1 The first covenant also had its laws governing worship and its sanctuary, a sanctuary on this earth.	1 La première alliance a eu aussi des règlements relatifs au culte, et un sanctuaire terrestre.
2 There was a tent which comprised two compartments: the first, in which the lamp-stand, the table andthe loaves of permanent offering were kept, was cal ed the Holy Place;	2 Car un tabernacle avait été dressé, dans la première partie duquel étaient le chandelier, la table et les pains de proposition (l'exposition des pains), et cette partie s'appelait le Saint.
3 then beyond the second veil, a second compartment which was called the Holy of Holies	3 Puis, derrière le second voile était la partie du tabernacle appelée le Saint des saints,
4 to which belonged the gold altar of incense, and the ark of the covenant, plated al over with gold. Inthis were kept the gold jar containing the manna, Aaron's branch that grew the buds, and the tables of thecovenant.	4 renfermant un encensoir d'or, et l'arche d'alliance toute couverte d'or, dans laquelle était une urne d'or contenant la manne, la verge d'Aaron, qui avait fleuri, et les tables de l'alliance.
5 On top of it were the glorious winged creatures, overshadowing the throne of mercy. This is not the timeto go into detail about this.	5 Au-dessus de l'arche étaient les chérubins de la gloire, qui couvraient de leur ombre le propitiatoire. Mais ce n'est pas le moment de parler de cela en détail.
6 Under these provisions, priests go regularly into the outer tent to carry out their acts of worship,	6 Or, ces choses étant ainsi disposées, les prêtres entraient en tout temps dans la première partie du tabernacle, lorsqu'ils exerçaient des fonctions sacerdotales ;
7 but the second tent is entered only once a year, and then only by the high priest who takes in the bloodto make an offering for his own and the people's faults of inadvertence.	7 mais, dans la seconde, n'entre (entrait) qu'une fois par an le seul grand prêtre, non sans y porter du sang, qu'il offre (offrait) pour son ignorance et pour celle du peuple.
8 By this, the Holy Spirit means us to see that as long as the old tent stands, the way into the holy placeis not opened up;	8 L'Esprit-Saint montre par là que le chemin du sanctuaire n'était pas encore ouvert, tant que le premier tabernacle subsistait (toujours).
9 it is a symbol for this present time. None of the gifts and sacrifices offered under these regulations canpossibly bring any worshipper to perfection in his conscience;	9 C'est une figure pour le temps présent, où l'on offre des dons et des victimes, qui ne peuvent rendre parfait selon la conscience celui qui rend ce culte ; puisqu'ils ne consistaient qu'en mets (viandes), et en breuvages,
10 they are rules about outward life, connected with food and drink and washing at various times, whichare in force only until the time comes to set things right.	10 et en diverses ablutions, et en des cérémonies charnelles, imposées seulement jusqu'à une époque de réforme.
11 But now Christ has come, as the high priest of al the blessings which were to come. He has passedthrough the greater, the more perfect tent, not made by human hands, that is, not of this created order;	11 Mais le Christ étant venu comme pontife des biens futurs, a traversé (c'est par) un tabernacle plus grand et plus parfait, qui n'a pas été fait de main d'homme, c'est-à-dire, qui n'appartient point à cette création,
12 and he has entered the sanctuary once and for all, taking with him not the blood of goats and bulcalves, but his own blood, having won an eternal redemption.	12 et il est entré une fois pour toutes dans le sanctuaire, non avec le sang des boucs ou des veaux, mais avec son propre sang, ayant obtenu une rédemption éternelle.
13 The blood of goats and bul s and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkled on those who have incurreddefilement, may restore their bodily purity.	13 Car si le sang des boucs et des taureaux, et l'aspersion faite avec la cendre d'une génisse, sanctifient ceux qui sont souillés, de manière à procurer la pureté de la chair,
14 How much more wil the blood of Christ, who offered himself, blameless as he was, to God throughthe eternal Spirit, purify our conscience from dead actions so that we can worship the living God.	14 combien plus le sang du Christ, qui par l'Esprit-Saint s'est offert lui-même (comme une victime) sans tache à Dieu, purifiera-t-il notre conscience des œuvres mortes, pour que nous servions le Dieu vivant ?
15 This makes him the mediator of a new covenant, so that, now that a death has occurred to redeem thesins committed under an earlier covenant, those who have been cal ed to an eternal inheritance may receive thepromise.	15 C'est pourquoi il est le médiateur d'un nouveau testament, afin que, la mort étant intervenue pour le rachat des iniquités commises sous le premier testament, ceux qui sont appelés reçoivent la promesse de l'héritage éternel.
16 Now wherever a wil is in question, the death of the testator must be established;	16 Car, là où il y a un testament, il est nécessaire que la mort du testateur intervienne.
17 a testament comes into effect only after a death, since it has no force while the testator is stil alive.	17 En effet, un testament n'est valable que par la mort, puisqu'il n'a point de force tant que le testateur est vivant.
18 That is why even the earlier covenant was inaugurated with blood,	18 C'est pourquoi le premier testament n'a pas été inauguré sans effusion de sang.
19 and why, after Moses had promulgated al the commandments of the Law to the people, he took thecalves' blood, the goats' blood and some water, and with these he sprinkled the book itself and all the people,using scarlet wool and hyssop;	19 En effet Moïse, après avoir proclamé devant tout le peuple tous les commandements de la loi, prit le sang des veaux et des boucs, avec de l'eau, de la laine écarlate et de l'hysope, et il en aspergea le livre même et tout le peuple,
20 saying as he did so: This is the blood of the covenant that God has made with you.	20 en disant : Ceci est le sang de l'alliance (testament) que Dieu a ordonnée pour vous (vous a confié).
21 And he sprinkled both the tent and all the liturgical vessels with blood in the same way.	21 Il aspergea aussi de sang le tabernacle et tous les ustensiles du culte :
22 In fact, according to the Law, practical y every purification takes place by means of blood; and if thereis no shedding of blood, there is no remission.	22 et, selon la loi, presque tout est purifié avec du sang, et sans effusion de sang il n'y a pas de pardon.
23 Only the copies of heavenly things are purified in this way; the heavenly things themselves have to bepurified by a higher sort of sacrifice than this.	23 Il était donc nécessaire, puisque les emblèmes des choses célestes sont purifiés de cette manière, que les choses célestes elles-mêmes le fussent par des victimes meilleures que celles-là.
24 It is not as though Christ had entered a man-made sanctuary which was merely a model of the realone; he entered heaven itself, so that he now appears in the presence of God on our behalf.	24 Car ce n'est pas dans un sanctuaire fait de main d'homme, image du véritable, que Jésus est entré, mais dans le ciel même, afin de se présenter maintenant pour nous devant la face de Dieu.
25 And he does not have to offer himself again and again, as the high priest goes into the sanctuary yearafter year with the blood that is not his own,	25 Et ce n'est pas pour s'offrir soi-même plusieurs fois qu'il y est entré, comme le grand prêtre entre chaque année dans le sanctuaire avec du sang étranger ;
26 or else he would have had to suffer over and over again since the world began. As it is, he has madehis appearance once and for al , at the end of the last age, to do away with sin by sacrificing himself.	26 autrement il aurait fallu qu'il souffrît plusieurs fois depuis la création du monde, tandis qu'il n'a paru qu'une seule fois à la fin des siècles, pour abolir le péché par son sacrifice.
27 Since human beings die only once, after which comes judgement,	27 Et de même qu'il est établi que les hommes meurent une fois, et qu'ensuite vient le jugement,
28 so Christ too, having offered himself only once to bear the sin of many, will manifest himself a secondtime, sin being no more, to those who are waiting for him, to bring them salvation.	28 de même le Christ s'est offert une fois pour effacer les péchés de beaucoup ; une seconde fois il apparaîtra sans péché, pour donner le salut à ceux qui l'attendent.
