| 1 Naquele tempo, diz o Senhor, eu serei o Deus de todas as famílias de Israel, e elas serão o meu povo. | 1 "At that time, says the LORD, I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people." |
| 2 Assim fala o Senhor: O povo, que tinha escapado da espada, achou graça no deserto; Israel irá para o seu descanso. | 2 Thus says the LORD: "The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness; when Israel sought for rest, |
| 3 De longe (responde Israel) se me deixou ver o Senhor. Eu amei-te (continua o Senhor) com amor eterno; por isso, mantive o meu favor para contigo. | 3 the LORD appeared to him from afar. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you. |
| 4 De novo te edificarei, e serás reedificada, ó virgem de Israel; ainda hás-de ser adornada dos teus atabales, e hás-de sair no meio de danças alegres. | 4 Again I will build you, and you shall be built, O virgin Israel! Again you shall adorn yourself with timbrels, and shall go forth in the dance of the merrymakers. |
| 5 Ainda hás-de plantar vinhas nos montes da Samaria; e os plantadores recolherão os frutos (do seu trabalho). | 5 Again you shall plant vineyards upon the mountains of Samaria; the planters shall plant, and shall enjoy the fruit. |
| 6 Porque há-de vir um dia em que os vigilantes gritarão sobre o monte de Efraim: Levantai-vos e subamos a Sião, ao (templo do) Senhor nosso Deus. | 6 For there shall be a day when watchmen will call in the hill country of Ephraim: 'Arise, and let us go up to Zion, to the LORD our God.'" |
| 7 Pois isto diz o Senhor: Regozijai-vos e fazei festa por causa de Jacob, soltai gritos de louvor à primeira das nações; clamai, cantai e dizei: O Senhor salvou o seu povo, as relíquias de Israel. | 7 For thus says the LORD: "Sing aloud with gladness for Jacob, and raise shouts for the chief of the nations; proclaim, give praise, and say, 'The LORD has saved his people, the remnant of Israel.' |
| 8 Eis que eu (diz o Senhor) os trarei da terra do Aquilão, congregá-los-ei das extremidades da terra. O cego e o coxo, a mulher grávida e a de parto virão entre eles juntamente. Será grande a multidão das que hão-de voltar para aqui. | 8 Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the farthest parts of the earth, among them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her who is in travail, together; a great company, they shall return here. |
| 9 Virão chorando (de alegria); no meio de consolações os tornarei a trazer; conduzi-los-ei às águas correntes, por caminho direito, em que não tropeçarão, porque me tornei pai de Israel, e Efraim é o meu primogênito. | 9 With weeping they shall come, and with consolations I will lead them back, I will make them walk by brooks of water, in a straight path in which they shall not stumble; for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my first-born. |
| 10 Ouvi, nações, a palavra do Senhor e anunciai-a às ilhas longínquas. Dizei: O que dispersou Israel o congregará e guardará como um pastor guarda o seu rebanho. | 10 "Hear the word of the LORD, O nations, and declare it in the coastlands afar off; say, 'He who scattered Israel will gather him, and will keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock.' |
| 11 Porque o Senhor resgatou Jacob, livrou-o da mão dum mais poderoso. | 11 For the LORD has ransomed Jacob, and has redeemed him from hands too strong for him. |
| 12 Virão, soltando gritos de alegria às alturas de Sião, e correrão aos bens do Senhor, ao trigo, ao vinho, ao azeite, às ovelhas e aos bois; a sua alma será como um jardim de regadio, e não terão mais debilidade. | 12 They shall come and sing aloud on the height of Zion, and they shall be radiant over the goodness of the LORD, over the grain, the wine, and the oil, and over the young of the flock and the herd; their life shall be like a watered garden, and they shall languish no more. |
| 13 Então se alegrará a virgem na dança, alegrar-se-ão os jovens e os velhos juntamente; converterei o seu pranto em gozo. consolá-los-ei, passada a sua dor, enchê-los-ei de alegria. | 13 Then shall the maidens rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old shall be merry. I will turn their mourning into joy, I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow. |
| 14 Darei abundância de gordura (de vítimas) aos sacerdotes, e o meu povo será cheio dos meus bens, diz o Senhor. | 14 I will feast the soul of the priests with abundance, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, says the LORD." |
| 15 Assim fala o Senhor: Foi ouvida, em Rama, uma voz, uma lamentação; um pranto amargo; é Raquel, que chora os seus filhos, e não quer ser consolada pela sua perda, porque já não existem. | 15 Thus says the LORD: "A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation and bitter weeping. Rachel is weeping for her children; she refuses to be comforted for her children, because they are not." |
| 16 Isto diz o Senhor: Cesse a tua boca de se lamentar, e os teus olhos de verterem lágrimas. Com efeito, as tuas penas terão a sua recompensa, diz o Senhor, e eles (teus filhos) voltarão da terra do inimigo. | 16 Thus says the LORD: "Keep your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears; for your work shall be rewarded, says the LORD, and they shall come back from the land of the enemy. |
| 17 Para o teu futuro te fica a esperança, diz o Senhor, de que os teus filhos voltarão para o seu território. | 17 There is hope for your future, says the LORD, and your children shall come back to their own country. |
| 18 Eu ouvi atentamente o gemido de Efraim (quando ia para o cativeiro): Castigaste-me e fui corrigido, qual novilho ainda não domado; converte-me, e converter-me-ei, porque tu és o Senhor meu Deus. | 18 I have heard Ephraim bemoaning, 'Thou hast chastened me, and I was chastened, like an untrained calf; bring me back that I may be restored, for thou art the LORD my God. |
| 19 Sim, depois de me perverter, fiz penitência; depois que compreendi, bati sobre a minha coxa (em sinal de dor). Estou confuso e envergonhado, porque sofro o opróbrio da minha mocidade. | 19 For after I had turned away I repented; and after I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh; I was ashamed, and I was confounded, because I bore the disgrace of my youth.' |
| 20 Efraim não é para mim um filho honrado, um filho da minha ternura? Por isso, embora eu fale contra ele, não deixo de me lembrar dele. Por isso se comoveram as minhas entranhas por ele; compadecido, terei misericórdia dele, diz o Senhor. | 20 Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he my darling child? For as often as I speak against him, I do remember him still. Therefore my heart yearns for him; I will surely have mercy on him, says the LORD. |
| 21 Levanta colunas (indicadoras) ergue sinais para ti, presta atenção ao caminho em que andaste; volta, virgem de Israel, volta a essas tuas cidades. | 21 "Set up waymarks for yourself, make yourself guideposts; consider well the highway, the road by which you went. Return, O virgin Israel, return to these your cities. |
| 22 Até quando andarás vagabunda, filha infiel? Porque o Senhor criou (ou fez) uma coisa nova sobre a terra: Uma mulher cercará um homem. | 22 How long will you waver, O faithless daughter? For the LORD has created a new thing on the earth: a woman protects a man." |
| 23 Assim fala o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Ainda dirão estas palavras na terra de Judá e nas suas cidades, quando eu tiver mudado a sua sorte: O Senhor te abençoe, ó mansão da justiça, ó monte santo! | 23 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: "Once more they shall use these words in the land of Judah and in its cities, when I restore their fortunes: 'The LORD bless you, O habitation of righteousness, O holy hill!' |
| 24 Habitarão aí Judá e todas as suas cidades juntamente, os lavrador® e os que pastoreiam os rebanhos. | 24 And Judah and all its cities shall dwell there together, and the farmers and those who wander with their flocks. |
| 25 Porque dessedentarei a alma sequiosa, e fartarei toda a alma faminta. | 25 For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish." |
| 26 Depois disto despertei e vi que o meu sono foi doce para mim. | 26 Thereupon I awoke and looked, and my sleep was pleasant to me. |
| 27 Eis vêm dias, diz o Senhor, em que semearei a casa de Israel e a casa de Judá de semente de homens e de semente de animais. | 27 "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man and the seed of beast. |
| 28 E, assim como vigiei sobre eles para desarraigar, demolir, dissipar, arruinar e afligir, do mesmo modo vigiarei sobre eles para edificar e plantar, diz o Senhor. | 28 And it shall come to pass that as I have watched over them to pluck up and break down, to overthrow, destroy, and bring evil, so I will watch over them to build and to plant, says the LORD. |
| 29 Naqueles dias não se dirá mais: Os pais comeram uvas verdes, e os dentes dos filhos é que ficaram botos. | 29 In those days they shall no longer say: 'The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge.' |
| 30 Mas morrerá pela sua iniquidade; a todo o homem que comer uvas verdes, a esse é que ficarão botos os dentes. | 30 But every one shall die for his own sin; each man who eats sour grapes, his teeth shall be set on edge. |
| 31 Estão a chegar os dias, diz o Senhor, em que farei nova aliança com a casa de Israel e com a casa de Judá, | 31 "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, |
| 32 diferente da aliança que fiz com seus pais no dia em que os tomei pela mão, para os tirar da terra do Egito, aliança que eles violaram. (Por isso) fiz sentir sobre eles o meu poder, diz o Senhor. | 32 not like the covenant which I made with their fathers when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant which they broke, though I was their husband, says the LORD. |
| 33 Eis a aliança que farei com a casa de Israel, depois daqueles dias, diz o Senhor; Imprimirei a minha lei no seu íntimo. escrevê-la-ei nos seus corações; serei o seu Deus, e eles serão o meu povo. | 33 But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it upon their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. |
| 34 Ninguém ensinará mais o seu próximo, nem o seu irmão, dizendo: Conhece o Senhor - porque todos me conhecerão, desde o mais pequeno até ao maior, diz o Senhor, pois perdoarei a sua maldade e não me lembrarei mais do seu pecado. | 34 And no longer shall each man teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, says the LORD; for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more." |
| 35 Assim fala o Senhor, que dá o sol para luz do dia, e a lua e as estrelas para luz da noite; que agita o mar e faz bramir as ondas, aquele cujo nome é Senhor dos exércitos: | 35 Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for light by day and the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar--the LORD of hosts is his name: |
| 36 Se falharem estas leis diante de mim, diz o Senhor, então poderá também a linhagem de Israel deixar de ser diante de mim uma nação para sempre. | 36 "If this fixed order departs from before me, says the LORD, then shall the descendants of Israel cease from being a nation before me for ever." |
| 37 Isto diz o Senhor: Se puderem ser medidos os céus, lá em cima, e sondados os fundamentos da terra, cá em baixo, então abandonarei toda a linhagem de Israel por todas as coisas que fizeram, diz o Senhor. | 37 Thus says the LORD: "If the heavens above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth below can be explored, then I will cast off all the descendants of Israel for all that they have done, says the LORD." |
| 38 Estão a chegar os dias, diz o Senhor, em que será reedificada pelo Senhor esta cidade, desde a torre de Hananeel até à porta do Ângulo. | 38 "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when the city shall be rebuilt for the LORD from the tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate. |
| 39 E estender-se-á mais adiante o cordel de medir, em frente dessa (porta), sobre o outeiro de Gareb, e dará volta por Goat. | 39 And the measuring line shall go out farther, straight to the hill Gareb, and shall then turn to Goah. |
| 40 Todo o vale dos cadáveres e da cinza, todos os campos dos mortos, até à torrente do Cedron e até ao ângulo da Porta dos Cavalos, que está no oriente, tudo isso será consagrado ao Senhor, e não será jámais devastado nem destruído. | 40 The whole valley of the dead bodies and the ashes, and all the fields as far as the brook Kidron, to the corner of the Horse Gate toward the east, shall be sacred to the LORD. It shall not be uprooted or overthrown any more for ever." |
