1 And David said, “Do you think that there could be anyone left from the house of Saul, so that I might show mercy to him because of Jonathan?”	1 David sagte: Gibt es noch jemand, der vom Haus Saul übrig geblieben ist? Ich will ihm um Jonatans willen eine Huld erweisen.
2 Now there was, from the house of Saul, a servant named Ziba. And when the king had called him to himself, he said to him, “Are you not Ziba?” And he responded, “I am your servant.”	2 Zum Haus Sauls gehörte ein Knecht namens Ziba; man rief ihn zu David und der König fragte ihn: Bist du Ziba? Er antwortete: Ja, dein Knecht.
3 And the king said, “Could there be anyone alive from the house of Saul, so that I may show the mercy of God to him?” And Ziba said to the king, “There is left alive a son of Jonathan, with disabled feet.”	3 Der König fragte ihn: Ist vom Haus Sauls niemand mehr am Leben, dass ich ihm göttliche Huld erweisen könnte? Ziba antwortete dem König: Es gibt einen Sohn Jonatans, der an beiden Füßen gelähmt ist.
4 “Where is he?” he said. And Ziba said to the king, “Behold, he is in the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, in Lodebar.”	4 Der König sagte zu ihm: Wo ist er? Ziba antwortete dem König: Er lebt jetzt im Haus Machirs, des Sohnes Ammiëls, in Lo-Dabar.
5 Therefore, king David sent and brought him from the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, from Lodebar.	5 Da schickte der König David hin und ließ ihn aus dem Haus Machirs, des Sohnes Ammiëls, in Lo-Dabar holen.
6 And when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, had come to David, he fell upon his face, and he reverenced. And David said, “Mephibosheth?” And he responded, “Your servant is here.”	6 Als Merib-Baal, der Sohn Jonatans, des Sohnes Sauls, zu David kam, warf er sich (vor ihm) auf sein Gesicht nieder und huldigte ihm. David sagte: Merib-Baal! Er antwortete: Hier ist dein Knecht.
7 And David said to him: “Do not be afraid. For I will certainly show mercy to you because of your father Jonathan. And I will restore to you all the fields of your father Saul. And you shall eat bread at my table always.”	7 David sagte zu ihm: Fürchte dich nicht; denn ich will dir um deines Vaters Jonatan willen eine Huld erweisen: Ich gebe dir alle Felder deines Großvaters Saul zurück und du sollst immer an meinem Tisch essen.
8 And reverencing him, he said, “Who am I, your servant, that you should look with favor upon a dead dog like me?”	8 Da warf sich Merib-Baal (vor ihm) nieder und sagte: Was ist dein Knecht, dass du dich einem toten Hund zuwendest, wie ich es bin?
9 And so, the king called Ziba, the servant of Saul, and he said to him: “Everything whatsoever that belonged to Saul, and his entire house, I have given to the son of your lord.	9 Der König David rief Ziba, den Diener Sauls, und sagte zu ihm: Alles, was Saul und seiner ganzen Familie gehört hat, gebe ich dem Sohn deines Herrn.
10 And so, work the land for him, you and your sons and your servants. And you shall bring in food for the son of your lord, for nourishment. And Mephibosheth, the son of your lord, shall always eat bread at my table.” Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.	10 Du sollst mit deinen Söhnen und Knechten für ihn das Land bebauen und ihm den Ertrag bringen, damit der Sohn deines Herrn zu essen hat. Merib-Baal selbst aber, der Sohn deines Herrn, soll immer an meinem Tisch essen. Ziba hatte fünfzehn Söhne und zwanzig Knechte.
11 And Ziba said to the king: “Just as my lord has ordered your servant, so will your servant do. And Mephibosheth shall eat at my table, like one of the sons of the king.”	11 Ziba sagte zum König: Genauso, wie es mein Herr, der König, seinem Knecht befohlen hat, wird es dein Knecht tun. Und Merib-Baal aß am Tisch Davids wie einer von den Söhnen des Königs.
12 Now Mephibosheth had a young son whose name was Mica. Truly, all the kindred of the house of Ziba served Mephibosheth.	12 Merib-Baal hatte einen kleinen Sohn namens Micha und alle, die im Haus Zibas wohnten, waren Merib-Baals Knechte.
13 But Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem. For he was fed always from the table of the king. And he was lame in both feet.	13 Merib-Baal blieb also in Jerusalem; denn er aß immer am Tisch des Königs; er war aber an beiden Füßen gelähmt.
