| 1 Palavras de Amós, que foi um dos pastores de Tecué. (Contêm) a revelação que teve acerca de Israel, nos dias de Ozias, rei de Judá, e nos dias de Jeroboão, filho de Joás, rei de Israel, dois anos antes do terramoto. | 1 The words of Amos, who was among the herdman of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake. |
| 2 Disse: O Senhor rugirá de Sião, de Jerusalém fará ouvir a sua voz; os prados dos pastores estarão de luto, o cume do Carmelo secará. | 2 And he said, The LORD will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither. |
| 3 Isto diz o Senhor: Por causa do triplo e do quádruplo crime de Damasco, não mudarei o meu decreto (de justiça). Porque eles, com carros armados de ferro, despedaçaram (os Israelitas de) Galaad, | 3 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron: |
| 4 por isso porei fogo á casa (real) de Azael, e esse fogo devorará os palácios de Benadad. | 4 But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad. |
| 5 Quebrarei o ferrolho (ou poder) de Damasco; exterminarei de Bigath-Aven os que lá habitam, e de Beth-Eden o que tem na mão o cetro; e o povo da Síria será transferido a Quir, diz o Senhor. | 5 I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD. |
| 6 Isto diz o Senhor: Pelos três crimes de Gaza, e pelos quatro, não mudarei o meu decreto (de castigo). Porque deportaram uma multidão de cativos para a entregarem à Idumeia, | 6 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom: |
| 7 por isso porei fogo aos muros de Gaza, e ele reduzirá a cinza os seus edifícios. | 7 But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof: |
| 8 Exterminarei de Azoto os que a habitam, e de Ascalon o que tem o cetro; descarregarei a minha mão sobre Acaron, e perecerão os restos dos Filisteus, diz o Senhor Deus. | 8 And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD. |
| 9 Isto diz o Senhor: Pelos três crimes de Tiro, e pelos quatro, não mudarei o meu decreto (de castigo). Porque entregaram uma multidão de cativos à Idumeia, e não se lembraram da (antiga) aliança fraternal, | 9 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant: |
| 10 por isso porei fogo aos muros de Tiro, e ele devorará os seus edifícios. | 10 But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof. |
| 11 Isto diz o Senhor: Pelos três crimes da Idumeia e pelos quatro, não mudarei o meu decreto (de castigo). Porque perseguiu a (Israel) seu irmão com a espada, abafando a compaixão (que lhe devia), porque o seu furor não cessa de despedaçar, e persiste até ao fim a sua indignação, | 11 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever: |
| 12 porei fogo a Teman, e ele reduzirá a cinza os edifícios de Bosra. | 12 But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah. |
| 13 Isto diz o Senhor: Pelos três crimes dos filhos de Amon, e pelos quatro, não mudarei o meu decreto (de castigo). Visto que desventraram as mulheres grávidas de Galaad, para, por este meio, dilatar os seus domínios; | 13 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border: |
| 14 por isso porei fogo aos muros de Raba, e ele devorará os seus edifícios, no meio dos gritos de guerra dum dia de batalha, no meio do turbilhão dum dia de tempestade. | 14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind: |
| 15 O seu rei irá para o exílio, juntamente com os seus príncipes, diz o Senhor. | 15 And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the LORD. |
