1 Corinthians 1

1 Paul, called as an Apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God; and Sosthenes, a brother:	1 Pablo, llamado a ser apóstol de Cristo Jesús por la voluntad de Dios, y Sóstenes, el hermano,
2 to the Church of God which is at Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints with all who are invoking the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place of theirs and of ours.	2 a la Iglesia de Dios que está en Corinto: a los santificados en Cristo Jesús, llamados a ser santos, con cuantos en cualquier lugar invocan el nombre de Jesucristo, Señor nuestro, de nosotros y de ellos
3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.	3 gracia a vosotros y paz de parte de Dios, Padre nuestro, y del Señor Jesucristo.
4 I give thanks to my God continuously for you because of the grace of God that has been given to you in Christ Jesus.	4 Doy gracias a Dios sin cesar por vosotros, a causa de la gracia de Dios que os ha sido otorgada en Cristo Jesús,
5 By that grace, in all things, you have become wealthy in him, in every word and in all knowledge.	5 pues en él habéis sido enriquecidos en todo, en toda palabra y en todo conocimiento,
6 And so, the testimony of Christ has been strengthened in you.	6 en la medida en que se ha consolidado entre vosotros el testimonio de Cristo.
7 In this way, nothing is lacking to you in any grace, as you await the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.	7 Así, ya no os falta ningún don de gracia a los que esperáis la Revelación de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
8 And he, too, will strengthen you, even until the end, without guilt, until the day of the advent of our Lord Jesus Christ.	8 El os fortalecerá hasta el fin para que seáis irreprensibles en el Día de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
9 God is faithful. Through him, you have been called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.	9 Pues fiel es Dios, por quien habéis sido llamados a la comunión con su hijo Jesucristo, Señor nuestro.
10 And so, I beg you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that every one of you speak in the same way, and that there be no schisms among you. So may you become perfect, with the same mind and with the same judgment.	10 Os conjuro, hermanos, por el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, a que tengáis todos un mismo hablar, y no haya entre vosotros divisiones; antes bien, estéis unidos en una misma mentalidad y un mismo juicio.
11 For it has been indicated to me, about you, my brothers, by those who are with Chloes, that there are contentions among you.	11 Porque, hermanos míos, estoy informado de vosotros, por los de Cloe, que existen discordias entre vosotros.
12 Now I say this because each of you is saying: “Certainly, I am of Paul;” “But I am of Apollo;” “Truly, I am of Cephas;” as well as: “I am of Christ.”	12 Me refiero a que cada uno de vosotros dice: «Yo soy de Pablo», «Yo de Apolo», «Yo de Cefas», «Yo de Cristo».
13 Has Christ been divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?	13 ¿Esta dividido Cristo? ¿Acaso fue Pablo crucificado por vosotros? ¿O habéis sido bautizados en el nombre de Pablo?
14 I give thanks to God that I have baptized none of you, except Crispus and Gaius,	14 ¡Doy gracias a Dios por no haber bautizado a ninguno de vosotros fuera de Crispo y Gayo!
15 lest anyone say that you have been baptized in my name.	15 Así, nadie puede decir que habéis sido bautizados en mi nombre.
16 And I also baptized the household of Stephanus. Other than these, I do not recall if I baptized any others.	16 ¡Ah, sí!, también bauticé a la familia de Estéfanas. Por lo demás, no creo haber bautizado a ningún otro.
17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to evangelize: not through the wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ become empty.	17 Porque no me envió Cristo a bautizar, sino a predicar el Evangelio. Y no con palabras sabias, para no desvirtuar la cruz de Cristo.
18 For the Word of the Cross is certainly foolishness to those who are perishing. But to those who have been saved, that is, to us, it is the power of God.	18 Pues la predicación de la cruz es una necedad para los que se pierden; mas para los que se salvan - para nosotros - es fuerza de Dios.
19 For it has been written: “I will perish the wisdom of the wise, and I will reject the discernment of the prudent.”	19 Porque dice la Escritura: Destruiré la sabiduría de los sabios, e inutilizaré la inteligencia de los inteligentes.
20 Where are the wise? Where are the scribes? Where are the truth-seekers of this age? Has not God made the wisdom of this world into foolishness?	20 ¿Dónde está el sabio? ¿Dónde el docto? ¿Dónde el sofista de este mundo? ¿Acaso no entondeció Dios la sabiduría del mundo?
21 For the world did not know God through wisdom, and so, in the wisdom of God, it pleased God to accomplish the salvation of believers, through the foolishness of our preaching.	21 De hecho, como el mundo mediante su propia sabiduría no conoció a Dios en su divina sabiduría, quiso Dios salvar a los creyentes mediante la necedad de la predicación.
22 For the Jews ask for signs, and the Greeks seek wisdom.	22 Así, mientras los judíos piden señales y los griegos buscan sabiduría,
23 But we are preaching Christ crucified. Certainly, to the Jews, this is a scandal, and to the Gentiles, this is foolishness.	23 nosotros predicamos a un Cristo crucificado: escándalo para los judíos, necedad para los gentiles;
24 But to those who have been called, Jews as well as Greeks, the Christ is the virtue of God and the wisdom of God.	24 mas para los llamados, lo mismo judíos que griegos, un Cristo, fuerza de Dios y sabiduría de Dios.
25 For what is foolishness to God is considered wise by men, and that which is weakness to God is considered strong by men.	25 Porque la necedad divina es más sabia que la sabiduría de los hombres, y la debilidad divina, más fuerte que la fuerza de los hombres.
26 So take care of your vocation, brothers. For not many are wise according to the flesh, not many are powerful, not many are noble.	26 ¡Mirad, hermanos, quiénes habéis sido llamados! No hay muchos sabios según la carne ni muchos poderosos ni muchos de la nobleza.
27 But God has chosen the foolish of the world, so that he may confound the wise. And God has chosen the weak of the world, so that he may confound the strong.	27 Ha escogido Dios más bien lo necio del mundo para confundir a los sabios. Y ha escogido Dios lo débil del mundo, para confundir lo fuerte.
28 And God has chosen the ignoble and contemptible of the world, those who are nothing, so that he may reduce to nothing those who are something.	28 Lo plebeyo y despreciable del mundo ha escogido Dios; lo que no es, para reducir a la nada lo que es.
29 So then, nothing that is of the flesh should glory in his sight.	29 Para que ningún mortal se gloríe en la presencia de Dios.
30 But you are of him in Christ Jesus, who was made by God to be our wisdom and justice and sanctification and redemption.	30 De él os viene que estéis en Cristo Jesús, al cual hizo Dios para nosotros sabiduría de origen divino, justicia, santificación y redención,
31 And so, in the same way, it was written: “Whoever glories, should glory in the Lord.”	31 a fin de que, como dice la Escritura: El que se gloríe, gloríese en el Señor.
