1 I urge the elders among you, as a fellow-elder myself and a witness to the sufferings of Christ, and asone who is to have a share in the glory that is to be revealed:	1 Aos anciães, que estão entre vós, rogo eu, ancião como eles e testemunha dos sofrimentos de Cristo, e que tomarei parte com eles naquela glória que será manifestada um dia
2 give a shepherd's care to the flock of God that is entrusted to you: watch over it, not simply as a dutybut gladly, as God wants; not for sordid money, but because you are eager to do it.	2 Apascentai o rebanho de Deus, que vos está confiado, tende cuidado dele, não constrangidos, mas de boa vontade, segundo Deus; não por amor de lucro vil, mas por dedicação;
3 Do not lord it over the group which is in your charge, but be an example for the flock.	3 não como para dominar aqueles que vos couberam em sorte, mas fazendo-vos exemplares do rebanho.
4 When the chief shepherd appears, you wil be given the unfading crown of glory.	4 Quando aparecer o príncipe dos pastores, recebereis a coroa imarcescível de glória.
5 In the same way, younger people, be subject to the elders. Humility towards one another must be thegarment you all wear constantly, because God opposes the proud but accords his favour to the humble.	5 Igualmente vós, ó jovens, obedecei aos anciães. Revesti-vos todos de humildade, nas vossas relações mútuas, porque Deus resiste aos soberbos e dá a sua graça aos humildes (Pv. 3, 34).
6 Bow down, then, before the power of God now, so that he may raise you up in due time;	6 Humilhai-vos, pois, sob a mão poderosa de Deus, para que ele vos exalte no tempo determinado.
7 unload al your burden on to him, since he is concerned about you.	7 Descarregai sobre ele todas as vossas preocupações, porque ele tem cuidado de vós.
8 Keep sober and alert, because your enemy the devil is on the prowl like a roaring lion, looking forsomeone to devour.	8 Sede sóbrios e vigiai, porque o demônio, vosso adversário, anda ao redor, como um leão que ruge, buscando a quem devorar.
9 Stand up to him, strong in faith and in the knowledge that it is the same kind of suffering that thecommunity of your brothers throughout the world is undergoing.	9 Resisti-lhe, fortes na fé, sabendo que os vossos irmãos, espalhados pelo mundo, sofrem as mesmas coisas.
10 You wil have to suffer only for a little while: the God of all grace who called you to eternal glory inChrist wil restore you, he wil confirm, strengthen and support you.	10 Mas o Deus de toda a graça, que vos chamou em Jesus Cristo à sua eterna glória, depois que tiverdes sofrido um pouco, vos aperfeiçoará, fortificará, consolidará, vos tornará inabaláveis.
11 His power lasts for ever and ever. Amen.	11 A ele, o império pelos séculos dos séculos. Amen.
12 I write these few words to you through Silvanus, who is a trustworthy brother, to encourage you andattest that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it!	12 Por meio de Silvano, que tenho por irmão fiel, vos escrevo estas poucas palavras, exortando-vos e garantindo-vos que a verdadeira graça de Deus é esta, na qual estais firmes.
13 Your sister in Babylon, who is with you among the chosen, sends you greetings; so does my son,Mark.	13 A Igreja de Babilônia, escolhida (por Deus) como vós, saúda-vos, assim como Marcos, meu filho.
14 Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to you al who are in Christ.	14 Saudai-vos uns aos outros com ósculo de caridade. Paz a vós todos que estais (unidos) em Cristo.
