| 1 Naquele dia, saindo Jesus de casa, sentou-se à beira do mar. | 1 On that day, Jesus went out of the house and sat down by the sea. |
| 2 E juntou-se em volta dele uma grande multidão de gente, de tal sorte que foi preciso entrar numa barca e sentar-se nela ; e toda a multidão estava em pé sobre a praia. | 2 Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd stood along the shore. |
| 3 E disse-lhes muitas coisas por parábolas: "Eis que um semeador saiu a semear. | 3 And he spoke to them at length in parables, saying: "A sower went out to sow. |
| 4 Quando semeava, uma parte da semente caiu ao longo do caminho, e vieram as aves do céu e comeram-na. | 4 And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and birds came and ate it up. |
| 5 Outra parte caiu em lugar pedregoso, onde não havia muita terra; e logo nasceu, porque não tinha profundidade de terra. | 5 Some fell on rocky ground, where it had little soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep, |
| 6 Mas, saindo o sol, queimou-se; e porque não tinha raiz, secou. | 6 and when the sun rose it was scorched, and it withered for lack of roots. |
| 7 Outra parte caiu entre os espinhos; e cresceram os espinhos, e a sufocaram. | 7 Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it. |
| 8 Outra parte, enfim, caiu em boa terra, e frutificou; uns grãos deram cem por um, outros sessenta, outros trinta. | 8 But some seed fell on rich soil, and produced fruit, a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold. |
| 9 Quem tem ouvidos para ouvir, ouça." | 9 Whoever has ears ought to hear." |
| 10 Chegando-se a ele os discípulos, disseram-lhe: "Por que razão lhes falas por meio de parábolas?" | 10 The disciples approached him and said, "Why do you speak to them in parables?" |
| 11 Ele respondeu-lhes: "Porque a vós é concedido conhecer os mistérios do reino dos céus, mas a eles não lhes é concedido. | 11 He said to them in reply, "Because knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven has been granted to you, but to them it has not been granted. |
| 12 Porque ao que tem lhe será dado (ainda mais), e terá em abundância, mas ao que não tem, até o que tem lhe será tirado. | 12 To anyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; from anyone who has not, even what he has will be taken away. |
| 13 Por isso lhes falo em parábolas, porque vendo não vêem, e ouvindo não ouvem nem entendem. | 13 This is why I speak to them in parables, because 'they look but do not see and hear but do not listen or understand.' |
| 14 E cumpre-se neles a profecia de Isaías (Is. 6, 9-10), que diz: Ouvireis com os ouvidos, e não entendereis; olhareis com os vossos olhos, e não vereis. | 14 Isaiah's prophecy is fulfilled in them, which says: 'You shall indeed hear but not understand you shall indeed look but never see. |
| 15 Porque o coração deste povo tornou-se insensível, os- seus ouvidos tornaram-se duros, e fecharam os olhos, para não suceder que vejam com os olhos, e ouçam com os ouvidos, e entendam com o coração, e se convertam, e eu os sare. | 15 Gross is the heart of this people, they will hardly hear with their ears, they have closed their eyes, lest they see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and be converted, and I heal them.' |
| 16 Ditosos, porém, os vossos olhos, porque vêem, e os vossos ouvidos, porque ouvem. | 16 "But blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear. |
| 17 Em verdade vos digo que muitos profetas e justos desejaram ver o que vedes, e não o viram, ouvir o que ouvis, e não o ouviram. | 17 Amen, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it. |
| 18 Ouvi, pois, vós o que significa a parábola do semeador: | 18 "Hear then the parable of the sower. |
| 19 Todo aquele que ouve a palavra do reino (do Evangelho), e não lhe presta atenção, vem o espírito maligno e arrebata o que foi semeado no seu coração; este é o que recebeu a semente ao longo da estrada. | 19 The seed sown on the path is the one who hears the word of the kingdom without understanding it, and the evil one comes and steals away what was sown in his heart. |
| 20 O que recebeu a semente no lugar pedregoso, é aquele que ouve a palavra, e logo a recebe com gosto; | 20 The seed sown on rocky ground is the one who hears the word and receives it at once with joy. |
| 21 porém, não tem em si raiz, é inconstante; e, quando lhe sobrevêm tribulação e perseguição por causa da palavra, logo sucumbe. | 21 But he has no root and lasts only for a time. When some tribulation or persecution comes because of the word, he immediately falls away. |
| 22 O que recebeu a semente entre espinhos, é aquele que ouve a palavra, porém os cuidados deste século e a sedução das riquezas sufocam a palavra, e fica infrutuosa. | 22 The seed sown among thorns is the one who hears the word, but then worldly anxiety and the lure of riches choke the word and it bears no fruit. |
| 23 O que recebeu a semente em boa terra, é aquele que ouve a palavra, e a compreende, esse dá fruto, e umas vezes dá cem, outras sessenta, e outras trinta por um." | 23 But the seed sown on rich soil is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold." |
| 24 Propôs-lhe outra parábola, dizendo: " O reino dos céus é semelhante a um homem que semeou boa semente no seu campo. | 24 He proposed another parable to them. "The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a man who sowed good seed in his field. |
| 25 Porém, enquanto os homens dormiam, veio o seu inimigo, e semeou cizânia no meio do trigo, e foi-se. | 25 While everyone was asleep his enemy came and sowed weeds all through the wheat, and then went off. |
| 26 Tendo crescido a erva e dado fruto, apareceu então a cizânia. | 26 When the crop grew and bore fruit, the weeds appeared as well. |
| 27 Chegando os servos do pai de família, disseram-lhe: Senhor, porventura não semeaste tu boa semente no teu campo? Donde veio pois a cizânia? | 27 The slaves of the householder came to him and said, 'Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? Where have the weeds come from?' |
| 28 Ele respondeu-lhes: Foi um inimigo que fez isto. Os servos disseram-lhe: Queres que vamos e a arranquemos? | 28 He answered, 'An enemy has done this.' His slaves said to him, 'Do you want us to go and pull them up?' |
| 29 Ele respondeu-lhes: Não. para que talvez não suceda que, arrancando a cizânia, arranqueis juntamente com ela o trigo. | 29 He replied, 'No, if you pull up the weeds you might uproot the wheat along with them. |
| 30 Deixai crescer uma e outra coisa até à ceifa, e no tempo da ceifa direi aos segadores: Colhei primeiramente a cizânia, e atai-a em molhos para a queimar; o trigo, porém, recolhei-o no meu celeiro." | 30 Let them grow together until harvest; then at harvest time I will say to the harvesters, "First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles for burning; but gather the wheat into my barn."'" |
| 31 Propôs-lhes outra parábola, dizendo: O reino dos céus é semelhante a um grão de mostarda, que um homem tomou e semeou no seu campo. | 31 He proposed another parable to them. "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a person took and sowed in a field. |
| 32 É a mais pequena,de todas as sementes, mas, depois de ter crescido, é maior que todas as hortaliças e chega a tornar- se uma árvore, de sorte que as aves do céu vêm aninhar sobre os seus ramos." | 32 It is the smallest of all the seeds, yet when full-grown it is the largest of plants. It becomes a large bush, and the 'birds of the sky come and dwell in its branches.'" |
| 33 Disse-lhes outra parábola; "O reino dos céus é semelhante ao fermento que uma mulher toma e mistura em três medidas de farinha, até que o todo fica fermentado." | 33 He spoke to them another parable. "The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed with three measures of wheat flour until the whole batch was leavened." |
| 34 Todas estas coisas disse Jesus ao povo em parábolas; e não lhes falava sem parábolas, | 34 All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables. He spoke to them only in parables, |
| 35 a fim de que se cumprisse o que estava anunciado pelo profeta, que diz; Abrirei em parábolas a minha boca, publicarei as coisas escondidas desde a criação (Ps. 77, 2)." | 35 to fulfill what had been said through the prophet: "I will open my mouth in parables, I will announce what has lain hidden from the foundation (of the world)." |
| 36 Então (Jesus), despedido o povo, foi para casa, e chegaram-se a ele os seus discípulos, dizendo: "Explica-nos a parábola da cizânia no campo." | 36 Then, dismissing the crowds, he went into the house. His disciples approached him and said, "Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field." |
| 37 Ele respondeu: "O que semeia a boa semente, é o Filho do homem. | 37 He said in reply, "He who sows good seed is the Son of Man, |
| 38 O campo é o mundo. A boa semente são os filhos do reino. A cizânia são os filhos do (espírito) maligno. | 38 the field is the world, the good seed the children of the kingdom. The weeds are the children of the evil one, |
| 39 O inimigo que a semeou, é o demônio. O tempo da ceifa é o fim do mundo. Os segadores são os anjos. | 39 and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. |
| 40 De maneira que, assim como é colhida a cizânia e queimada no fogo, assim acontecerá no fim do mundo. | 40 Just as weeds are collected and burned (up) with fire, so will it be at the end of the age. |
| 41 O Filho do homem enviará os seus anjos, e tirarão do seu reino todos os escândalos e os que praticam a iniquidade, | 41 The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will collect out of his kingdom all who cause others to sin and all evildoers. |
| 42 e lançá-los-ão na fornalha de fogo. Ali haverá choro e ranger de dentes. | 42 They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth. |
| 43 Então resplandecerão os justos como o sol no reino de seu Pai. O que tem ouvidos para ouvir, ouça. | 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears ought to hear. |
| 44 O reino dos céus é semelhante a um tesouro escondido num campo, o qual, quando um homem o acha, esconde-o, e, pelo gosto que sente de o achar, vai, e vende tudo o que tem, e compra aquele campo. | 44 "The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field, which a person finds and hides again, and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. |
| 45 O reino dos céus é também semelhante a um mercador que busca pérolas preciosas, | 45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. |
| 46 e, tendo encontrado uma de grande preço, vai, vende tudo o que tem, e a compra. | 46 When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it. |
| 47 O reino dos céus é ainda semelhante a uma rede lançada ao mar, que colhe toda a casta de peixes. | 47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea, which collects fish of every kind. |
| 48 Quando está cheia, os pescadores tiram-na para fora, e, sentados na praia, escolhem os bons para cestos e deitam fora os maus. | 48 When it is full they haul it ashore and sit down to put what is good into buckets. What is bad they throw away. |
| 49 Será assim no fim do mundo, virão os anjos, e separarão os maus do meio dos justos, | 49 Thus it will be at the end of the age. The angels will go out and separate the wicked from the righteous |
| 50 e lançá-los-ão na fornalha de fogo. Ali haverá choro e ranger de dentes. | 50 and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth. |
| 51 Compreendestes tudo isto?" Eles responderam: "Sim." | 51 "Do you understand all these things?" They answered, "Yes." |
| 52 Ele disse-Ihes; "Por isso todo o escriba instruído nas coisas do reino dos céus é semelhante a um pai de família, que tira do seu tesouro coisas novas e velhas." | 52 And he replied, "Then every scribe who has been instructed in the kingdom of heaven is like the head of a household who brings from his storeroom both the new and the old." |
| 53 Quando Jesus acabou de dizer estas parábolas partiu dali. | 53 When Jesus finished these parables, he went away from there. |
| 54 E, indo para a sua pátria, ensinava nas suas sinagogas, de modo que se admiravam e diziam; "Donde lhe vem esta sabedoria e estes milagres? | 54 He came to his native place and taught the people in their synagogue. They were astonished and said, "Where did this man get such wisdom and mighty deeds? |
| 55 Porventura não é este o filho do carpinteiro? Não se chama sua mãe Maria, e seus irmãos Tiago, José, Simão e Judas? | 55 Is he not the carpenter's son? Is not his mother named Mary and his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas? |
| 56 Suas irmãs não vivem todas entre nós? Donde vem, pois, a este todas estas coisas? | 56 Are not his sisters all with us? Where did this man get all this?" |
| 57 E estavam perplexos a seu respeito." Mas Jesus disse-lhes: "Não há profeta sem prestígio senão na sua pátria e na sua casa." | 57 And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and in his own house." |
| 58 E fez ali poucos milagres, por causa da incredulidade deles. | 58 And he did not work many mighty deeds there because of their lack of faith. |
