Sirach 44

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 Next let us praise il ustrious men, our ancestors in their successive generations.	1 Lodiamo li uomini famosi, e li nostri padri nella generazione sua.
2 The Lord has created an abundance of glory, and displayed his greatness from earliest times.	2 Molta gloria fece il Signore nella magnifificenza sua nel secolo.
3 Some wielded authority as kings and were renowned for their strength; others were intel igent advisersand uttered prophetic sayings.	3 Fece uomini signoreggianti nelle loro signorie, uomini grandi di virtude e di sua prudenza; fece uomini profeti annunzianti la degnitade dei profeti,
4 Others directed the people by their advice, by their understanding of the popular mind, and by the wisewords of their teaching;	4 e signoreggianti nel presente popolo; (e per virtude fece uomini di prudenza,) ed espuosono al popolo santissime parole.
5 others composed musical melodies and set down bal ads;	5 Nella sua perizia trovarono li versi musici, e narrarono per li versi le scritture.
6 others were rich and powerful, living peaceful y in their homes.	6 E fece uomini ricchi ch' ebbono studio nella virtude della bellezza, e fece uomini pacificanti nelle loro case.
7 Al these were honoured by their contemporaries and were the glory of their day.	7 Tutti questi nella generazione della gente sua acquistarono gloria (e fama), e nelli suoi dì sono avuti in laude.
8 Some of them left a name behind them, so that their praises are stil sung.	8 E coloro che discesono da loro (nati) lasciarono lo nome narrando le loro laude.
9 While others have left no memory, and disappeared as though they had not existed. They are now asthough they had never been, and so too, their children after them.	9 E sono di quelli che non n'è memoria; che perirono, sì come loro non fussono nati; e nati sono e quasi non nati, e i figliuoli loro con essi.
10 But here is a list of il ustrious men whose good works have not been forgotten.	10 Ma quelli sono uomini di misericordia, le cui pietadi non mancarono.
11 In their descendants they find a rich inheritance, their posterity.	11 E con il seme loro dura la buona ereditade.
12 Their descendants stand by the commandments and, thanks to them, so do their children's children.	12 E la semente dura nelli testamenti de' loro nipoti.
13 Their offspring wil last for ever, their glory will not fade.	13 Eli loro figliuoli per loro permangono infino in sempiterno; il seme loro e la gloria loro non fia abbandonata.
14 Their bodies have been buried in peace, and their name lives on for al generations.	14 Li corpi loro sono seppelliti in pace, e la fama loro vive di generazione in generazione.
15 The peoples will proclaim their wisdom, the assembly wil celebrate their praises.	15 Li popoli narrarono la loro sapienza; e la chiesa annunzia la loro laude.
16 Enoch pleased the Lord and was transferred to heaven, an example for the conversion of algenerations.	16 Enoc piacque a Dio, e fue trasportato in paradiso, acciò ch' egli dia (nella fine del mondo)` alle genti penitenza.
17 Noah was found perfectly upright, in the time of retribution he became the heir: because of him aremnant was preserved for the earth at the coming of the Flood.	17 Noè fue trovato perfetto e giusto, e nel tempo (del diluvio e) della iracundia fatta è la riconciliazione.
18 Everlasting covenants were made with him that never again should every living creature perish byflood.	18 E però fue lasciato il rimanente della terra, quando fu fatto il diluvio.
19 Abraham, the great ancestor of a host of nations, no one was ever his equal in glory.	19 Li testamenti del mondo furono posti appresso colui, acciò che per lo diluvio non potessono disfare ogni carne.
20 He observed the Law of the Most High, and entered into a covenant with him. He confirmed thecovenant in his own flesh, and proved himself faithful under ordeal.	20 Il grande padre di molte genti fu Abraam, e non fu trovato simile a lui in fama; il quale conservò la legge dell' altissimo Dio, e fu in testamento con lui.
21 The Lord therefore promised him on oath to bless the nations through his descendants, to multiply himlike the dust on the ground, to exalt his descendants like the stars, and to give them the land as their heritage,from one sea to the other, from the River to the ends of the earth.	21 Nella carne sua fece stare il testamento, e nella tentazione' fu trovato fedele.
22 To Isaac too, for the sake of Abraham his father, he assured	22 Però giurando gli diede gloria nella gente sua, e che crescesse sì come uno monticello di terra;
23 the blessing of al humanity; he caused the covenant to rest on the head of Jacob. He confirmed himin his blessings and gave him the land as his inheritance; he divided it into portions, and shared it out among thetwelve tribes.	23 e che il seme suo esaltasse sì come le stelle, e che loro ereditassono dall' uno mare all' altro, e dal fiume insino alli termini della terra.
	24 E in quello medesimo modo fece Iddio ad Isaac, e ad Abraam suo padre.
	25 Iddio gli diede la benedizione di tutte le genti; e il testamento suo confermoe sopra il capo di Iacob.
	26 E Iddio l'accettoe (Iacob) nelle benedizioni sue, e diedegli la ereditade, e miseli la parte in XII tribù.
	27 E serbogli uomini di misericordia, che trovaron grazia nel conspetto d'ogni carne.
