| 1 Quando Salomão acabou de edificar a casa do Senhor, o palácio do rei e tudo o que tinha desejado fazer, | 1 When Solomon had finished building the house of the LORD and the king's house and all that Solomon desired to build, |
| 2 apareceu-lhe o Senhor segunda vez, como tinha aparecido em Gabaon. | 2 the LORD appeared to Solomon a second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon. |
| 3 O Senhor disse-lhe: Eu ouvi a tua oração e a súplica, que me dirigiste; santifiquei esta casa, que me edificaste, a fim de nela estabelecer para sempre o meu nome: nela estarão sempre os meus olhos e o meu coração. | 3 And the LORD said to him, "I have heard your prayer and your supplication, which you have made before me; I have consecrated this house which you have built, and put my name there for ever; my eyes and my heart will be there for all time. |
| 4 E tu, se andares na minha presença, como andou teu pai, em simplicidade e rectidão de coração, se fizeres tudo o que tenho mandado, guardando as minhas leis e as minhas ordenações, | 4 And as for you, if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, with integrity of heart and uprightness, doing according to all that I have commanded you, and keeping my statutes and my ordinances, |
| 5 eu estabelecerei o trono do teu reino sobre Israel para sempre, como prometi a Davide, teu pai, dizendo: Não faltará nunca um homem da tua linhagem no trono de Israel. | 5 then I will establish your royal throne over Israel for ever, as I promised David your father, saying, 'There shall not fail you a man upon the throne of Israel.' |
| 6 Porém se, obstinadamente, vos desviardes de mim, vós e vossos filhos, não me seguindo nem guardando os preceitos e as ordens que vos dei, se vos retirardes e prestardes culto a deuses estranhos, e os adorardes, | 6 But if you turn aside from following me, you or your children, and do not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods and worship them, |
| 7 eu exterminarei Israel da terra que lhe dei, dançarei para longe da minha presença o templo que consagrei ao meu nome, e Israel será objecto de sarcasmo e de troça para todos os povos. | 7 then I will cut off Israel from the land which I have given them; and the house which I have consecrated for my name I will cast out of my sight; and Israel will become a proverb and a byword among all peoples. |
| 8 Esta casa (feita em ruínas) servirá de exemplo (da minha justiça); todo o que passar por diante dela, ficará pasmado, desprezá-la-á e dirá: Por que tratou o Senhor assim esta terra e este templo? | 8 And this house will become a heap of ruins; everyone passing by it will be astonished, and will hiss; and they will say, 'Why has the LORD done thus to this land and to this house?' |
| 9 Responder-lhe-ão: Porque estes povos deixaram o Senhor, seu Deus, que tirou seus pais da terra do Egipto, porque seguiram deuses estranhos, prostraram-se diante deles e adoraram-nos; por isso o Senhor descarregou sobre eles todo este mal. | 9 Then they will say, 'Because they forsook the LORD their God who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them and served them; therefore the LORD has brought all this evil upon them.'" |
| 10 Passados os vinte anos, durante os quais Salomão edificou as duas casas, Isto é, a casa do Senhor, e a casa do rei, | 10 At the end of twenty years, in which Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the LORD and the king's house, |
| 11 (mandando Hirão, rei de Tiro, a Salomão madeira de cedro e cipreste, e ouro, tanto quanto era mister) Salomão deu a Hirão vinte cidades no país da Galileia. | 11 and Hiram king of Tyre had supplied Solomon with cedar and cypress timber and gold, as much as he desired, King Solomon gave to Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee. |
| 12 Hirão saiu de Tiro para ver as cidades que Salomão lhe tinha dado, mas não lhe agradaram, | 12 But when Hiram came from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him, they did not please him. |
| 13 e disse: São estas, irmão, as cidades que me deste? E chamou-as terra de Cabul, (nome que conservam) até ao dia de hoje. | 13 Therefore he said, "What kind of cities are these which you have given me, my brother?" So they are called the land of Cabul to this day. |
| 14 (Hirão tinha também mandado ao rei Salomão cento e vinte talentos de ouro), | 14 Hiram had sent to the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold. |
| 15 O motivo que o rei Salomão teve para lançar um tributo (sobre o seu povo) foi a grande despesa que fez para edificar a casa do Senhor, a sua casa, Melo, os muros de Jerusalém, Heser, Magedo e Gazer. | 15 And this is the account of the forced labor which King Solomon levied to build the house of the LORD and his own house and the Millo and the wall of Jerusalem and Hazor and Megiddo and Gezer |
| 16 Faraó, rei do Egipto, subiu, tomou Gazer e queimou-a, matando os Cananeus que habitavam na cidade, e deu-a em dote a sua filha, mulher de Salomão. | 16 (Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up and captured Gezer and burnt it with fire, and had slain the Canaanites who dwelt in the city, and had given it as dowry to his daughter, Solomon's wife; |
| 17 Salomão reedificou Gazer, Betoron-a-Baixa, | 17 so Solomon rebuilt Gezer) and Lower Beth-horon |
| 18 Balaat e Palmira, na terra do deserto. | 18 and Baalath and Tamar in the wilderness, in the land of Judah, |
| 19 Fortificou todas as aldeias destinadas a entrepostos, e que não tinham muros, as cidades destinadas a carros (de guerra), as cidades destinadas a gente de cavalo, e tudo o que lhe aprouve edificar em Jerusalém, no Líbano e em toda a extensão dos seus domínios, | 19 and all the store-cities that Solomon had, and the cities for his chariots, and the cities for his horsemen, and whatever Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion. |
| 20 Toda a gente que tinha ficado dos Amorreus, dos Heteus, dos Ferezeus, dos Heveus, dos Jebuseus, que não eram dos filhos de Israel, | 20 All the people who were left of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of the people of Israel-- |
| 21 os filhos destes (povos) que tinham ficado no país, que os filhos de Israel não puderam exterminar, Salomão empregou-os como escravos de trabalhos pesados, o que ainda hoje, continuam a ser. | 21 their descendants who were left after them in the land, whom the people of Israel were unable to destroy utterly--these Solomon made a forced levy of slaves, and so they are to this day. |
| 22 Quanto aos filhos de Israel, Salomão determinou que nenhum servisse (de escravo), mas que fossem seus homens de guerra, seus servidores, seus primeiros oficiais, capitães, comandantes dos carros de guerra e da cavalaria. | 22 But of the people of Israel Solomon made no slaves; they were the soldiers, they were his officials, his commanders, his captains, his chariot commanders and his horsemen. |
| 23 Havia quinhentos e cinqüenta homens estabelecidos sobre todas as obras de Salomão, os quais tinham o povo sujeito às suas ordens e eram os superintendentes de todas as obras determinadas. | 23 These were the chief officers who were over Solomon's work: five hundred and fifty, who had charge of the people who carried on the work. |
| 24 Veio a filha de Faraó da cidade de Davide para a casa, que lhe tinha edificado Salomão, o qual então edificou Melo. | 24 But Pharaoh's daughter went up from the city of David to her own house which Solomon had built for her; then he built the Millo. |
| 25 Oferecia Salomão, três vezes cada ano, holocaustos e vitimas pacíficas, sobre o altar que tinha levantado ao Senhor, e queimava perfumes diante do Senhor. E completou-se o templo. | 25 Three times a year Solomon used to offer up burnt offerings and peace offerings upon the altar which he built to the LORD, burning incense before the LORD. So he finished the house. |
| 26 Equipou também o rei Salomão uma frota em Asiongaber, que é perto de Ailat, na praia do mar Vermelho, na terra da Iduméa. | 26 King Solomon built a fleet of ships at Ezion-geber, which is near Eloth on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom. |
| 27 Hirão mandou nesta frota alguns dos seus servos, homens marinheiros, entendidos em náutica, juntamente com os servos de Salomão. | 27 And Hiram sent with the fleet his servants, seamen who were familiar with the sea, together with the servants of Solomon; |
| 28 Eles, tendo chegado a Ofir, tomaram lá quatrocentos e vinte talentos de ouro, que levaram ao rei Salomão. | 28 and they went to Ophir, and brought from there gold, to the amount of four hundred and twenty talents; and they brought it to King Solomon. |
