| 1 Portanto, se há alguma consolação em Cristo, se algum conforto de caridade, se alguma união de espírito, se alguma ternura e compaixão, | 1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, |
| 2 tornai completo o meu gozo, tendo todos o mesmo pensar, a mesma caridade, uma só alma, um mesmo sentimento; | 2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. |
| 3 nada façais por espírito de partido ou por vanglória, mas cada um, por humildade, considere os outros superiores a si, | 3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. |
| 4 não atendendo (só) aos seus próprios interesses, mas também aos dos outros. | 4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. |
| 5 Tende entre vós os mesmos sentimentos que se deve ter em Jesus Cristo, | 5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: |
| 6 o qual, existindo na forma (ou natureza) de Deus, não julgou que fosse uma usurpação o seu ser igual a Deus, | 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: |
| 7 mas aniquilou-se a si mesmo, tomando a forma de servo, tornando-se semelhante aos homens e sendo reconhecido, por condição, como homem. | 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: |
| 8 Humilhou-se a si mesmo, fazendo-se obediente até à morte, e morte da cruz. | 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. |
| 9 Por isso também Deus o exaltou e lhe deu um nome que está acima de todo o nome, | 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: |
| 10 de modo que, ao nome de Jesus, se dobre todo o joelho no céu, na terra e no inferno, | 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; |
| 11 e toda a língua confesse que Jesus Cristo é Senhor, na glória de Deus Pai. | 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. |
| 12 Portanto, meus caríssimos, como sempre tendes sido obedientes, trabalhai na vossa salvação com temor e tremor, não só na minha presença, mas muito mais agora na minha ausência. | 12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. |
| 13 Porque Deus é o que opera em vós o querer e o executar, segundo o seu beneplácito. | 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. |
| 14 Fazei, pois, todas as coisas sem murmuração nem contestações, | 14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings: |
| 15 a fim de serdes irrepreensíveis e sinceros filhos de Deus, sem culpa, no meio de uma nação depravada e corrompida, onde brilhais como astros do mundo, | 15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; |
| 16 conservando a palavra de vida (que vos preguei), para eu ter a glória, no dia (da segunda vinda) de Cristo, de não haver corrido nem trabalhado em vão. | 16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain. |
| 17 Mas, ainda que o meu sangue deva servir de libação sobre o sacrifício e a oferenda da vossa fé, alegro-me e congratulo-me com todos vós. | 17 Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all. |
| 18 E vós também alegrai-vos e congratulai-vos comigo. | 18 For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me. |
| 19 Espero, no Senhor Jesus enviar-vos brevemente Timóteo, para que eu também fique animado, recebendo noticias de vós, | 19 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state. |
| 20 porque não tenho ninguém como ele, unido comigo em sentimentos, que se interesse por vós sinceramente: | 20 For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state. |
| 21 Com efeito, todos buscam os seus próprios interesses, e não os que são de Jesus Cristo. | 21 For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's. |
| 22 Sabeis que ele é de uma virtude provada e que, como um filho com o pai, serviu comigo o Evangelho. | 22 But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel. |
| 23 Espero, pois, mandar-vo-lo, logo que tiver visto o estado das minhas coisas. | 23 Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me. |
| 24 E confio no Senhor que também eu próprio brevemente irei ter convosco. | 24 But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly. |
| 25 Entretanto, julguei necessário mandar-vos Epafrodito, meu irmão, coadjutor e companheiro de luta, e vosso enviado para me socorrer nas minhas necessidades, | 25 Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants. |
| 26 pois que ele desejava, por certo, ver-vos de novo a todos e tinha pena de que tivésseis notícia da sua doença. | 26 For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick. |
| 27 Com efeito, esteve mortalmente enfermo, mas Deus compadeceu-se dele, e não somente dele, mas também de mim, para que eu não tivesse tristeza sobre tristeza. | 27 For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. |
| 28 Por isso o enviei mais depressa para que, vendo-o, de novo vos alegreis e eu fique com menor tristeza (sabendo que estais alegres). | 28 I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful. |
| 29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation: |
| 30 Efectivamente , pelo serviço de Cristo, chegou às portas da morte, arriscando a própria vida para vos suprir no serviço que vós me não podíeis prestar. | 30 Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me. |
