1 "Do not make false gods for yourselves. You shall not erect an idol or a sacred pillar for yourselves, nor shall you set up a stone figure for worship in your land; for I, the LORD, am your God.	1 No os hagáis ídolos, ni pongáis imágenes o estelas, ni coloquéis en vuestra tierra piedras grabadas para postraros ante ellas, porque yo soy Yahveh vuestro Dios.
2 Keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary. I am the LORD.	2 Guardaréis mis sábados, y respetaréis mi santuario. Yo, Yahveh.
3 "If you live in accordance with my precepts and are careful to observe my commandments,	3 Si camináis según mis preceptos y guardáis mis mandamientos, poniéndolos en práctica,
4 I will give you rain in due season, so that the land will bear its crops, and the trees their fruit;	4 os enviaré las lluvias a su tiempo, para que la tierra dé sus frutos y el árbol del campo su fruto.
5 your threshing will last till vintage time, and your vintage till the time for sowing, and you will have food to eat in abundance, so that you may dwell securely in your land.	5 El tiempo de trilla alcanzará hasta la vendimia, y la vendimia hasta la siembra; comeréis vuestro pan hasta saciaros y habitaréis seguros en vuestra tierra.
6 I will establish peace in the land, that you may lie down to rest without anxiety. I will rid the country of ravenous beasts, and keep the sword of war from sweeping across your land.	6 Yo daré paz a la tierra y dormiréis sin que nadie os turbe; haré desaparecer del país las bestias feroces, y la espada no pasará por vuestra tierra.
7 You will rout your enemies and lay them low with your sword.	7 Perseguiréis a vuestros enemigos; que caerán ante vosotros a filo de espada.
8 Five of you will put a hundred of your foes to flight, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand of them, till they are cut down by your sword.	8 Cinco de vosotros perseguiréis a cien, y cien de vosotros perseguiréis a 10.000; vuestros enemigos ante vosotros caerán a filo de espada.
9 I will look with favor upon you, and make you fruitful and numerous, as I carry out my covenant with you.	9 Yo me volveré hacia vosotros. Yo os haré fecundos, os multiplicaré y mantendré mi alianza con vosotros.
10 So much of the old crops will you have stored up for food that you will have to discard them to make room for the new.	10 Comeréis de cosecha añeja y llegaréis a echar la añeja para dar cabida a la nueva.
11 I will set my Dwelling among you, and will not disdain you.	11 Estableceré mi morada en medio de vosotros y no os rechazaré.
12 Ever present in your midst, I will be your God, and you will be my people;	12 Me pasearé en medio de vosotros, y seré para vosotros Dios, y vosotros seréis para mí un pueblo.
13 for it is I, the LORD, your God, who brought you out of the land of the Egyptians and freed you from their slavery, breaking the yoke they had laid upon you and letting you walk erect.	13 Yo soy Yahveh, vuestro Dios, que os saqué del país de Egipto, para que no fueseis sus esclavos; rompí las coyundas de vuestro yugo y os hice andar con la cabeza erguida.
14 "But if you do not heed me and do not keep all these commandments,	14 Pero si no me escucháis y no cumplís todos estos mandamientos;
15 if you reject my precepts and spurn my decrees, refusing to obey all my commandments and breaking my covenant,	15 si despreciáis mis preceptos y rechazáis mis normas, no haciendo caso de todos mis mandamientos y rompiendo mi alianza,
16 then I, in turn, will give you your deserts. I will punish you with terrible woes--with wasting and fever to dim the eyes and sap the life. You will sow your seed in vain, for your enemies will consume the crop.	16 también yo haré lo mismo con vosotros. Traeré sobre vosotros el terror, la tisis y la fiebre, que os abrasen los ojos y os consuman el alma. Sembraréis en vano vuestra semilla, pues se la comerán vuestros enemigos.
17 I will turn against you, till you are beaten down before your enemies and lorded over by your foes. You will take to flight though no one pursues you.	17 Me volveré contra vosotros y seréis derrotados ante vuestros enemigos; os tiranizarán los que os aborrecen y huiréis sin que nadie os persiga.
18 "If even after this you do not obey me, I will increase the chastisement for your sins sevenfold,	18 Si ni aun con esto me obedecéis, volveré a castigaros siete veces más por vuestros pecados.
19 to break your haughty confidence. I will make the sky above you as hard as iron, and your soil as hard as bronze,	19 Quebrantaré vuestra orgullosa fuerza y haré vuestro cielo como hierro y vuestra tierra como bronce.
20 so that your strength will be spent in vain; your land will bear no crops, and its trees no fruit.	20 Vuestras fuerzas se consumirán en vano, pues vuestra tierra no dará sus productos ni el árbol del campo sus frutos.
21 "If then you become defiant in your unwillingness to obey me, I will multiply my blows another sevenfold, as your sins deserve.	21 Y si seguís enfrentándoos conmigo y no queréis oírme, volveré a castigaros siete veces más a causa de vuestros pecados.
22 I will unleash the wild beasts against you, to rob you of your children and wipe out your livestock, till your population dwindles away and your roads become deserted.	22 Soltaré contra vosotros las fieras salvajes, que os privarán de vuestros hijos, exterminarán vuestro ganado y os reducirán a unos pocos, de modo que vuestros caminos queden desiertos.
23 "If, with all this, you still refuse to be chastened by me and continue to defy me,	23 Si aun con esto no os corregís ante mí, sino que seguís enfrentándoos conmigo,
24 I, too, will defy you and will smite you for your sins seven times harder than before.	24 también yo me enfrentaré con vosotros, y os azotaré yo mismo siete veces más por vuestros pecados.
25 I will make the sword, the avenger of my covenant, sweep over you. Though you then huddle together in your walled cities, I will send in pestilence among you, till you are forced to surrender to the enemy.	25 Traeré sobre vosotros la espada vengadora de la alianza. Os reuniréis entonces en vuestras ciudades, pero yo enviaré la peste en medio de vosotros y seréis entregados en manos del enemigo.
26 And as I cut off your supply of bread, ten women will need but one oven for baking all the bread they dole out to you in rations--not enough food to still your hunger.	26 Cuando yo os retire el bastón del pan diez mujeres cocerán todo vuestro pan en un solo horno, y os lo darán tan medido que comeréis y no os saciaréis.
27 "If, despite all this, you still persist in disobeying and defying me,	27 Si con esto no me obedecéis y seguís enfrentándoos conmigo,
28 I, also, will meet you with fiery defiance and will chastise you with sevenfold fiercer punishment for your sins,	28 yo me enfrentaré a vosotros con ira, y os castigaré yo mismo siete veces más por vuestros pecados.
29 till you begin to eat the flesh of your own sons and daughters.	29 Comeréis la carne de vuestros hijos y la carne de vuestras hijas comeréis.
30 I will demolish your high places, overthrow your incense stands, and cast your corpses on those of your idols. In my abhorrence of you,	30 Destruiré vuestros altos, abatiré vuestros altares de incienso, amontonaré vuestros cadáveres sobre los cadáveres de vuestros ídolos, y yo mismo os aborreceré.
31 I will lay waste your cities and devastate your sanctuaries, refusing to accept your sweet-smelling offerings.	31 Reduciré vuestras ciudades a ruina y devastaré vuestros santuarios, no aspiraré ya más vuestros calmantes aromas.
32 So devastated will I leave the land that your very enemies who come to live there will stand aghast at the sight of it.	32 Yo asolaré la tierra, y de ello quedarán atónitos vuestros mismos enemigos al venir a ocuparla.
33 You yourselves I will scatter among the nations at the point of my drawn sword, leaving your countryside desolate and your cities deserted.	33 A vosotros os esparciré entre las naciones, y desenvainaré la espada en pos de vosotros. Vuestra tierra será un yermo y vuestras ciudades una ruina.
34 Then shall the land retrieve its lost sabbaths during all the time it lies waste, while you are in the land of your enemies; then shall the land have rest and make up for its sabbaths	34 Entonces pagará la tierra sus sábados, durante todos los días que esté desolada mientras vosotros estéis en el país de vuestros enemigos; entonces sí que descansará la tierra y pagará sus sábados.
35 during all the time that it lies desolate, enjoying the rest that you would not let it have on the sabbaths when you lived there.	35 Durante todo el tiempo de la desolación descansará, por lo que no pudo descansar en vuestros sábados cuando habitabais en ella.
36 "Those of you who survive in the lands of their enemies I will make so fainthearted that, if leaves rustle behind them, they will flee headlong, as if from the sword, though no one pursues them;	36 A los que quedaren de vosotros, les infundiré pánico en sus corazones, en el país de sus enemigos; el ruido de una hoja caída los ahuyentará, huirán como quien huye de la espada, y caerán sin que nadie los persiga.
37 stumbling over one another as if to escape a weapon, while no one is after them--so helpless will you be to take a stand against your foes!	37 Se atropellarán unos a otros, como delante de la espada, aunque nadie los persiga. No podréis teneros en pie en presencia de vuestros enemigos.
38 You will be lost among the Gentiles, swallowed up in your enemies' country.	38 Pereceréis entre las naciones, y os devorará el país de vuestros enemigos.
39 Those of you who survive in the lands of their enemies will waste away for their own and their fathers' guilt.	39 Y quienes de vosotros sobrevivan, se pudrirán a causa de su iniquidad en los países de vuestros enemigos; por las iniquidades de sus padres unidas a las suyas, se pudrirán.
40 "Thus they will have to confess that they and their fathers were guilty of having rebelled against me and of having defied me,	40 Entonces confesarán su iniquidad y la iniquidad de sus padres, en la rebeldía con que se rebelaron contra mí; y aun más, porque se enfrentaron conmigo.
41 so that I, too, had to defy them and bring them into their enemies' land. Then, when their uncircumcised hearts are humbled and they make amends for their guilt,	41 También yo me enfrentaré con ellos y los llevaré al país de sus enemigos. Entonces se humillará su corazón incircunciso y aceptarán el castigo de su iniquidad.
42 I will remember my covenant with Jacob, my covenant with Isaac, and my covenant with Abraham; and of the land, too, I will be mindful.	42 Y yo me acordaré de mi alianza con Jacob, y de mi alianza con Isaac; y recordaré mi alianza con Abraham; y recordaré la tierra.
43 But the land must first be rid of them, that in its desolation it may make up its lost sabbaths, and that they, too, may make good the debt of their guilt for having spurned my precepts and abhorred my statutes.	43 Pero la tierra será antes abandonada por ellos y pagará sus sábados, mientras quede desolada con su ausencia; pero ellos también pagarán el castigo de su iniquidad, por cuanto desecharon mis normas y su alma aborreció mis preceptos.
44 Yet even so, even while they are in their enemies' land, I will not reject or spurn them, lest, by wiping them out, I make void my covenant with them; for I, the LORD, am their God.	44 A pesar de todo, cuando estén ellos en tierra enemiga, no los desecharé ni los aborreceré hasta su total exterminio, anulando mi alianza con ellos, porque yo soy Yahveh, su Dios;
45 I will remember them because of the covenant I made with their forefathers, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt under the very eyes of the Gentiles, that I, the LORD, might be their God."	45 me acordaré, en su favor, de la alianza hecha con sus antepasados, a quienes saqué de la tierra de Egipto, ante los ojos de las naciones, para ser su Dios, yo Yahveh.
46 These are the precepts, decrees and laws which the LORD had Moses promulgate on Mount Sinai in the pact between himself and the Israelites.	46 Estos son los preceptos, normas y leyes que Yahveh estableció entre él y los israelitas en el monte Sinaí, por medio de Moisés.
