1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil.	1 Dann wurde Jesus vom Geist in die Wüste geführt; dort sollte er vom Teufel in Versuchung geführt werden.
2 He fasted for forty days and forty nights, and afterwards he was hungry.	2 Als er vierzig Tage und vierzig Nächte gefastet hatte, bekam er Hunger.
3 The tempter approached and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become loaves of bread."	3 Da trat der Versucher an ihn heran und sagte: Wenn du Gottes Sohn bist, so befiehl, dass aus diesen Steinen Brot wird.
4 He said in reply, "It is written: 'One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.'"	4 Er aber antwortete: In der Schrift heißt es: Der Mensch lebt nicht nur von Brot, sondern von jedem Wort, das aus Gottes Mund kommt.
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city, and made him stand on the parapet of the temple,	5 Darauf nahm ihn der Teufel mit sich in die Heilige Stadt, stellte ihn oben auf den Tempel
6 and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down. For it is written: 'He will command his angels concerning you and 'with their hands they will support you, lest you dash your foot against a stone.'"	6 und sagte zu ihm: Wenn du Gottes Sohn bist, so stürz dich hinab; denn es heißt in der Schrift: Seinen Engeln befiehlt er, dich auf ihren Händen zu tragen, damit dein Fuß nicht an einen Stein stößt.
7 Jesus answered him, "Again it is written, 'You shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test.'"	7 Jesus antwortete ihm: In der Schrift heißt es auch: Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, nicht auf die Probe stellen.
8 Then the devil took him up to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in their magnificence,	8 Wieder nahm ihn der Teufel mit sich und führte ihn auf einen sehr hohen Berg; er zeigte ihm alle Reiche der Welt mit ihrer Pracht
9 and he said to him, "All these I shall give to you, if you will prostrate yourself and worship me."	9 und sagte zu ihm: Das alles will ich dir geben, wenn du dich vor mir niederwirfst und mich anbetest.
10 At this, Jesus said to him, "Get away, Satan! It is written: 'The Lord, your God, shall you worship and him alone shall you serve.'"	10 Da sagte Jesus zu ihm: Weg mit dir, Satan! Denn in der Schrift steht: Vor dem Herrn, deinem Gott, sollst du dich niederwerfen und ihm allein dienen.
11 Then the devil left him and, behold, angels came and ministered to him.	11 Darauf ließ der Teufel von ihm ab und es kamen Engel und dienten ihm.
12 When he heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew to Galilee.	12 Als Jesus hörte, dass man Johannes ins Gefängnis geworfen hatte, zog er sich nach Galiläa zurück.
13 He left Nazareth and went to live in Capernaum by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali,	13 Er verließ Nazaret, um in Kafarnaum zu wohnen, das am See liegt, im Gebiet von Sebulon und Naftali.

17 From that time on, Jesus began to preach and say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."	17 Von da an begann Jesus zu verkünden: Kehrt um! Denn das Himmelreich ist nahe.
18 As he was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen.	18 Als Jesus am See von Galiläa entlangging, sah er zwei Brüder, Simon, genannt Petrus, und seinen Bruder Andreas; sie warfen gerade ihr Netz in den See, denn sie waren Fischer.
19 He said to them, "Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men."	19 Da sagte er zu ihnen: Kommt her, folgt mir nach! Ich werde euch zu Menschenfischern machen.
20 At once they left their nets and followed him.	20 Sofort ließen sie ihre Netze liegen und folgten ihm.
21 He walked along from there and saw two other brothers, James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They were in a boat, with their father Zebedee, mending their nets. 23 He went around all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and curing every disease and illness among the people.	23 Er zog in ganz Galiläa umher, lehrte in den Synagogen, verkündete das Evangelium vom Reich und heilte im Volk alle Krankheiten und Leiden.
24 His fame spread to all of Syria, and they brought to him all who were sick with various diseases and racked with pain, those who were possessed, lunatics, and paralytics, and he cured them.	24 Und sein Ruf verbreitete sich in ganz Syrien. Man brachte Kranke mit den verschiedensten Gebrechen und Leiden zu ihm, Besessene, Mondsüchtige und Gelähmte, und er heilte sie alle.
25 And great crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, and Judea, and from beyond the Jordan followed him.	25 Scharen von Menschen aus Galiläa, der Dekapolis, aus Jerusalem und Judäa und aus dem Gebiet jenseits des Jordan folgten ihm.
