Baruch 5

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 Jerusalem, take off your dress of sorrow and distress, put on the beauty of God's glory for evermore,	1 Metti da parte, o Gerusalemme, le vesti del lutto e della tua afflizione, e rivestiti dello splendore e della maestà dell'eterna gloria che ti viene da Dio.
2 wrap the cloak of God's saving justice around you, put the diadem of the Eternal One's glory on yourhead,	2 Il Signore ti coprirà col manto della giustizia, e ti porrà sul capo la mitra dell'onore eterno;
3 for God means to show your splendour to every nation under heaven,	3 Dio mostrerà il tuo splendore a tutto ciò che è sotto il cielo.
4 and the name God gives you for evermore wil be, 'Peace-through-Justice, and Glory-through-Devotion'.	4 Il tuo nome ti sarà dato da Dio in eterno: « Pace della giustizia », « Onore della pietà ».
5 Arise, Jerusalem, stand on the heights and turn your eyes to the east: see your children reassembledfrom west and east at the Holy One's command, rejoicing because God has remembered.	5 Alzati, o Gerusalemme, sta in alto e volgi lo sguardo verso l'oriente, e mira i tuoi figli radunati dal sol levante all'occidente alla parola del Santo, lieti del ricordo del loro Dio.
6 Though they left you on foot driven by enemies, now God brings them back to you, carried gloriously,like a royal throne.	6 Partiron da te a piedi, trascinati dai nemici, ma il Signore te li ricondurrà portati con onore, come figli del regno.
7 For God has decreed the flattening of each high mountain, of the everlasting hills, the fil ing of theval eys to make the ground level so that Israel can walk safely in God's glory.	7 Infatti il Signore ha ordinato d'abbassare tutte le montagne elevate e le rupi eterne, e di colmare le valli per appianare la terra, affinchè Israele cammini rapidamente per la gloria di Dio;
8 And the forests and every fragrant tree wil provide shade for Israel, at God's command;	8 e le foreste e tutte le piante di grato odore per ordine di Dio faranno ombra a Israele.
9 for God wil guide Israel in joy by the light of his glory, with the mercy and saving justice which comefrom him. A copy of the letter which Jeremiah sent to those about to be led captive to Babylon by the king of theBabylonians, to tel them what he had been commanded by God:	9 Così Dio condurrà Israele con gioia alla luce della sua maestà; colla misericordia e colla giustizia che vien da lui stesso.
