1 Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, with cedar wood, stone-cutters and carpenters, to build hima palace.	1 Hirão, rei de Tiro, enviou também mensageiros a Davide, madeiras de cedro, pedreiros e carpinteiros, para lhe fazerem uma casa.
2 David then knew that Yahweh had confirmed him as king of Israel and, for the sake of his people, hadextended his sovereignty.	2 Davide reconheceu que o Senhor o tinha confirmado rei sobre Israel e que o seu reino se tinha elevado por amor de Israel, seu povo.
3 David took more wives in Jerusalem and fathered more sons and daughters.	3 Davide tomou também em Jerusalém outras mulheres, e teve filhos e filhas.
4 These are the names of the children born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,	4 Estes são os nomes dos que lhe nasceram em Jerusalém: Samua, Sobad, Natan, Salomão,
5 Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet,	5 Noga, Nafeg, Jafia.
6 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,	6 Elisama, Baaliada e Elifalet.
7 Elishama, Beeliada, Eliphelet.	7 Os Filisteus, tendo ouvido dizer que Davide tinha sido ungido rei sobre todo o Israel, juntaram-se todos para o atacarem. Davide, tendo sabido isto, foi ao seu encontro.
8 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed as king of al Israel, they al invaded to seekhim out. On hearing this, David marched out towards them.	8 Os Filisteus, tendo chegado, espalharam-se pelo vale de Refaim.
9 When the Philistines arrived, they deployed in the Val ey of the Rephaim.	9 Davide consultou o Senhor, dizendo: Irei eu contra os Filisteus, e entregar-mos-ás tu nas minhas mãos? O Senhor respondeu-lhe: Vai, que eu tos entregarei nas tuas mãos.
10 David consulted God and asked, 'Shall I attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my power?'Yahweh replied to him, 'Attack! I shal deliver them into your power.'	10 Tendo eles, pois, chegado a Baalfarasim, Davide desbaratou-os aí e disse: O Senhor dividiu, por meio da minha mão, os meus inimigos, assim como se dividem as águas; por isso este lugar se chamou Baalfarasim.
11 Accordingly, they went up to Baal-Perazim and there David defeated them. David said, 'Through meGod has made a breach in my enemies, as though they had been breached by a flood.' This is why the placewas given the name Baal-Perazim.	11 Os Filisteus deixaram ali os seus deuses, que Davide mandou queimar.
12 They had left their gods behind there, and David ordered them to be burnt.	12 Os Filisteus fizeram ainda outra invasão e espalharam-se pelo vale.
13 Again the Philistines deployed in the valley.	13 Davide consultou segunda vez a Deus, e Deus disse-lhe: Não vás atrás deles, e irás contra eles do lado dos balsameiros.
14 David again consulted God, and God replied, 'Do not attack them from the front; go round andengage them opposite the balsam trees.	14 E, quando ouvires um rumor como de passos, entre as copas dos balsameiros, então sairás à peleja; porque Deus saiu diante de ti, para desbaratar o acampamento dos Filisteus.
15 When you hear the sound of footsteps in the tops of the balsam trees, launch your attack, for that willbe God going out ahead of you to defeat the Philistine army.'	15 Fez, pois, Davide como o Senhor lhe tinha mandado, e desbaratou o acampamento dos Filisteus, desde Gabaon até Gazer.
16 David did as God had ordered, and they beat the Philistine army from Gibeon to Gezer.	16 A fama de Davide espalhou-se por todos os povos, e o Senhor o fez formidável a todas as gentes.
17 David's fame then spread to every country, and Yahweh made him feared by every nation.
