1 Hiram, the king of Tyre, also sent his servants to Solomon. For he heard that they had anointed him king in place of his father. Now Hiram had been a friend to David the entire time.	1 Oltre a ciò Hiram re di Tiro man­dò suoi ambasciadori a Salomone, avendo udito com' egli era stato unto re in luogo del padre suo: conciossiachè Hiram era stato in ogni tempo amico di Davidde.
2 Then Solomon sent to Hiram, saying:	2 E Salomone mandò i suoi ad Hiram, e gli fece dire:
3 “You know the will of my father David, and that he was not able to build a house to the name of the Lord his God, because of the wars that were imminent all around him, until the Lord set them under the steps of his feet.	3 E a te noto il desiderio di Davidde mio padre, e come egli non potè edifi­care la casa al nome del Signore Dio suo a motivo delle guerre, che egli so­stenne da tutte le parti, fino a tanto che il Signore abbattè a' piedi di lui i ne­mici.
4 But now the Lord my God has given rest to me on all sides. And there is no adversary, nor occurrence of evil.	4 Adesso poi il Signore Dio mio mi ha data pace da ogni parte, e non havvi avversario, nè accidente sinistro.
5 For this reason, I intend to build a temple to the name of the Lord my God, just as the Lord spoke to my father David, saying: ‘Your son, whom I will set in your place, upon your throne, he himself shall build a house to my name.’	5 Per la qual cosa io ho in animo di fabbricare un tempio al nome del Signore Dio mio, conforme il Signore or­inò a Davidde mio padre, dicendo: Il tuo figliuolo, cui io surrogherò a te nel tuo trono, egli fabbricherà la casa al nome mio.
6 Therefore, order that your servants may cut down for me cedars from Lebanon. And let my servants be with your servants. Then I will give to you, for the wages of your servants, whatever you will ask. For you know that there is not a man among my people who knows how to cut wood as well as the Sidonians.”	6 Ordina adunque, che i tuoi servi taglino per me dei cedri del Libano, e i miei servi saranno insieme co' tuoi servi, e ti pagherò pel salario de' tuoi servi tutto quello, che domanderai: pe­rocché tu ben sai, che non v'ha alcuno del popol mio, che sappia tagliare il legname, come sanno quei di Sidone.
7 Therefore, when Hiram had heard the words of Solomon, he rejoiced greatly, and he said, “Blessed be the Lord God this day, who gave to David a very wise son over this numerous people!”	7 Avendo adunque sentito Hiram le parole di Salomone, ne ebbe gran pia­cere, e disse: Benedetto sia oggi il Si­gnore Dio, il quale ha dato a Davidde un figliuolo sapientissimo, per reggere un popolo così numeroso.
8 And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying: “I have heard the things that you would entrust to me. And I will do your whole will concerning the cedar trees and spruce trees.	8 E Hiram mandò a dire a Salomone: Ho inteso tutto quello, che tu mi do­mandi: io farò tutto quel, che tu vuoi riguardo ai legnami di cedro, e di abete.
9 My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon to the sea. And I will arrange them together as rafts on the sea, as far as the place that you will indicate to me. And I will land them there, and you will take them. And you shall offer to me what is necessary to give food to my house.”	9 I miei servi li porteranno dal Li­bano al mare: e io ne farò formare delle fodere sul mare, per trasmettergli al luogo, che tu mi additerai: e ivi fi farò posare: e tu li farai ritirare: e mi darai quello, che mi bisogna pel vitto della mia casa.
10 And so, Hiram gave to Solomon cedar trees and spruce trees, in accord with his whole will.	10 Hiram pertanto dava a Salomone del legname di cedro, e di abete quanto ei ne voleva.
11 Then Solomon offered to Hiram twenty thousand cor of wheat, as food for his house, and twenty cor of the purest oil. These things Solomon gave as a tribute to Hiram every year.	11 E Salomone dava ad Hiram venti mila cori di grano pel mantenimento della sua casa e venti cori d'olio finissimo: tutto questo dava Salomone ad Hiram anno per anno.
12 And the Lord gave wisdom to Solomon, just as he said to him. And there was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two struck a pact.	12 E il Signore diede a Salomone la saggezza, conforme gli avea promesso: ed era pace tra Hiram, e Salomone, e fecero tra di loro alleanza.
13 And king Solomon chose workers from all of Israel, and the conscription was of thirty thousand men.	13 E il re Salomone scelse degli ope­rai da tutto Israele, e furono comandati trenta mila uomini.
14 And he sent them into Lebanon, ten thousand each month, in turns, so that for two months they were in their own houses. And Adoniram was over this type of conscription.	14 E mandavagli al Libano a vicen­da, dieci mila ogni mese: talmente che per due mesi se ne stavano alle case loro: e Adoniram era preposto a questa comandata.
15 And Solomon had seventy thousand of those who were carrying burdens, and eighty thousand of those who cut stones from the mountain,	15 E avea Salomone settanta mila uomini, che portavano i pesi, e ottanta mila scarpellini sulla montagna:
16 aside from the commanders who were over each work, in number three thousand and three hundred, who gave orders to the people and to those who were doing the work.	16 Senza contare quelli, che presede­vano a' varj lavori, in numero di tre mila trecento, i quali dirigevano la gente, e i lavoratori.
17 And the king ordered them to bring great stones, precious stones, for the foundation of the temple, and to square them.	17 E il re comandò, che si prendes­sero pietre grandi, pietre di pregio pe' fondamenti del tempio, e le riquadras­sero:
18 And these were shaped by the stoneworkers of Solomon and the stoneworkers of Hiram. And the men of Gebal also prepared the wood and the stones in order to build the house.	18 E le tagliarono gli scarpellini di Salomone, e quelli di Hiram: e quelli di Giblos lavorarono il legname, e le pietre per la fabbrica della casa.
