Amos 5

NEW JERUSALEM	Biblia Matos Soares
1 Listen to this word which I utter against you, it is a dirge, House of Israel:	1 Ouvi esta palavra, que é a lamentação que faço sobre vós, ó casa de Israel! Ela caiu e não tornará mais a levantar-se,
2 She has fal en down, never to rise again, the virgin Israel. There she lies on her own soil, with no oneto lift her up.	2 a virgem de Israel! Está deitada sobre a sua ferra, e ninguém a levanta.
3 For Lord Yahweh says this: The town which used to put a thousand in the field wil be left with ahundred, and the one which used to put a hundred will be left with ten, to fight for the House of Israel.	3 Porque isto diz o Senhor Deus: A cidade que punha em pé de guerra mil homens, ficará reduzida a cem; e aquela que punha cem, ficará reduzida a dez; (isto sucederá) na casa de Israel.
4 For Yahweh says this to the House of Israel: Seek me out and you wil survive,	4 Porquanto isto diz o Senhor à casa de Israel: Buscai-me e vivereis.
5 but do not seek out Bethel, do not go to Gilgal, do not journey to Beersheba, for Gilgal is going intocaptivity and Bethel will be brought to nothing.	5 Não busqueis a Betei, nem entreis em Gálgala, nem passeis por Bersabé, porque Gálgala será levada cativa, e Betel ficará reduzida a nada.
6 Seek out Yahweh and you wil survive or else he wil sweep like fire upon the House of Joseph andburn it down, with no one at Bethel able to quench the flames.	6 Buscai o Senhor e vivereis, não suceda que venha sobre a casa de José, como um fogo, e a abrase, sem haver em Betei quem o apague.
7 They turn justice into wormwood and throw uprightness to the ground.	7 Convertem o direito em absinto, e abandonam a justiça na terra!
8 He it is who makes the Pleiades and Orion, who turns shadow dark as death into morning and day todarkest night, who summons the waters of the sea and pours them over the surface of the land. Yahweh is hisname.	8 Aquele que criou as Plêiades e o Orião, que transforma as trevas em luz da aurora e muda o dia em noite, que chama as águas do mar e as derrama sobre a face da terra, o seu nome é: O Senhor.
9 He brings destruction on the strong and ruin comes on the fortress.	9 Ele derriba os fortes e atira a ruína sobre a fortaleza.
10 They hate the man who teaches justice at the city gate and detest anyone who declares the truth.	10 Eles aborrecem o que repreende à porta (da cidade, nos julgamentos), abominam o que fala com integridade.
11 For trampling on the poor man and for extorting levies on his wheat: although you have built housesof dressed stone, you wil not live in them; although you have planted pleasant vineyards, you wil not drink winefrom them:	11 Portanto, já que esmagais o pobre e lhe impondes tributos de trigo, não habitareis nas casas de pedra de silharia, que edificastes; das excelentes vinhas que plantastes, não bebereis o vinho.
12 for I know how many your crimes are and how outrageous your sins, you oppressors of the upright,who hold people to ransom and thrust the poor aside at the gates.	12 Porque eu conheço as vossas muitas maldades e os vossos graves pecados; sois inimigos do justo, aceitais dádivas e oprimis os pobres à porta (da cidade, nos julgamentos).
13 That is why anyone prudent keeps silent now, since the time is evil.	13 Por isso o prudente se cala neste tempo, porque é tempo mau.
14 Seek good and not evil so that you may survive, and Yahweh, God Sabaoth, be with you as you claimhe is.	14 Buscai o bem, e não o mal, para que vivais e o Senhor Deus dos exércitos estará convosco, como vós dizeis (que está).
15 Hate evil, love good, let justice reign at the city gate: it may be that Yahweh, God Sabaoth, wil takepity on the remnant of Joseph.	15 Aborrecei o mal, amai o bem, fazei reinar a justiça na porta (da cidade, nos julgamentos); então, talvez o Senhor Deus dos exércitos se compadecerá dos restos de José.
16 Therefore Yahweh Sabaoth, the Lord, says this: In every public square there wil be lamentation, inevery street they will cry out, 'Alas! Alas!' The farmer wil be called on to mourn, the professional mourners tolament,	16 Por cuja causa isto diz Iavé, o Senhor Deus dos exércitos: Por todas as praças soarão gritos: em todas as ruas se ouvirá dizer: Ai, ai! Serão convidados para este luto os lavradores, e para este pranto os que sabem carpir.
17 and there wil be wailing in every vineyard, for I mean to pass through among you, Yahweh says.	17 Em todas as vinhas haverá pranto, porque eu hei-de passar pelo meio de ti, diz o Senhor.
18 Disaster for you who long for the Day of Yahweh! What will the Day of Yahweh mean for you? It wilmean darkness, not light,	18 Ai dos que desejam o dia do Senhor! Que será o dia do de vós? O dia do Senhor é um dia de trevas e não de luz.
19 as when someone runs away from a lion, only to meet a bear; he goes into his house and puts hishand on the wal , only for a snake to bite him.	19 Como se um homem fugisse dum leão e lhe saísse ao encontro um urso, ou como se, tendo entrado em casa e segurando-se com a sua mão à parede, o mordesse uma cobra (assim sereis vós perante o inevitável castigo de Deus).
20 Will not the Day of Yahweh be darkness, not light, total y dark, without a ray of light?	20 Que será, pois, o dia do Senhor senão trevas, e não claridade, escuridão, e não luz?
21 I hate, I scorn your festivals, I take no pleasure in your solemn assemblies.	21 Eu aborreço e rejeito as vossas festas; não sinto gosto nos vossos ajuntamentos.
22 When you bring me burnt offerings . . . your oblations, I do not accept them and I do not look at yourcommunion sacrifices of fat cattle.	22 Se me ofereceis os vossos holocaustos e os vossos presentes, não os aceito; não ponho os olhos nas vítimas gordas, que me ofereceis nos vossos sacrifícios pacíficos.
23 Spare me the din of your chanting, let me hear none of your strumming on lyres,	23 Aparta de mim o ruído dos teus cânticos; não quero ouvir a música das tuas harpas.
24 but let justice flow like water, and uprightness like a never-failing stream!	24 Antes (o que quero é que) corra o direito como água (abundante) e a justiça como torrente que não seca.
25 Did you bring me sacrifices and oblations those forty years in the desert, House of Israel?	25 Porventura, ó casa de Israel, oferecestes-me vós sacrifícios e oblações no deserto, onde estivestes quarenta anos?
26 Now you must shoulder Sakkuth your king and the star of your God, Kaiwan, those idols you made foryourselves;	26 Vós sim, levastes o tabernáculo de Sakut, vosso rei, e Kevan, vosso ídolo, a estrela do vosso deus (Saturno), coisas que fizestes por vossas mãos.
27 for I am about to drive you into captivity beyond Damascus, Yahweh says -- God Sabaoth is hisname.	27 Eu vos deportarei para além de Damasco (para a Assíria), diz o Senhor, cujo nome é Deus dos exércitos.
