| 1 O Senhor disse a Moisés: Repara que te constitui deus de Faraó; Aarão, teu irmão, será teu profeta. | 1 And the LORD said to Moses, "See, I make you as God to Pharaoh; and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet. |
| 2 Tu lhe dirás tudo o que eu te mando, e ele falará a Faraó, para que deixe partir do seu país os filhos de Israel. | 2 You shall speak all that I command you; and Aaron your brother shall tell Pharaoh to let the people of Israel go out of his land. |
| 3 Eu endurecerei o seu coração, e multiplicarei os meus sinais e os meus prodigios na terra do Egipto. | 3 But I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, |
| 4 Faraó não vos ouvirá, mas eu estenderei a minha mão sobre o Egipto e farei sair do Egipto o meu exército, o meu povo, os filhos de Israel, por meio dos maiores juízos. | 4 Pharaoh will not listen to you; then I will lay my hand upon Egypt and bring forth my hosts, my people the sons of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great acts of judgment. |
| 5 Os Egípcios saberão que eu sou o Senhor, quando eu estender a minha mão sobre o Egipto, e fizer sair do meio deles os filhos de Israel. | 5 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch forth my hand upon Egypt and bring out the people of Israel from among them." |
| 6 Fizeram, pois, Moisés e Aarão como o Senhor tinha mandado; fizeram-no exactamente. | 6 And Moses and Aaron did so; they did as the LORD commanded them. |
| 7 Moisés tinha oitenta anos, e Aarão oitenta e três, quando falaram a Faraó. | 7 Now Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron eighty- three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh. |
| 8 O Senhor disse a Moisés e a Aarão: | 8 And the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, |
| 9 Quando Faraó vos disser: Fazei um prodígio-tu dirás a Aarão: Pega na tua vara, lança-a por terra diante de Faraó, e ela se converterá em serpente. | 9 "When Pharaoh says to you, 'Prove yourselves by working a miracle,' then you shall say to Aaron, 'Take your rod and cast it down before Pharaoh, that it may become a serpent.'" |
| 10 Tendo, pois, Moisés e Aarão ido à presença de Faraó, fizeram conforme o Senhor tinha ordenado: Aarão lançou por terra a vara diante de Faraó e dos seus servos, e ela converteu-se em serpente. | 10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did as the LORD commanded; Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a serpent. |
| 11 Mas Faraó chamou os sábios e os magos, e eles fizeram também coisas semelhantes por meio dos encantamentos egípcios e de certos segredos. | 11 Then Pharaoh summoned the wise men and the sorcerers; and they also, the magicians of Egypt, did the same by their secret arts. |
| 12 Lançaram por terra cada um deles as suas varas, as quais se converteram em dragões, mas a vara de Aarão devorou as varas deles. | 12 For every man cast down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods. |
| 13 Endureceu-se o coração de Faraó e não os ouviu, como o Senhor tinha dito. | 13 Still Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he would not listen to them; as the LORD had said. |
| 14 O Senhor disse a Moisés: Obstinou-se o coração de Faraó; não quer deixar partir o (meu) povo. | 14 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Pharaoh's heart is hardened, he refuses to let the people go. |
| 15 Vai ter com ele pela manhã. Ele sairá (para ir) ao rio, e tu estarás em frente dele sobre a margem do rio, tomarás na tua mão a vara, que se converteu em dragão, | 15 Go to Pharaoh in the morning, as he is going out to the water; wait for him by the river's brink, and take in your hand the rod which was turned into a serpent. |
| 16 e lhe dirás: o Senhor Deus dos Hebreus enviou-me a ti para (te) dizer: Deixa sair o meu povo para que me ofereça sacrifícios no deserto. Até ao presente não quiseste ouvir. | 16 And you shall say to him, 'The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, sent me to you, saying, "Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness; and behold, you have not yet obeyed." |
| 17 Olha, pois, o que diz o Senhor: Nisto conhecerás que eu sou o Senhor: ferirei com a vara, que tenho na minha mão, a água do rio e ela se converterá em sangue. | 17 Thus says the LORD, "By this you shall know that I am the LORD: behold, I will strike the water that is in the Nile with the rod that is in my hand, and it shall be turned to blood, |
| 18 Os peixes que há no rio morrerão, as águas se corromperão, e os Egípcios sentirão repugnância de a beber. | 18 and the fish in the Nile shall die, and the Nile shall become foul, and the Egyptians will loathe to drink water from the Nile.'" |
| 19 O Senhor disse também a Moisés; Dize a Aarão: Toma a tua vara, e estende a tua mão sobre as águas do Egipto, sobre os seus rios, ribeiros, lagoas, e todos os reservatórios de águas, para que se convertam em sangue; e haverá sangue em toda a terra do Egipto, tanto nos vasos de madeira, como nos de pedra. | 19 And the LORD said to Moses, "Say to Aaron, 'Take your rod and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, their canals, and their ponds, and all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and there shall be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.'" |
| 20 Moisés e Aarão fizeram como o Senhor lhes mandará. (Aarão), levantando a vara, feriu a água do rio, na presença de Faraó e dos seus servos, e ela converteu-se em sangue. | 20 Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded; in the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants, he lifted up the rod and struck the water that was in the Nile, and all the water that was in the Nile turned to blood. |
| 21 Os peixes, que havia no rio, morreram, e o rio, corrompeu-se, e os Egípcios não podiam beber da água do rio, e houve sangue por toda a terra do Egípto. | 21 And the fish in the Nile died; and the Nile became foul, so that the Egyptians could not drink water from the Nile; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt. |
| 22 Porém os magos do Egipto fizeram coisas semelhantes com os seus encantamentos, e o coração de Faraó endureceu-se, e não os ouviu, como o Senhor tinha predito. | 22 But the magicians of Egypt did the same by their secret arts; so Pharaoh's heart remained hardened, and he would not listen to them; as the LORD had said. |
| 23 (Faraó) voltou-lhes as costas, entrou em sua casa e não aplicou o seu coração (a estas coisas) ainda desta vez. | 23 Pharaoh turned and went into his house, and he did not lay even this to heart. |
| 24 Todos os Egípcios cavaram nos arredores do rio para encontrar água potável, porque não podiam beber da água do rio | 24 And all the Egyptians dug round about the Nile for water to drink, for they could not drink the water of the Nile. |
| 25 Passaram-se (entretanto) sete dias, depois que o Senhor feriu o rio. | 25 Seven days passed after the LORD had struck the Nile. |
