| 1 Ora, tendo os homens começado a multiplicar-se sobre a terra, e tendo gerado filhas, | 1 When men began to multiply on earth and daughters were born to them, |
| 2 vendo os filhos de Deus que as filhas dos homens eram formosas, tomaram por suas mulheres as que, dentre todas, lhes agradaram. | 2 the sons of heaven saw how beautiful the daughters of man were, and so they took for their wives as many of them as they chose. |
| 3 E Deus disse: o meu espirito não permanecerá para sempre no homem, porque é carne. Os seus dias serão cento e vinte anos. | 3 Then the LORD said: "My spirit shall not remain in man forever, since he is but flesh. His days shall comprise one hundred and twenty years." |

| 7 disse: exterminarei da face da terra o homem que criei; desde o homem até aos animais, desde os répteis até às aves do céu, porque me pesa de os ter feito. | 7 So the LORD said: "I will wipe out from the earth the men whom I have created, and not only the men, but also the beasts and the creeping things and the birds of the air, for I am sorry that I made them." |

| 9 Esta é a posteridade de Noé. Noé foi um homem justo e perfeito entre os homens do seu tempo, e sempre andou com Deus. | 9 These are the descendants of Noah. Noah, a good man and blameless in that age, |
| 10 Gerou três filhos: Sem, Cam e Jafeth. | 10 for he walked with God, begot three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. |
| 11 Ora a terra estava corrompida diante de Deus e cheia de iniquidade. | 11 In the eyes of God the earth was corrupt and full of lawlessness. |
| 12 Vendo, pois. Deus que a terra estava corrompida (porque toda a carne (todo o homem) tinha corrompido o seu caminho sobre a terra), | 12 When God saw how corrupt the earth had become, since all mortals led depraved lives on earth, |
| 13 disse a Noé: o fim de todos chegou diante de mim; a terra, por suas obras, está cheia de iniquidade, e eu os exterminarei com a terra. | 13 he said to Noah: "I have decided to put an end to all mortals on earth; the earth is full of lawlessness because of them. So I will destroy them and all life on earth. |
| 14 Faze uma arca de madeiras resinosas: farás na arca uns pequenos quartos e calafetá-la-ás com betume por dentro e por fora. | 14 Make yourself an ark of gopherwood, put various compartments in it, and cover it inside and out with pitch. |
| 15 E hás-de fazê-la do seguinte modo: o comprimento da arca será de trezentos côvados, a largura de cincoenta côvados, e a altura de trinta côvados. | 15 This is how you shall build it: the length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. |
| 16 Farás na arca uma janela, um côvado abaixo do seu cume; porás a porta da arca a um lado; farás nela um andar em baixo, um segundo, e um terceiro andar. | 16 Make an opening for daylight in the ark, and finish the ark a cubit above it. Put an entrance in the side of the ark, which you shall make with bottom, second and third decks. |
| 17 Eis que estou para derramar as águas do dilúvio sobre a terra, para fazer morrer toda a carne em que há sopro de vida debaixo do céu; tudo o que há sobre a terra perecerá. | 17 I, on my part, am about to bring the flood (waters) on the earth, to destroy everywhere all creatures in which there is the breath of life; everything on earth shall perish. |
| 18 Mas contigo estabelecerei a minha aliança: e entrarás na arca tu e teus filhos, tua mulher e as mulheres de teus filhos contigo. | 18 But with you I will establish my covenant; you and your sons, your wife and your sons' wives, shall go into the ark. |
| 19 De cada espécie de animais, farás entrar na arca dois, macho e fêmea, para que vivam contigo. | 19 Of all other living creatures you shall bring two into the ark, one male and one female, that you may keep them alive with you. |
| 20 Das aves, segundo a sua espécie, e das bestas, segundo a sua espécie, de todos os répteis da terra, segundo a sua espécie, de todos entrarão contigo dois, para que possam conservar-se. | 20 Of all kinds of birds, of all kinds of beasts, and of all kinds of creeping things, two of each shall come into the ark with you, to stay alive. |
| 21 Tomarás também contigo de todas as coisas que se podem comer, e as levarás junto de ti, (na arca), e servirão de alimento a ti e aos animais. | 21 Moreover, you are to provide yourself with all the food that is to be eaten, and store it away, that it may serve as provisions for you and for them." |
| 22 Fez, pois, Noé tudo o que Deus lhe tinha ordenado. | 22 This Noah did; he carried out all the commands that God gave him. |
