| 1 (Depois disto) o espirito arrebatou-me e conduziu-me à porta oriental da casa do Senhor, a que olha para o nascente. E eis que se achavam à entrada da porta vinte e cinco homens, no meio dos quais distingui Jezonias, filho de Azur, e Feltias, filho de Banaias, chefes do povo. | 1 And the spirit lifted me up, and brought me into the east gate of the house of the Lord, which looketh towards the rising of the sun: and behold in the entry of the gate five and twenty men: and I saw in the midst of them Jezonias the son of Azur, and Pheltias the son of Banaias, princes of the people. |
| 2 (O Senhor) disse-me: Filho de homem, são estes os varões que maquinaram o mal e dão maus conselhos nesta cidade, | 2 And he said to me: Son of man, these are the men that study iniquity, and frame a wicked counsel in this city, |
| 3 dizendo: Porventura não estão as nossas casas edificadas há muito tempo? Esta (cidade) é a caldeira, e nós somos a carne. | 3 Saying: Were not houses lately built? This city is the caldron, and we the flesh. |
| 4 Por isso profetiza contra eles, profetiza, filho de homem. | 4 Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, thou son of man. |
| 5 Então caiu sobre mim o espírito do Senhor e disse-me: Fala: Isto diz o Senhor: Assim é que discorreis, ó (filhos da), casa de Israel! Eu conheço os pensamentos que sobem ao vosso espírito. | 5 And the spirit of the Lord fell upon me, and said to me: Speak: Thus saith the Lord: Thus have you spoken, O house of Israel, for I know the thoughts of your heart. |
| 6 Multiplicastes as mortes nesta cidade, enchestes as suas ruas de cadáveres. | 6 You have killed a great many in this city, and you have filled the streets thereof with the slain. |
| 7 Portanto isto diz o Senhor Deus: Os que vós matastes, que prostrastes no meio da cidade, estes são a carne, e ela é a caldeira; mas eu vos tirarei do meio dela. | 7 Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Your slain, whom you have laid in the midst thereof, they are the flesh, and this is the caldron: and I will bring you forth out of the midst thereof. |
| 8 Vós temeis a espada, e eu farei cair sobre vós a espada, diz o Senhor Deus. | 8 You have feared the sword, and I will bring the sword upon you, saith the Lord God. |
| 9 Lançar-vos-ei fora desta cidade, entregar-vos-ei nas mãos dos estrangeiros e exercerei sobre vós os meus juízos. | 9 And I will cast you out of the midst thereof, and I will deliver you into the hand of the enemies, and I will execute judgments upon you. |
| 10 Perecereis aos golpes da espada; julgar-vos-ei nos confins de Israel, e sabereis que sou o Senhor. | 10 You shall fall by the sword: I will judge you in the borders of Israel, and you shall know that I am the Lord. |
| 11 Esta cidade não será para vós uma caldeira, nem vós sereis a carne no meio dela; julgar-vos-ei nos confins de Israel. | 11 This shall not be as a caldron to you, and you shall not be as flesh in the midst thereof: I will judge you in the borders of Israel. |
| 12 E sabereis que sou o Senhor, cujos preceitos não seguistes, cujas leis não observastes, pois procedestes segundo os costumes das gentes que vivem à roda de vós. | 12 And you shall know that I am the Lord: because you have not walked in my commandments, and have not done my judgments, but you have done according to the judgments of the nations that; are round about you. |
| 13 Enquanto eu profetizava, morreu Feltias filho de Banaias. Então prostrei-me com o rosto em terra, gritando em alta voz; Ai, Senhor Deus! Vais acabar com os restos de Israel? | 13 And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pheltias the son of Banaias died: and I fell down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice: and said: Alas, alas, alas, O Lord God: wilt thou make an end of all the remnant of Israel? |
| 14 Foi-me dirigida a palavra do Senhor, nestes termos: | 14 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying: |
| 15 Filho de homem, os teus irmãos, os teus irmãos, as pessoas do teu parentesco, toda a casa de Israel, são todos aqueles a quem os moradores de Jerusalém dizem: Estais longe do Senhor! A nós é que a terra foi dada para a possuirmos. | 15 Son of man, thy brethren, thy brethren, thy kinsmen, and all the house of Israel, all they to whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said: Get ye far from the Lord, the land is given in possession to us. |
| 16 Por isso, assim fala o Senhor Iavé: Coloquei-os longe entre as nações, dispersei-os por vários países, mas eu mesmo lhes servirei de santuário, durante breve tempo, nos países para onde foram. | 16 Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Because I have removed them far off among the Gentiles, and because I have scattered them among the countries: I will be to them a little sanctuary in the countries whither they are come. |
| 17 Dize-lhes pois: Isto diz o Senhor Deus: Juntar-vos-ei do meio dos povos, reunir-vos-ei dos países, pelos quais fostes dispersados, e dar-vos-ei a terra de Israel. | 17 Therefore speak to them: Thus saith the Lord God: I will gather you from among the peoples, and assemble you out of the countries wherein you are scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel. |
| 18 Eles entrarão nela e tirarão do seu seio todos os ídolos e todas as abominações, | 18 And they shall go in thither, and shall take away all the scandals, and all the abominations thereof from thence. |
| 19 e eu lhes darei um só coração e derramarei no seu íntimo um novo espírito; tirarei da sua carne o coração de pedra e dar-lhes-ei um coração de carne, | 19 And I will give them one heart, and will put a new spirit in their bowels: and I will take away the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh: |
| 20 para que andem nos meus preceitos e guardem as minhas leis e as cumpram. Então serão o meu povo e eu o seu Deus. | 20 That they may walk in my commandments, and keep my judgments, and do them: and that they may be my people, and I may be their God. |
| 21 Quanto àqueles, cujo coração anda preso aos seus ídolos e às suas abominações, farei recair sobre as suas cabeças as suas obras, diz o Senhor Deus. | 21 But as for them whose heart walketh after their scandals and abominations, I will lay their way upon their head, saith the Lord God. |
| 22 Então os querubins estenderam as suas asas, e com eles se puseram em movimento as rodas, enquanto a glória do Deus de Israel estava sobre eles. | 22 And the cherubims lifted up their wings, and the wheels with them: and the glory of the God of Israel was over them. |
| 23 E a glória do Senhor elevando-se para sair da cidade, foi-se pôr sobre o monte que está no oriente da cidade. | 23 And the glory of the Lord went up from the midst of the city, and stood over the mount that is on the east side of the city. |
| 24 Depois disto, o espírito tomou-me e conduziu-me outra vez, em visão, no espírito de Deus, à Caldeia, onde estavam os cativos, e, assim, se dissipou a visão que eu tinha tido. | 24 And the spirit lifted me up, and brought me into Chaldea, to them of the captivity, in vision, by the spirit of God: and the vision which I had seen was taken up from me. |
| 25 E contei aos cativos tudo o que o Senhor me havia feito ver. | 25 And I spoke to them of the captivity all the words of the Lord, which he had shewn me. |
