1 A Canticle in steps. Blessed are all those who fear the Lord, who walk in his ways.	1 [Ein Wallfahrtslied Salomos.] Wenn nicht der Herr das Haus baut, müht sich jeder umsonst, der daran baut.Wenn nicht der Herr die Stadt bewacht, wacht der Wächter umsonst.
2 For you will eat by the labors of your hands. Blessed are you, and it will be well with you.	2 Es ist umsonst, dass ihr früh aufsteht und euch spät erst niedersetzt, um das Brot der Mühsal zu essen; denn der Herr gibt es den Seinen im Schlaf.
3 Your wife is like an abundant vine on the sides of your house. Your sons are like young olive trees surrounding your table.	3 Kinder sind eine Gabe des Herrn, die Frucht des Leibes ist sein Geschenk.
4 Behold, so will the man be blessed who fears the Lord.	4 Wie Pfeile in der Hand des Kriegers, so sind Söhne aus den Jahren der Jugend.
5 May the Lord bless you from Zion, and may you see the good things of Jerusalem, all the days of your life.	5 Wohl dem Mann, der mit ihnen den Köcher gefüllt hat! Beim Rechtsstreit mit ihren Feinden scheitern sie nicht.
6 And may you see the sons of your sons. Peace be upon Israel.
