| 1 Naquele tempo Merodach-Baladan, filho de Baladan, rei da Babilônia, enviou carta e presentes a Ezequias, por ter ouvido dizer que estivera doente e que já se encontrava curado. | 1 At that time Merodach-baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent envoys with letters and a present to Hezekiah, for he heard that he had been sick and had recovered. |
| 2 Ezequias alegrou-se com isto, e mostrou aos enviados o seu tesouro, a prata, o ouro, os perfumes, os unguentos preciosos, o seu arsenal e tudo o que se encontrava nos seus tesouros. Não houve nada no seu palácio nem do que estava debaixo do seu poder, que Ezequias lhes não mostrasse. | 2 And Hezekiah welcomed them; and he showed them his treasure house, the silver, the gold, the spices, the precious oil, his whole armory, all that was found in his storehouses. There was nothing in his house or in all his realm that Hezekiah did not show them. |
| 3 Então o profeta Isaías foi ter com o rei Ezequias e disse-lhe: Que te disseram estes homens? Donde vieram eles para te falar? Ezequias respondeu: Vieram ver-me de um país muito remoto, de Babilônia. | 3 Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah, and said to him, "What did these men say? And whence did they come to you?" Hezekiah said, "They have come to me from a far country, from Babylon." |
| 4 Isaías disse: Que viram eles em tua casa? Ezequias respondeu: Viram tudo o que há em minha casa; não houve nos meus tesouros coisa que eu deixasse de lhes mostrar. | 4 He said, "What have they seen in your house?" Hezekiah answered, "They have seen all that is in my house; there is nothing in my storehouses that I did not show them." |
| 5 Isaías disse a Ezequias: Ouve a palavra do Senhor dos exércitos: | 5 Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Hear the word of the LORD of hosts: |
| 6 Eis que virão dias em que todas as coisas, que há na tua casa, e que teus pais entesouraram até ao dia de hoje, serão levadas a Babilônia; não ficará coisa alguma, diz o Senhor. | 6 Behold, the days are coming, when all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have stored up till this day, shall be carried to Babylon; nothing shall be left, says the LORD. |
| 7 E tomarão dos teus filhos, que saírem de ti, que tiveres gerado, para servirem de eunucos no palácio do rei de Babilônia. | 7 And some of your own sons, who are born to you, shall be taken away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon." |
| 8 Ezequias disse a Isaías: A palavra que o Senhor proferiu é boa. E acrescentou: Haverá, com efeito, paz e segurança ao menos durante a minha vida. | 8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, "The word of the LORD which you have spoken is good." For he thought, "There will be peace and security in my days." |
