Ezekiel 21

1 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:	1 La palabra del Señor me llegó en estos términos:
2 “Son of man, set your face toward Jerusalem, and pour in drops toward the sanctuaries, and prophesy against the soil of Israel.	2 Hijo de hombre, vuelve tu rostro en dirección al sur, vaticina hacia el sur y profetiza contra el bosque del campo del Négueb.
3 And you shall say to the land of Israel: Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against you, and I will cast my sword from its sheath, and I will slay the just and the impious among you.	3 Tú dirás al bosque del Négueb: Escucha la palabra del Señor. Así habla el Señor: Yo voy a prenderte fuego, y él consumirá todo árbol verde y todo árbol seco. La llama ardiente no se extinguirá y arderá toda la superficie, desde el Négueb hasta el norte.
4 But in as much as I have slain among you the just and the impious, for this reason my sword will go forth from its sheath against all flesh, from the south even to the north.	4 Y todos los mortales verán que yo, el Señor, soy el que encendí ese fuego, que no se extinguirá.
5 So may all flesh know that I, the Lord, have led my sword out of its sheath irrevocably.	5 Yo exclamé: ¡Ay, Señor! Ellos andan diciendo de mí: «¡Este no es más que un fabulador!».
6 And as for you, son of man, groan in the breaking of your back, and groan in bitterness before them.	6 La palabra del Señor me llegó en estos términos:
7 And when they will say to you, ‘Why are you groaning?’ you shall say: ‘On behalf of the report, For it is approaching. And every heart will waste away, and every hand will be broken, and every spirit will be weakened, and water will flow across every knee.’ Behold, it is approaching and it will happen, says the Lord God.”	7 Hijo del hombre, vuelve tu rostro hacia Jerusalén, vaticina contra sus santuarios y profetiza contra la tierra de Israel.
8 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:	8 Tú dirás a la tierra de Israel: Así habla el Señor: Aquí estoy contra ti: yo sacaré mi espada de su vaina y extirparé de ti al justo y al impío.
9 “Son of man, prophesy, and you shall say: Thus says the Lord God: Speak: The sword! The sword has been sharpened and polished!	9 Porque quiero extirpar de ti al justo y al impío, por eso saldrá mi espada de su vaina contra todos ustedes, desde el sur hasta el norte.
10 It has been sharpened, so that it may cut down victims! It has been polished, so that it may shine! You are disturbing the scepter of my son. You have cut down every tree.	10 Y todos los mortales sabrán que yo, el Señor, he sacado mi espada de su vaina, y no volverá a ser envainada.
11 And I have sent it to be made smooth, so that it may be handled. This sword has been sharpened, and it has been polished, so that it may be in the hand of the one who kills.	11 Y tú, hijo de hombre, gime; agobiado por el dolor, gime amargamente a la vista de ellos.
12 Cry out and wail, O son of man! For this has been done among my people, this is among all the leaders of Israel, who have fled. They have been handed over to the sword, with my people. Therefore, slap your thigh,	12 Y cuando te pregunten: «¿Por qué gimes?», tú les responderás: Es por una noticia. Apenas llegue, desfallecerán todos los corazones, se paralizarán todas las manos, decaerán todos los espíritus y flaquearán todas las rodillas. Y a está por llegar, ya va a suceder –oráculo del Señor–.
13 for it has been tested. And this one, when he will have overthrown the scepter, will not be, says the Lord God.	13 La palabra del Señor me llegó en estos términos:
14 You therefore, O son of man, prophesy, and strike hand against hand, and let the sword be doubled, and let the sword of the slain be tripled. This is the sword of the great slaughter, which causes them to be utterly stupefied,	14 Profetiza, hijo de hombre, y di: Así habla el Señor: ¡Una espada, una espada afilada y bruñida!
15 and to waste away in heart, and which multiplies ruin. At all their gates, I have presented the consternation of the sword, which has been sharpened and polished so as to shine, which has been dressed for the slaughter.	15 Afilada para provocar una masacre, bruñida para fulgurar como el rayo,
16 Be sharpened! Go to the right or to the left, whichever way is the desire of your face.	16 Se la hizo bruñir para empuñarla: la espada fue afilada y bruñida para ponerla en mano de un verdugo.
17 And then I will clap hand against hand, and I will fulfill my indignation. I, the Lord, have spoken.”	17 ¡Grita, laméntate, hijo de hombre, porque ella se alza contra mi pueblo, contra todos los príncipes de Israel, entregados a la espada junto con mi pueblo! Por eso, golpéate el pecho,
18 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:	18 porque es el momento de la prueba... –oráculo del Señor–.
19 “And as for you, son of man, set for yourself two ways, so that the sword of the king of Babylon may approach. Both shall go forth from one land. And with a hand, he will grasp and cast lots; he will cast at the head of the way of the community.	19 Y tú, hijo de hombre, profetiza, golpea con las palmas de tus manos. Que la espada duplique y triplique sus golpes: ella es la espada de las matanzas, la gran espada de la matanza que los tiene acorralados.
20 You shall appoint a way, so that the sword may approach to Rabbah of the sons of Ammon, or to Judah, into Jerusalem, greatly fortified.	20 Para que desfallezcan los corazones y haya muchas víctimas, yo he puesto en todas las puertas una espada, hecha para fulgurar como el rayo, bruñida para provocar una masacre.
21 For the king of Babylon stood at the fork, at the head of the two ways, seeking divination, shuffling arrows; he inquired of idols, and he consulted entrails.	21 ¡Muestra tu filo a la derecha, toma posición a la izquierda, donde quiera seas dirigida!
22 To his right was set the divination over Jerusalem, to place battering rams so as to open a mouth for the slaughter, to lift up the voice of wailing, to place battering rams opposite the gates, to cast up a rampart, to build fortifications.	22 Yo también golpearé con las palmas de mis manos y aplacaré mi furor. Yo, el Señor, he hablado.
23 And he shall be, in their eyes, like someone consulting an oracle in vain, or imitating the leisure of Sabbaths. But he will call to mind iniquities, so that it will be captured.	23 La palabra del Señor me llegó en estos términos:
24 Therefore, thus says the Lord God: Because you have been remembered in your iniquities, and you have revealed your betrayals, and your sins have appeared within all your plans, because, I say, you have been remembered, you will be captured by a hand.	24 Y tú, hijo de hombre, traza dos caminos para que llegue la espada del rey de Babilonia. Los dos caminos arrancarán de un mismo país. A la entrada de cada camino, pondrás una señal indicando la dirección de una ciudad.
25 But as for you, O impious leader of Israel, whose day has arrived that was predetermined at the time of iniquity:	25 Tú trazarás el camino para que la espada llegue a Rabá de los amonitas, y a Judá, que tiene su plaza fuerte en Jerusalén.
26 Thus says the Lord God: Take away the diadem, remove the crown. Is this not what has exalted the lowly one, and brought low the sublime one?	26 Porque el rey de Babilonia se ha detenido en la encrucijada, allí donde se bifurcan los caminos, para consultar los presagios: sacude las flechas, consulta a los ídolos y examina el hígado de las víctimas.
27 Iniquity, iniquity, iniquity I will make it. And this was not done until the one arrived to whom judgment belongs, and I will hand it over to him.	27 En su mano derecha está el presagio que señala «Jerusalén», para ordenar la matanza, lanzar el grito de guerra, colocar arietes contra las puertas, levantar terraplenes y construir torres de asalto.
28 And as for you, son of man, prophesy, and say: Thus says the Lord God to the sons of Ammon, and to their disgrace, and you shall say: O sword, O sword, unsheathe yourself so as to slay; polish yourself so as to kill and to shine,	28 A los habitantes de Jerusalén les parecerá que ese presagio es falso, porque tienen a su favor un juramento solemne. Pero él les recordará su delito, y serán capturados.
29 while they look upon you in vain, and they divine lies, so that you may be given over to the necks of the wounded impious, whose day has arrived that was predetermined at the time of iniquity.	29 Por eso, así habla el Señor: Porque ustedes, al ser descubiertas sus rebeldías, al ponerse en evidencia los pecados que han cometido en todas sus acciones, han hecho que se les recordara su delito; y por que se han acordado de ustedes, por eso, serán capturados.
30 Be returned to your sheath! I will judge you in the place where you were created, in the land of your nativity.	30 En cuanto a ti, infame malvado, príncipe de Israel, cuyo día ha llegado al mismo tiempo que la expiación final,
31 And I will pour out upon you my indignation. In the fire of my fury, I will fan you, and I will give you over to the hands of cruel men, who have devised destruction.	31 así habla el Señor: ¡Saquen el turbante, quiten la diadema! Esto ya no será más así: lo humilde será elevado, lo excelso será humillado.
32 You will be food for the fire; your blood will be in the midst of the land; you will be delivered to oblivion. For I, the Lord, have spoken.”	32 ¡Ruinas, ruinas, todo lo convierto en ruinas! Pero esto no sucederá hasta que llegue aquel a quien le pertenece el juicio, y a él se lo daré.
	33 Y tú, hijo de hombre, profetiza. Tú dirás: Así habla el Señor acerca de los amonitas y de sus sarcasmos. Tú dirás: ¡Una espada, una espada! Desenvainada para la masacre, bruñida para devorar, para fulgurar como el rayo,
	34 para descargarla sobre el cuello de los infames malvados, cuyo día llegará al mismo tiempo que la expiación final, mientras se tienen acerca de ti visiones ilusorias y se predice la mentira.
	35 ¡Vuelve la espada a la vaina! En el mismo lugar donde fuiste creado, en tu país de origen, yo te juzgaré.
	36 Derramaré mi indignación sobre ti, atizaré contra ti el fuego de mi furor, y te entregaré en manos de gente brutal, artífices del exterminio.
	37 Serás presa del fuego, tu sangre correrá en medio del país, y no quedará ni el recuerdo de ti, porque yo, el Señor, he hablado.
