Unto the end. In verses, the understanding of David,1 [For the choirmaster In sickness Poem Of David] The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no God!'They are corrupt, vile and unjust, not one of them does right.
when the Ziphites had arrived and they said to Saul, “Has not David been hidden with us?”2 God looks down from heaven at the children of Adam, to see if a single one is wise, a single oneseeks God.
Save me, O God, by your name, and judge me in your virtue.3 Al have proved faithless, al alike turned sour, not one of them does right, not a single one.
O God, listen to my prayer. Pay attention to the words of my mouth.4 Are they not aware, these evil-doers? They are devouring my people; this is the bread they eat, andthey never call upon God.
For strangers have risen up against me, and the strong have sought my soul. And they have not set God before their eyes.5 They wil be gripped with fear, just where there is no need for fear, for God scatters the bones of himwho besieges you; they are mocked because God rejects them.
For behold, God is my helper, and the Lord is the protector of my soul.6 Who wil bring from Zion salvation for Israel? When God brings his people home, what joy for Jacob, what happiness for Israel!
Turn back the evils upon my adversaries, and ruin them by your truth.
I will freely sacrifice to you, and I will confess your name, O God, because it is good.
For you have quickly rescued me from all tribulation, and my eye has looked down upon my enemies.
