Job 35

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 Elihu continued his speech. He said:	1 Adunque Eliu anche queste cose disse:
2 Do you think you can prove yourself upright and establish your uprightness before God	2 Or parti qui eguale lo tuo pensiero, che tu dicesti io sono più giusto che Iddio?
3 by daring to say to him, 'What does it matter to you, or how does it benefit me, whether I have sinnedor not?'	3 Anche dicesti: non piace a te quello che è diritto ovvero, che ti farà prò se io peccai?
4 Very well, I shal tel you and your friends as wel .	4 Adunque io risponderoe a' tuoi sermoni, e agli amici tuoi teco,
5 Take a look at the skies and see, observe how high the clouds are above you.	5 Guarda lo cielo, e ragguarda, e contempla l'aria, che sia più alta di te.
6 If you sin, how can you affect him? If you heap up crimes, what effect has it on him?	6 Se peccherai, che nuocerai a lui? e se moltiplicate saranno le tue iniquitadi, che farai contro a lui?
7 If you are upright, what do you give him, what benefit does he receive at your hands?	7 E se pur giustamente farai, che donerai a lui, ovvero che torrà dalla mano tua?
8 Your wickedness affects only your fel ows, your uprightness, other human beings.	8 All' uomo, che è simile a te, nuocerà la tua iniquità; e lo figliuolo dell' uomo aiuterae la tua giustizia.
9 They too groan under the weight of oppression, they cry for help under the tyranny of the mighty,	9 Per la moltitudine delli calunniatori piangeranno; e urleranno per la forza del braccio de' tiranni.
10 but none of them thinks of saying, 'Where is God, my Maker, who makes glad songs ring out at night,	10 E non disse: dove è Iddio, il quale fece me, il quale diede li versi nella notte?
11 who has made us more intel igent than wild animals wiser than birds in the sky?'	11 il quale ammaestra noi sopra le bestie della terra, e sopra li uccelli del cielo ammaestra noi?
12 Cry they may, but get no answer, to be spared from the arrogance of the wicked.	12 Lui chiameranno, e non esaudirà per la (sua) superbia de' rei.
13 Of course God does not listen to trivialities, Shaddai pays no attention to them.	13 Adunque non udirae Iddio indarno, e lo Onnipotente ragguarderà la cagione di ciascuno.
14 And how much less when you say, 'I cannot see him, my case is open and I am waiting for him.'	14 Ancora quando tu dirai: non considera; giudicare dinanzi a lui, e aspetta lui.
15 Or, 'His anger never punishes, he does not seem aware of human rebel ion.'	15 E ora non dae lo suo furore, nè della fellonia si vendica fortemente.
16 Hence, when Job speaks, he talks nonsense, ignorantly babbling on and on.	16 Adunque Iob indarno aperse la sua bocca, e sanza scienza le parole moltiplica.
