| 1 Porventura a sabedoria não está repetidas vezes clamando, e a prudência não faz ouvir a sua voz? No mais alto e elevado das eminências, ao longo do caminho, nas encruzilhadas ela está de pé,. | 1 Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice? |
| 2 She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths. |
| 3 junto às portas da cidade, na mesma entrada ela fala, dizendo: | 3 She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors. |
| 4 A vós, ó homens, é que eu estou continuamente clamando, e aos filhos dos homens é que se dirige a minha voz. Aprendei, ó inexperientes, a prudência, e vós, insensatos, tomai inteligência. | 4 Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man. |
| 5 O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart. |
| 6 Ouvi, porque tenho de vos falar acerca de grandes coisas, e os meus lábios se abrirão, para anunciarem o que é recto. A minha boca publicará a verdade, e os meus lábios detestarão o ímpio. | 6 Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things. |
| 7 For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. |
| 8 Todas as minhas palavras são justas, nelas não há coisa tortuosa nem perversa. | 8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them. |
| 9 Todas são rectas para os inteligentes, e de equidade para os que encontraram a ciência. | 9 They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge. |
| 10 Recebei as minhas instruções com maior gosto do que dinheiro, preferi a ciência ao oiro fino. | 10 Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. |
| 11 Vale mais a sabedoria que as pérolas, e tudo quanto é apetecível não se pode comparar com ela. | 11 For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. |
| 12 Eu, a sabedoria, tenho comigo o (bom) conselho, possuo a ciência e a reflexão. | 12 I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions. |
| 13 O temor do Senhor odeia o mal. Eu detesto a arrogância e a soberba, o caminho corrompido e a língua perversa. | 13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. |
| 14 Meu é o conselho e a equidade, minha é a inteligência, minha a fortaleza. | 14 Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength. |
| 15 Por mim reinam os reis, e por mim decretam os legisladores o que é justo. | 15 By me kings reign, and princes decree justice. |
| 16 Por mim imperam os príncipes, e os soberanos governam com rectidão. | 16 By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth. |
| 17 Eu amo os que me amam, e o que me busca encontrar-me-á. | 17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. |
| 18 Comigo estarão as riquezas e a gloria, a sólida opulência e a justiça. | 18 Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness. |
| 19 Melhor é o meu fruto que o oiro mais fino,, as minhas produções melhores que a prata mais pura. | 19 My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. |
| 20 Eu ando nos caminhos da justiça, no meio das veredas da equidade, | 20 I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment: |
| 21 para enriquecer os que me amam, para encher os seus tesouros. | 21 That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures. |
| 22 O Senhor me possuiu no principio de seus caminhos, desde o princípio, antes que criasse coisa alguma. | 22 The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. |
| 23 Desde a eternidade fui constituída, desde o princípio, antes que a terra fosse criada. | 23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. |
| 24 Ainda não havia os abismos, e eu estava já concebida, ainda as fontes das águas não tinham brotado, | 24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. |
| 25 ainda se não tinham assentado os montes sobre as suas bases; antes de haver outeiros, eu tinha já nascido. | 25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth: |
| 26 Ainda ele não tinha criado a terra, nem os campos, nem o primeiro pó da terra, Quando ele preparava os céus, eu estava presente; quando, por uma lei inviolável, encerrava os abismos dentro dos seus limites; | 26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world. |
| 27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth: |
| 28 quando firmava lá no alto a região etérea, e quando equilibrava as fontes das águas; | 28 When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep: |
| 29 quando circunscrevia ao mar o seu termo, e punha lei às águas, para que não passassem os seus limites; quando assentava os fundamentos da terra, | 29 When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth: |
| 30 eu estava com ele, como arquitecto; cada dia me deleitava, recreando-me continuamente diante dele, | 30 Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him; |
| 31 recreando-me sobre o globo da terra, e achando as minhas delícias em estar com os filhos dos homens. | 31 Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men. |
| 32 Agora, pois, meus filhos, ouvi-me: Bem-aventurados os que seguem os meus caminhos. | 32 Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways. |
| 33 Ouvi as minhas instruções, e sede sábios, não queirais rejeitá-las. | 33 Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. |
| 34 Bem-aventurado o homem que me ouve, e que vela todos os dias à entrada da minha casa, e que se conserva à porta da minha casa. | 34 Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. |
| 35 Aquele que me achar, achará a vida, e alcançará o favor do Senhor. | 35 For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD. |
| 36 Aquele, porém, que pecar contra mim, fará mal à sua alma. Todos os que me odeiam amam a morte. | 36 But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death. |
