For the First Sabbath. A Psalm of David. The earth and all its fullness belong to the Lord: the whole world and all that dwells in it.1 [Psalm Of David] Yahweh is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
For he has founded it upon the seas, and he has prepared it upon the rivers.2 In grassy meadows he lets me lie. By tranquil streams he leads me
Who will ascend to the mountain of the Lord? And who will stand in his holy place?3 to restore my spirit. He guides me in paths of saving justice as befits his name.
The innocent of hands and the clean of heart, who has not received his soul in vain, nor sworn deceitfully to his neighbor.4 Even were I to walk in a ravine as dark as death I should fear no danger, for you are at my side. Yourstaff and your crook are there to soothe me.
He will receive a blessing from the Lord, and mercy from God, his Saviour.5 You prepare a table for me under the eyes of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup brimsover.
This is the generation that seeks him, that seeks the face of the God of Jacob.6 Kindness and faithful love pursue me every day of my life. I make my home in the house of Yahwehfor all time to come.
Lift up your gates, you princes, and be lifted up, eternal gates. And the King of Glory shall enter.
Who is this King of Glory? The Lord who is strong and powerful; the Lord powerful in battle.
Lift up your gates, you princes, and be lifted up, eternal gates. And the King of Glory shall enter.
Who is this King of Glory? The Lord of virtue. He himself is the King of Glory.
