1 Salmo de Asaf. Oh, como Deus é bom para os corações retos, e o Senhor para com aqueles que têm o coração puro!	1 A Psalm of Asaph. How good is God to Israel, to those who are upright in heart.
2 Contudo, meus pés iam resvalar, por pouco não escorreguei,	2 But my feet were nearly moved; my steps had nearly slipped.
3 porque me indignava contra os ímpios, vendo o bem-estar dos maus:	3 For I was zealous over the iniquitous, seeing the peacefulness of sinners.
4 não existe sofrimento para eles, seus corpos são robustos e sadios.	4 For they have no respect for their death, nor do they have support in their wounds.
5 Dos sofrimentos dos mortais não participam, não são atormentados como os outros homens.	5 They are not with the hardships of men, nor will they be scourged with men.
6 Eles se adornam com um colar de orgulho, e se cobrem com um manto de arrogância.	6 Therefore, arrogance has held on to them. They have been covered with their iniquity and impiety.
7 Da gordura que os incha sai a iniquidade, e transborda a temeridade.	7 Their iniquity has proceeded, as if from fat. They have parted from the affection of the heart.
8 Zombam e falam com malícia, discursam, altivamente, em tom ameaçador.	8 They have thought and spoken wickedness. They have spoken iniquity in high places.
9 Com seus propósitos afrontam o céu e suas línguas ferem toda a terra.	9 They have set their mouth against heaven, and their tongue has traversed the earth.
10 Por isso, se volta para eles o meu povo, e bebe com avidez das suas águas.	10 Therefore, my people will be converted here, and fullness of days will be found in them.
11 E dizem então: “Porventura Deus o sabe? Tem o Altíssimo conhecimento disso?”.	11 And they said, “How would God know?” and, “Isn’t there knowledge in high places?”
12 Assim são os pecadores que, tranquilamente, aumentam suas riquezas.	12 Behold, these are sinners, and, abounding in this age, they have obtained riches.
13 Então, foi em vão que conservei o coração puro e na inocência lavei as minhas mãos?	13 And I said: So then, it is without purpose that I have justified my heart and washed my hands among the innocent.
14 Pois tenho sofrido muito e sido castigado cada dia.	14 And I have been scourged all day long, and I have received my chastisement in the mornings.
15 Se eu pensasse: “Também vou falar como eles”, seria infiel à raça de vossos filhos.	15 If I were to say that I would explain this: Behold, I would condemn this nation of your sons.
16 Reflito para compreender este problema, mui penosa me pareceu esta tarefa,	16 I considered, so that I might know this. It is a hardship before me,
17 até o momento em que entrei no vosso santuário e em que me dei conta da sorte que os espera.	17 until I may enter into the Sanctuary of God, and understand it to its last part.
18 Sim, vós os colocais num terreno escorregadio, à ruína vós os conduzis.	18 So, because of deceitfulness, truly, you have placed it before them. While they were being lifted up, you were casting them down.
19 Eis que subitamente se arruinaram, sumiram, destruídos por catástrofe medonha.	19 How have they been brought to desolation? They have suddenly failed. They have perished because of their iniquity.
20 Como de um sonho ao se despertar, Senhor, levantando-vos, desprezais a sombra deles.	20 As a dream is to those who awaken, O Lord, so will you reduce their image to nothing in your city.
21 Quando eu me exasperava e se me atormentava o coração,	21 For my heart has been inflamed, and my temperament has been changed.
22 eu ignorava, não entendia, como um animal qualquer.	22 And so, I have been reduced to nothing, and I did not know it.
23 Mas estarei sempre convosco, porque vós me tomastes pela mão.	23 I have become like a beast of burden to you, and I am always with you.
24 Vossos desígnios me conduzirão, e, por fim, na glória me acolhereis.	24 You have held my right hand. And in your will, you have conducted me, and with your glory, you have taken me up.
25 Afora vós, o que há para mim no céu? Se vos possuo, nada mais me atrai na terra.	25 For what is there for me in heaven? And what do I wish for on earth before you?
26 Meu coração e minha carne podem já desfalecer, a rocha de meu coração e minha herança eterna é Deus.	26 My body has failed, and my heart: O God of my heart, and God my portion, into eternity.
27 Sim, perecem aqueles que de vós se apartam, destruís os que procuram satisfação fora de vós.	27 For behold, those who put themselves far from you will perish. You have perished all those who fornicate away from you.
28 Mas, para mim, a felicidade é me aproximar de Deus, é pôr minha confiança no Senhor Deus, a fim de narrar as vossas maravilhas diante das portas da filha de Sião.	28 But it is good for me to adhere to God, to put my hope in the Lord God, so that I may announce all your prophecies, at the gates of the daughter of Zion.
