| 1 Foi pois Booz à porta (da cidade) e sentou-se ali. Vendo passar o parente de que antes falam os, chamando-o pelo seu nome, disse-lhe: Vem cá por um pouco, e senta-te aqui. Ele foi e sentou-se. | 1 Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down. |
| 2 Então Booz, tomando dez homens dos anciãos da cidade, disse-lhes: Sentai-vos aqui. | 2 And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down. |
| 3 Estando eles sentados, (Booz) disse ao parente: Noemi, que voltou do país de Moab, está para vender uma parte do campo de Elimelec, nosso irmão; | 3 And he said unto the kinsman, Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech's: |
| 4 eu quis informar-te disso e dizer-to diante de todos os que estão aqui sentados, dos anciãos do meu povo. Se o queres possuir pelo direito de parentesco, compra-o e fica com ele, mas, se te desagrada, dize-mo, para que eu saiba o que devo fazer; com efeito, não há outro parente senão tu, que és o primeiro, e eu, que sou o segundo. Ele respondeu: Eu comprarei o campo. | 4 And I thought to advertise thee, saying, Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it: but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: for there is none to redeem it beside thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it. |
| 5 Booz disse-lhe: Logo que compres o campo de Noemi, é também necessário que cases com Rute Moabita, que foi mulher do defunto, para que faças reviver o nome do teu parente na sua herança. | 5 Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance. |
| 6 Ele respondeu: Eu cedo o direito de parentesco, com receio de prejudicar os meus herdeiros; usa tu do meu privilégio, ao qual eu declaro que renuncio espontaneamente. | 6 And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem it. |
| 7 Era um costume antigo em Israel, entre os parentes, que quando um cedia o seu direito a outro, para a cessão ser válida, o que cedia tirava o seu sapato e dava-o ao seu parente. Este era o testemunho da cessão em Israel. | 7 Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for to confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel. |
| 8 Disse pois Booz ao seu parente: Tira o teu sapato. E ele o tirou logo do pé. | 8 Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for thee. So he drew off his shoe. |
| 9 (Booz) disse aos anciãos e a todo o povo: Vós sois hoje testemunhas de que entro a possuir tudo o que era de Elimelec, Quelion e Maalon, entregando-mo Noemi, | 9 And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi. |
| 10 e de que recebo por esposa a Rute Moabita, mulher que foi de Maalon, a fim de eu fazer reviver o nome do defunto na sua herança, para o seu nome se não eliminar de entre os irmãos e da porta da sua cidade. Digo-vos, sois testemunhas disto. | 10 Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day. |
| 11 Respondeu todo o povo, que estava à porta, com os anciãos: Nós somos testemunhas; o Senhor faça que esta mulher, que entra na tua casa, seja como Raquel e Lia, que fundaram a casa de Israel. Que, por ela, sejas forte em Efrata, e tenha um nome célebre em Belém. | 11 And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem: |
| 12 Que a tua casa se torne como a casa de Farés, que Tamar deu á luz a Judá, pela posteridade que o Senhor te der desta jovem | 12 And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which the LORD shall give thee of this young woman. |
| 13 Booz pois tomou Rute, e casou com ela. Depois de a ter conhecido, o Senhor fez (a Rute) a graça de conceber e dar à luz um filho. | 13 So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son. |
| 14 E as mulheres disseram a Noemi: Bem dito seja o Senhor, que não permitiu que te faltasse um redentor! Que o seu nome seja celebrado em Israel! | 14 And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel. |
| 15 Terás quem console a tua alma, e te sustente na velhice, porque nasceu um menino de tua nora, a qual te ama, e é para ti muito melhor do que sete filhos, | 15 And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him. |
| 16 Noemi, tomando o menino, o pôs no seu regaço, e fazia as vezes de ama e de criada. | 16 And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it. |
| 17 As mulheres suas vizinhas congratulavam-se com ela, e diziam: Nasceu um filho a Noemi! Puseram-lhe o nome de Obed. Ele foi pai de Isai, pai de David. | 17 And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David. |

| 19 Esron gerou Aram, Aram gerou Aminadab, | 19 And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab, |
| 20 Aminadab gerou Naason, Naason gerou Salmon, | 20 And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon, |
| 21 Salmon gerou Booz, Booz gerou Obed, | 21 And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed, |
| 22 Obed gerou Isai, Isai gerou David. | 22 And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David. |
