1 A Canticle Psalm. On the day of the Sabbath.	1 Wer im Schutz des Höchsten wohnt und ruht im Schatten des Allmächtigen,
2 It is good to confess to the Lord and to sing psalms to your name, O Most High:	2 der sagt zum Herrn: «Du bist für mich Zuflucht und Burg, mein Gott, dem ich vertraue.»
3 to announce your mercy in the morning, and your truth throughout the night,	3 Er rettet dich aus der Schlinge des Jägers und aus allem Verderben.
4 upon the ten strings, upon the psaltery, with a canticle, upon stringed instruments.	4 Er beschirmt dich mit seinen Flügeln, unter seinen Schwingen findest du Zuflucht, Schild und Schutz ist dir seine Treue.
5 For you, O Lord, have delighted me with your doings, and I will exult in the works of your hands.	5 Du brauchst dich vor dem Schrecken der Nacht nicht zu fürchten, noch vor dem Pfeil, der am Tag dahinfliegt,
6 How great are your works, O Lord! Your thoughts have been made exceedingly deep.	6 nicht vor der Pest, die im Finstern schleicht, vor der Seuche, die wütet am Mittag.
7 A foolish man will not know these things, and a senseless one will not understand:	7 Fallen auch tausend zu deiner Seite, dir zur Rechten zehnmal tausend, so wird es doch dich nicht treffen.
8 when sinners will have risen up like grass, and when all those who work iniquity will have appeared, that they shall pass away, age after age.	8 Ja, du wirst es sehen mit eigenen Augen, wirst zuschauen, wie den Frevlern vergolten wird.
9 But you, O Lord, are the Most High for all eternity.	9 Denn der Herr ist deine Zuflucht, du hast dir den Höchsten als Schutz erwählt.
10 For behold your enemies, O Lord, for behold your enemies will perish, and all those who work iniquity will be dispersed.	10 Dir begegnet kein Unheil, kein Unglück naht deinem Zelt.
11 And my horn will be exalted like that of the single-horned beast, and my old age will be exalted in fruitful mercy.	11 Denn er befiehlt seinen Engeln, dich zu behüten auf all deinen Wegen.
12 And my eye has looked down upon my enemies, and my ear will hear of the malignant rising up against me.	12 Sie tragen dich auf ihren Händen, damit dein Fuß nicht an einen Stein stößt;
13 The just one will flourish like the palm tree. He will be multiplied like the cedar of Lebanon.	13 du schreitest über Löwen und Nattern, trittst auf Löwen und Drachen.
14 Those planted in the house of the Lord will flourish in the courts of the house of our God.	14 «Weil er an mir hängt, will ich ihn retten; ich will ihn schützen, denn er kennt meinen Namen.
15 They will still be multiplied in a fruitful old age, and they will endure well,	15 Wenn er mich anruft, dann will ich ihn erhören. Ich bin bei ihm in der Not, befreie ihn und bringe ihn zu Ehren.
16 so that they may announce that the Lord our God is righteous and that there is no iniquity in him.	16 Ich sättige ihn mit langem Leben und lasse ihn schauen mein Heil.»
