Psalms 121

CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINDOUAI-RHEIMS
A Canticle in steps. I rejoiced in the things that were said to me: “We shall go into the house of the Lord.”1 In my trouble I cried to the Lord: and he heard me.
Our feet were standing in your courts, O Jerusalem.2 O Lord, deliver my soul from wicked lips, and a deceitful tongue.
Jerusalem has been built as a city, whose participation is unto itself.3 What shall be given to thee, or what shall be added to thee, to a deceitful tongue.
For to that place, the tribes ascended, the tribes of the Lord: the testimony of Israel, to confess to the name of the Lord.4 The sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals that lay waste.
For in that place, seats have sat down in judgment, seats above the house of David.5 Woe is me, that my sojourning is prolonged! I have dwelt with the inhabitants of cedar:
Petition for the things that are for the peace of Jerusalem, and for abundance for those who love you.6 my soul hath been long a sojourner.
Let peace be in your virtue, and abundance in your towers.7 With them that hate peace I was peaceable: when I spoke to them they fought against me without cause.
For the sake of my brothers and my neighbors, I spoke peace about you.
For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I sought good things for you.
