Deuxième épître à Timothée 1

JERUSALEM	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Paul, apôtre du Christ Jésus par la volonté de Dieu, pour annoncer la promesse de la vie quiest dans le Christ Jésus,	1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the will of God, according to the promise of life, which is in Christ Jesus.
2 à Timothée mon enfant bien-aimé, grâce, miséricorde, paix de par Dieu le Père et le ChristJésus notre Seigneur.	2 To Timothy my dearly beloved son, grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from Christ Jesus our Lord.
3 Je rends grâce à Dieu que je sers, à la suite de mes ancêtres, avec une conscience pure,lorsque, sans cesse, nuit et jour, je fais mémoire de toi dans mes prières.	3 I give thanks to God, whom I serve from my forefathers with a pure conscience, that without ceasing, I have a remembrance of thee in my prayers, night and day.
4 En me rappelant tes larmes, je brûle du désir de te revoir, afin d'être rempli de joie.	4 Desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy,
5 J'évoque le souvenir de la foi sans détours qui est en toi, foi qui, d'abord, résida dans le coeurde ta grand'mère Loïs et de ta mère Eunice et qui, j'en suis convaincu, réside également en toi.	5 Calling to mind that faith which is in thee unfeigned, which also dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and in thy mother Eunice, and I am certain that in thee also.
6 C'est pourquoi je t'invite à raviver le don spirituel que Dieu a déposé en toi par l'imposition demes mains.	6 For which cause I admonish thee, that thou stir up the grace of God which is in thee, by the imposition of my hands.
7 Car ce n'est pas un esprit de crainte que Dieu nous a donné, mais un Esprit de force, d'amouret de maîtrise de soi.	7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear: but of power, and of love, and of sobriety.
8 Ne rougis donc pas du témoignage à rendre à notre Seigneur, ni de moi son prisonnier, maissouffre plutôt avec moi pour l'Evangile, soutenu par la force de Dieu,	8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but labour with the gospel, according to the power of God,
9 qui nous a sauvés et nous a appelés d'un saint appel, non en considération de nos oeuvres,mais conformément à son propre dessein et à sa grâce. A nous donnée avant tous les siècles dans le Christ Jésus,	9 Who hath delivered us and called us by his holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the times of the world.
10 cette grâce a été maintenant manifestée par l'Apparition de notre Sauveur le Christ Jésus, quia détruit la mort et fait resplendir la vie et l'immortalité par le moyen de l'Evangile,	10 But is now made manifest by the illumination of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath destroyed death, and hath brought to light life and incorruption by the gospel:
11 au service duquel j'ai été établi, moi, héraut, apôtre et docteur.	11 Wherein I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and teacher of the Gentiles.
12 C'est à cause de cela que je connais cette nouvelle épreuve, mais je n'en rougis pas, car jesais en qui j'ai mis ma foi et j'ai la conviction qu'il est capable de garder mon dépôt jusqu'à ce Jour-là.	12 For which cause I also suffer these things: but I am not ashamed. For I know whom I have believed, and I am certain that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him, against that day.
13 Prends pour norme les saines paroles que tu as entendues de moi, dans la foi et l'amour duChrist Jésus.	13 Hold the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me in faith, and in the love which is in Christ Jesus.
14 Garde le bon dépôt avec l'aide de l'Esprit Saint qui habite en nous.	14 Keep the good thing committed to thy trust by the Holy Ghost, who dwelleth in us.
15 Tu le sais, tous ceux d'Asie, parmi lesquels Phygèle et Hermogène, se sont détournés de moi.	15 Thou knowest this, that all they who are in Asia, are turned away from me: of whom are Phigellus and Hermogenes.
16 Que le Seigneur fasse miséricorde à la famille d'Onésiphore, car souvent il m'a réconforté, etil n'a pas rougi de mes chaînes;	16 The Lord give mercy to the house of Onesiphorus: because he hath often refreshed me, and hath not been ashamed of my chain:
17 au contraire, à son arrivée à Rome, il m'a recherché activement et m'a découvert.	17 But when he was come to Rome, he carefully sought me, and found me.
18 Que le Seigneur lui donne d'obtenir miséricorde auprès du Seigneur en ce Jour-là. Quant auxservices qu'il m'a rendus, à Ephèse, tu les connais mieux que personne.	18 The Lord grant unto him to find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou very well knowest.
