1 Josiah then celebrated a Passover to Yahweh in Jerusalem. The Passover victims were slaughteredon the fourteenth day of the first month.	1 Poi Giosia fece in Gerusalemme la Pasqua del Signore, la qua­le fu immolata il quattordicesimo giorno del primo mese.
2 He assigned the priests to their posts, encouraging them to do their duty in the Temple of Yahweh.	2 Costituiti i sacerdoti nelle loro funzioni, li esortò a servire nella casa del Signore,
3 Then he said to the Levites, who had understanding for al Israel and were consecrated to Yahweh,'Put the sacred ark in the Temple built by Solomon son of David, king of Israel. You need not carry it about on your shoulders any more. Now serve Yahweh your God and Israel his people!	3 indi disse ai leviti, per le istruzioni dei quali era santificato al Signore tutto Israele: « Ponete l'arca nel santuario del tempio che edificò Salomone, fi­glio di David re d'Israele, perchè non dovete portarla più, ma servire al Signore Dio vostro e al suo popolo Israele.
4 Prepare yourselves by families according to your orders, as laid down in the decree of David king ofIsrael and that of Solomon his son,	4 Tenetevi pronti per case e per famiglie, secondo la classe di ciascuno e gli ordini di David re d'Israele, descritti da Salomone suo figlio.
5 and take up positions in the sanctuary corresponding to the family divisions of your brothers the laity,so that there are Levites for each family division.	5 Servite nel santuario secondo le famiglie e le classi levitiche,
6 Slaughter the Passover, sanctify yourselves and prepare it so that your brothers can observe it in theway the word of Yahweh through Moses requires.'	6 e, santificati che siate, immolate la Pasqua, e preparate anche i vostri fratelli, in modo che possano fare secondo le parole del Si­gnore dette per mezzo di Mosè ».
7 For the laity Josiah provided small livestock, that is, lambs and young goats -- everything for thePassover offerings for al who attended -- to the number of thirty thousand, as well as three thousand bul ocks;these were from the king's own possessions.	7 Inoltre Giosia diede a tutto il popolo che si trovò alla solennità della Pasqua, agnelli e capretti del suo gregge e trenta mila capi dell'altro suo bestiame, e tre mila buoi: tutto ciò dai beni particolari del re.
8 His officials also made voluntary contributions for the people, the priests and the Levites; and Hilkiah,Zechariah and Jehiel, the chiefs of the Temple of God, gave two thousand six hundred lambs and three hundredbullocks to the priests for the Passover offerings;	8 Così pure i suoi ufficiali offrirono al popolo, ai sacerdoti e ai leviti ciò che avevano spontaneamente promesso. Elcia, Zaccaria, Iahiel, principi della casa del Signore, diedero ai sacerdoti per far la Pasqua due mila seicento capi di minuto bestiame e trecento buoi.
9 while Conaniah, Shemaiah, Nethanel his brother, Hashabiah, Jeiel and Jozabad, the head Levites,provided five thousand lambs and five hundred bul ocks as Passover offerings for the Levites.	9 Conenia con Semeia e Natanaele, suoi fratelli, e Asabia, Iehiel e Iozabad, principi dei leviti, diedero agli altri leviti per celebrare la Pasqua cinque mila capi di minuto bestiame e cinquecento buoi.
10 So the service was arranged, the priests stood in their places and the Levites in their orders as theking had commanded.	10 Fu dunque preparato il servizio, e i sacerdoti si trovarono al loro ufficio, e cosi pure i leviti, secondo le loro classi e Pordine del re.
11 Then they slaughtered the Passover victims and while the priests sprinkled the blood as theyreceived it from the Levites, the latter did the skinning.	11 Poi fu immolata la. Pasqua: i sacerdoti sparsero colle loro mani il sangue, e i leviti scorticarono gli olocausti,
12 Next they put the burnt offering aside for presentation to the family divisions of the laity, so that theycould offer it to Yahweh in the way prescribed in the Book of Moses; they did the same with the bul ocks.	12 e li separarono per distribuirli per le case e per le famiglie di ciascuno, affinchè fossero offerti al Signore, come sta scritto nel libro di Mosè. E fecero lo stesso anche dei buoi.
13 They roasted the Passover victim over an open fire in accordance with the regulation and boiled theconsecrated offerings in pots, kettles and pans, which they then distributed to al the laity as quickly as theycould.	13 E fecero arrostire al fuoco la Pasqua, come sta scritto nella legge; ma le ostie pacifiche le fecero cuocere nelle caldaie, nelle pentole, nelle marmitte, e' s'affrettarono a portarle, a tutto il popolo.
14 Afterwards they provided for themselves and the priests, since the Aaronite priests were kept busy tilnightfall making the burnt offerings and offering the fat; that was why the Levites prepared the Passover forthemselves and for the Aaronite priests.	14 Poi ne fecero cuocere per sè e pei sacerdoti, chè i sacerdoti furono occupati fine alla notte nell'offerta degli olocausti e dei grassi, ecco perchè da ultimo i leviti prepararono per sè e per i sacerdoti figli d'Aronne.
15 The Asaphite singers were at their places, in accordance with the command of David and Asaph,Heman and Jeduthun the king's seer; so were the gatekeepers at each gate. Because they could not leave theirduties, their brothers the Levites prepared the Passover for them.	15 I cantori figli di Asaf erano al loro posto secondo l'ordine di David, di Asaf, di Eman e di Iditun, pro­feti del re. I portinai montavan la guardia a ciascuna porta in modo da non allontanarsi nemmen per un momento dal loro ministero: per questo prepararon loro da mangiare i leviti loro fratelli.
16 So the whole service of Yahweh was arranged that day to celebrate the Passover and to bring burntofferings on the altar of Yahweh, in accordance with King Josiah's command.	16 Tutto il culto del Signore fu dunque compiuto in quel giorno secondo i riti, per fare la Pasqua e offrire gli olocausti sull'altare del Signore secondo l'ordine del re.
17 On that occasion the Israelites who were present celebrated the Passover and the feast ofUnleavened Bread for seven days.	17 Così i figli d'Israele che ivi si trovavano fecero allora la Pasqua e la solennità degli azzimi per sette giorni.
18 No Passover like this one had ever been celebrated in Israel since the days of the prophet Samuel,nor had any of the kings of Israel ever celebrated a Passover like the one celebrated by Josiah, the priests, theLevites, al Judah and Israel who were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.	18 Non fu fatta mai una tal Pasqua in Israele dai giorni di Samuele pro­feta, anzi nessun di tutti i re d'I­sraele fece la Pasqua come Giosia per mezzo dei sacerdoti e dei leviti, con tutto Giuda e Israele che si trovavan là e cogli abitanti di Gerusalemme.
19 This Passover was celebrated in the eighteenth year of Josiah's reign.	19 Questa Pasqua fu celebrata l'anno decimo ottavo del re Giosia. Morte di Giosia.
20 After all this, when Josiah had provided for the Temple, Necho king of Egypt advanced to give battleat Carchemish on the Euphrates and Josiah went to intercept him.	20 Dopo che Giosia ebbe restaurato il tempio, Necao re d'Egitto salì per combattere a Carcamis sull'Eufrate. Giosia marciò contro di lui;
21 Necho however sent him messengers to say, 'Why be concerned about me, king of Judah? I havenot come today to attack you; my quarrel is with another dynasty. God has commanded me to move quickly, sokeep wel clear of the god who is with me!'	21 ma Necao mandò ambasciatori a dirgli: « Che abbiamo fra noi, o re di Giuda? Oggi io non vengo contro te, ma combatto contro un'altra casa, verso la quale Dio m'ha comandato di marciare precipitosamente. Lascia depporti a Dio, il quale è con me, affinchè egli non ti uccida ».
22 But Josiah was not to be deflected from his determination to fight him, and would not listen toNecho's words, which came from the mouth of God. He gave battle in the plain of Megiddo.	22 Ma Giosia non volle tornare indietro, anzi preparò contro di lui guerra, e invece di quietarsi alle parole di Necao, che venivano dalla bocca di Dio, si avanzò per combattere nel campo di Mageddo.
23 The archers shot King Josiah. The king then said to his retainers, 'Take me away; I am badlywounded.'	23 Ivi, ferito dagli arcieri, disse ai suoi servi: « Portatemi fuori della battaglia, perchè io son ferito gravemente ».
24 So his retainers lifted him out of his own chariot, transferred him to one which he had in reserve andbrought him to Jerusalem, where he died and was buried in the tombs of his ancestors. Al Judah and Jerusalemheld mourning for Josiah.	24 Essi, trasportatolo da quel cocchio sopra un altro che, secondo l'uso dei re, gli andava dietro, lo portarono a Gerusalemme. Egli morì e fu sepolto nel mausoleo dei suoi padri, e tutto Giuda e Gerusa­lemme lo piansero;
25 Jeremiah composed a lament for Josiah and all the male and female singers to this day lamentJosiah in their dirges; they have made it a rule in Israel; they are recorded in the Lamentations.	25 ma più d'ogni altro Geremia, del quale i cantori e le cantatrici ripeterono fino al presente le lamentazioni sopra Giosia, il che divenne come legge in Israele. Si trovano scritte tra le lamentazioni.
26 The rest of the history of Josiah, his deeds of faithful love conforming to what is prescribed in theLaw of Yahweh,	26 Il rimanente delle gesta di Giosia e delle sue misericordie, ordinate per legge dal Signore,
27 his history from first to last, are recorded in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.	27 e le sue azioni, dalle prime alle ultime, sono scritte nel libro dei re di Giuda e d'Israele.
