| 1 Passados alguns dias, entrou Jesus outra vez em Cafarnaum, | 1 When Jesus returned to Capernaum after some days, it became known that he was at home. |
| 2 e soube-se que ele estava em casa. Juntou-se muita gente, de modo que não se cabia, nem mesmo diante da porta. E ele pregava-lhes a palavra. | 2 Many gathered together so that there was no longer room for them, not even around the door, and he preached the word to them. |
| 3 Foram ter com ele, conduzindo um paralítico, que era transportado por quatro. | 3 They came bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. |
| 4 Como não pudessem apresentar-lho por causa da multidão, descobriram o tecto pela parte debaixo da qual estava Jesus, e, tendo feito uma abertura, desceram o leito, em que jazia o paralítico. | 4 Unable to get near Jesus because of the crowd, they opened up the roof above him. After they had broken through, they let down the mat on which the paralytic was lying. |
| 5 Vendo Jesus a fé daqueles homens, disse ao paralítico: "Filho, são-te perdoados os teus pecados." | 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Child, your sins are forgiven." |
| 6 Estavam ali sentados alguns escribas, os quais iam discorrendo nos seus corações : | 6 Now some of the scribes were sitting there asking themselves, |
| 7 "Como fala assim este homem ? Ele blasfema. Quem pode perdoar os pecados, senão só Deus?" | 7 "Why does this man speak that way? He is blaspheming. Who but God alone can forgive sins?" |
| 8 Jesus, conhecendo logo no seu espírito que eles discorriam desta maneira dentro de si, disse-lhes: Porque pensais isso nos vossos corações ? | 8 Jesus immediately knew in his mind what they were thinking to themselves, so he said, "Why are you thinking such things in your hearts? |
| 9 O que é menos difícil dizer ao paralítico: Os teus pecados te são perdoados; ou dizer: Levanta-te, toma o teu leito, e anda? | 9 Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise, pick up your mat and walk'? |
| 10 Ora, para que saibais que o Filho do homem tem na terra poder de perdoar pecados... | 10 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority to forgive sins on earth"-- |
| 11 eu te ordeno, disse ao paralítico: "Levanta-te, toma o teu leito, e vai para tua casa." | 11 he said to the paralytic, "I say to you, rise, pick up your mat, and go home." |
| 12 Imediatamente ele se levantou, e, tomando o seu leito, retirou-se à vista de todos, de maneira que todos se admiraram e louvavam a Deus, dizendo: "Nunca tal vimos." | 12 He rose, picked up his mat at once, and went away in the sight of everyone. They were all astounded and glorified God, saying, "We have never seen anything like this." |
| 13 Foi outra vez para o lado do mar. Ia ter com ele todo o povo, e o ensinava. | 13 Once again he went out along the sea. All the crowd came to him and he taught them. |
| 14 Ao passar viu Levi, filho de Alfeu, sentado no telónio, e disse-lhe; "Segue-me." Ele, levantando-se, o seguiu. | 14 As he passed by, he saw Levi, son of Alphaeus, sitting at the customs post. He said to him, "Follow me." And he got up and followed him. |
| 15 Aconteceu que, estando Jesus sentado à mesa em casa dele, estavam também à mesa com Jesus e com os seus discípulos muitos publicanos e pecadores, porque havia muitos deles que também o seguiam. | 15 While he was at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners sat with Jesus and his disciples; for there were many who followed him. |
| 16 Os escribas e fariseus, vendo que Jesus comia com os pecadores e publicanos, diziam a seus discípulos : "Porque come e bebe o vosso Mestre com os publicanos e pecadores?" | 16 Some scribes who were Pharisees saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors and said to his disciples, "Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?" |
| 17 Ouvindo isto Jesus, disse-lhes: "Os sãos não têm necessidade de médico, mas os enfermos; eu não vim chamar os justos mas os pecadores." | 17 Jesus heard this and said to them (that), "Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners." |
| 18 Os discípulos de João e os fariseus jejuavam. Foram pois ter com Jesus, e disseram-lhe: "Porque jejuam os discípulos de João e os fariseus, e não jejuam os teus discípulos?" | 18 The disciples of John and of the Pharisees were accustomed to fast. People came to him and objected, "Why do the disciples of John and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?" |
| 19 Jesus respondeu-lhes: "Podem porventura jejuar os companheiros do esposo, enquanto o esposo está com eles? Todo o tempo que têm consigo o esposo, não podem jejuar. | 19 Jesus answered them, "Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them they cannot fast. |
| 20 Mas virão dias em que lhes será tirado o esposo, e então nesses dias jejuarão. | 20 But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast on that day. |
| 21 Ninguém cose um remendo de pano cru num vestido velho; doutra sorte o remendo novo leva parte do velho, e torna-se maior o rasgão. | 21 No one sews a piece of unshrunken cloth on an old cloak. If he does, its fullness pulls away, the new from the old, and the tear gets worse. |
| 22 Ninguém lança vinho novo em odres velhos; doutra sorte o vinho fará arrebentar os odres, e entornar-se-á o vinho, e perder-se-ão os odres; mas para vinho novo, odres novos." | 22 Likewise, no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the skins are ruined. Rather, new wine is poured into fresh wineskins." |
| 23 Sucedeu que, caminhando o Senhor em dia de sábado, por entre campos de trigo, os seus discípulos, enquanto caminhavam, começaram a colher espigas. | 23 As he was passing through a field of grain on the sabbath, his disciples began to make a path while picking the heads of grain. |
| 24 Os fariseus diziam-lhe: "Como é que fazem ao sábado o que não é lícito?" | 24 At this the Pharisees said to him, "Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the sabbath?" |
| 25 Ele respondeu-lhes: "Nunca lestes o que fez David, quando se encontrou em necessidade, e teve fome, ele e os que com ele estavam? | 25 He said to them, "Have you never read what David did when he was in need and he and his companions were hungry? |
| 26 Como entrou na casa de Deus, sendo sumo sacerdote Abiatar, e comeu os pães da proposição, dos quais não é lícito comer, senão aos sacerdotes, e deu aos que com ele estavam?" | 26 How he went into the house of God when Abiathar was high priest and ate the bread of offering that only the priests could lawfully eat, and shared it with his companions?" |
| 27 E acrescentou: "O sábado foi feito para o homem, e não o homem para o sábado. | 27 Then he said to them, "The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath. |
| 28 Por isso o Filho do homem é senhor também do sábado." | 28 That is why the Son of Man is lord even of the sabbath." |
