| 1 Naquele tempo, num dia de sábado, passava Jesus por umas searas, e seus discípulos, tendo fome, começaram a colher espigas e a comê-las. | 1 At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat. |
| 2 Vendo isto os fariseus, disseram-lhe: "Eis que os teus discípulos fazem o que não é permitido fazer ao sábado." | 2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day. |
| 3 Jesus respondeu-lhes: "Não lestes o que fez David quando teve fome, ele e os que com ele iam? | 3 But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him; |
| 4 Como entrou na casa de Deus, e comeu os pães da proposição, os quais não era licito comer, nem a ele, nem aos que com ele iam, mas só aos sacerdotes? | 4 How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests? |
| 5 Não lestes na lei que aos sábados os sacerdotes no templo violam o sábado e ficam sem culpa? | 5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? |
| 6 Ora eu digo-vos que aqui está alguém que é maior que o templo. | 6 But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple. |
| 7 Se vós soubésseis o que quer dizer: Quero a misericórdia e não sacrifício (Os. 6, 6), jamais condenaríeis inocentes. | 7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless. |
| 8 Porque o Filho do homem é senhor do próprio sábado." | 8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day. |
| 9 Partindo dali, foi à sinagoga deles, | 9 And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue: |
| 10 onde se encontrava um homem que tinha seca uma das mãos; e eles, para terem de que o acusar, perguntaram-lhe: "É permitido curar aos sábados?" | 10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him. |
| 11 Ele respondeu-Ihes: "Que homem haverá entre vós que, tendo uma ovelha, se esta cair no dia de sábado a uma cova, não a tome, e não a tire de lá? | 11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? |
| 12 Ora quanto mais vale um homem do que uma ovelha? Logo é permitido fazer bem no dia de sábado." | 12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. |
| 13 Então disse ao homem: "Estende a tua mão." Ele estendeu-a, e ela tornou-se sã como a outra. | 13 Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other. |
| 14 Os fariseus, saindo dali, tiveram conselho contra ele sobre o modo de o levarem à morte. | 14 Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him. |
| 15 Jesus, sabendo isto, retirou-se daquele lugar. Muitos seguiram-no, e curou-os a todos. | 15 But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all; |
| 16 Ordenou-lhes que não o descobrissem, | 16 And charged them that they should not make him known: |
| 17 para que se cumprisse o que tinha sido anunciado pelo profeta Isaías (Is. 42, 1-4): | 17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, |
| 18 Eis o meu servo, que eu escolhi, o meu amado, em quem a minha alma pôs as suas complacências. Farei repousar sobre ele o meu Espirito, e ele anunciará a justiça às nações. | 18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles. |
| 19 Não contenderá, nem clamará, nem ouvirá alguém a sua voz nas praças; | 19 He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets. |
| 20 não quebrará a cana rachada, nem apagará a torcida que fumega, até que faça triunfar a justiça; | 20 A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory. |
| 21 e as nações esperarão no seu nome. | 21 And in his name shall the Gentiles trust. |
| 22 Então trouxeram-lhe um endemoninhado, cego e mudo, e ele o curou, de sorte que falava e via. | 22 Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. |
| 23 E ficaram estupefactas todas as multidões, e diziam: "Não será este o Filho de David?" | 23 And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? |
| 24 Mas os fariseus, ouvindo isto, disseram: "Este não lança fora os demônios, senão por virtude de Belzebu, príncipe dos demônios." | 24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. |
| 25 Porém, Jesus, conhecendo os pensamentos deles, disse-lhes: "Todo o reino, dividido contra si mesmo, será destruído; e toda a cidade ou família, dividida contra si mesma, não subsistirá. | 25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: |
| 26 Ora, se Satanás lança fora a Satanás, está dividido contra si mesmo; como subsistirá, pois, o seu reino? | 26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? |
| 27 E se eu lanço fora os demônios por virtude de Belzebu, por virtude de quem os expelem vossos filhos? Por isso é que eles serão os vossos juízes. | 27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges. |
| 28 Se eu, porém, lanço fora os demônios pela virtude do Espírito de Deus, é chegado a vós o reino de Deus. | 28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. |
| 29 Como pode alguém entrar na casa de um valente, e saquear os seus móveis, se antes não prender o valente? Só então lhe poderá saquear a casa. | 29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. |
| 30 Quem não é comigo, é contra mim; e quem não junta comigo, derperdiça. | 30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. |
| 31 Por isso vos digo: Todo o pecado e blasfêmia será perdoado aos homens, porém a blasfêmia contra o Espírito Santo não será perdoada. | 31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. |
| 32 Todo o que disser alguma palavra contra o Filho do homem, lhe será perdoado; porém o que a disser contra o Espírito Santo, não lhe será perdoado, nem neste século nem no futuro. | 32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. |
| 33 Ou dizei que a árvore é boa e o seu fruto bom, ou dizei que a árvore é má e o seu fruto mau, pois que pelo fruto se conhece a árvore. | 33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. |
| 34 Raça de víboras, como podeis dizer coisas boas, vós que sois maus? Porque a boca fala da abundância do coração. | 34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. |
| 35 O homem bom tira boas coisas do seu bom tesouro, e o mau homem tirá más coisas do seu mau tesouro. | 35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. |
| 36 Ora eu digo-vos que de qualquer palavra ociosa que tiverem proferido os homens, darão conta dela no dia do juízo. | 36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. |
| 37 Porque pelas tuas palavras será justificado ou condenado." | 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. |
| 38 Então lhe replicaram alguns dos escribas e fariseus, dizendo: "Mestre, nós desejávamos ver algum prodígio teu. | 38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. |
| 39 Ele respondeu-lhes: "Esta geração má e adúltera pede um prodígio, mas não lhe será dado outro prodígio, senão o prodígio do profeta Jonas. | 39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: |
| 40 Porque, assim como Jonas esteve no ventre da baleia três dias e três noites (Jn. 2, 1), assim estará o Filho do homem três dias e três noites no seio da terra. | 40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. |
| 41 Os habitantes de Ninive se levantarão no dia do juízo contra esta geração, e a condenação, porque fizeram penitência com a pregação de Jonas. Ora aqui está quem é mais do que Jonas. | 41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. |
| 42 A rainha do meio-dia levantar-se-á no dia do juízo contra esta geração e a condenará, porque veio dos confins da terra a ouvir a sabedoria de Salomão. Ora aqui está quem é mais do que Salomão. | 42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. |
| 43 Quando o espírito imundo saiu de um homem, anda errando por lugares áridos, à busca de repouso, e não o encontra. | 43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. |
| 44 Então diz: Voltarei para minha casa, donde saí. E, quando vem, a encontra desocupada, varrida e adornada. | 44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. |
| 45 Então vai, e toma consigo outros sete espíritos piores do que ele, e, entrando, habitam ali; e o último estado daquele homem torna-se pior que o primeiro. Assim também acontecerá a esta geração perversa." | 45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation. |
| 46 Estando ele ainda a falar ao povo, eis que sua mãe e seus irmãos se achavam fora, desejando falar-lhe. | 46 While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. |
| 47 Alguém disse-lhe: "Tua mãe e teus irmãos estão ali fora, e desejam falar-te." | 47 Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. |
| 48 Ele, porém, respondeu ao que falava: "Quem é minha mãe e quem são os meus irmãos?" | 48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? |
| 49 E, estendendo a mão para os seus discípulos, disse: "Eis minha mãe e meus irmãos. | 49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! |
| 50 Porque todo aquele que fizer a vontade de meu Pai, que está nos céus, esse é meu irmão e minha irmã e minha mãe." | 50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. |
