JERUSALEM	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Il dit à Moïse: "Montez vers Yahvé, toi, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu et 70 des anciens d'Israël, et vousvous prosternerez à distance.	1 He then said to Moses, 'Come up to Yahweh, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of theelders of Israel and bow down at a distance.
2 Moïse s'approchera seul de Yahvé. Eux n'approcheront pas et le peuple ne montera pas avec lui."	2 Moses alone will approach Yahweh; the others wil not approach, nor wil the people come up withhim.'
3 Moïse vint rapporter au peuple toutes les paroles de Yahvé et toutes les lois, et tout le peuplerépondit d'une seule voix; ils dirent: "Toutes les paroles que Yahvé a prononcées, nous les mettrons en pratique."	3 Moses went and told the people al Yahweh's words and al the laws, and al the people answered withone voice, 'All the words Yahweh has spoken we wil carry out!'
4 Moïse mit par écrit toutes les paroles de Yahvé puis, se levant de bon matin, il bâtit un autel au basde la montagne, et douze stèles pour les douze tribus d'Israël.	4 Moses put al Yahweh's words into writing, and early next morning he built an altar at the foot of themountain, with twelve standing-stones for the twelve tribes of Israel.
5 Puis il envoya de jeunes Israélites offrir des holocaustes et immoler à Yahvé de jeunes taureaux ensacrifice de communion.	5 Then he sent certain young Israelites to offer burnt offerings and sacrifice bul ocks to Yahweh ascommunion sacrifices.
6 Moïse prit la moitié du sang et la mit dans des bassins, et l'autre moitié du sang, il la répandit surl'autel.	6 Moses then took half the blood and put it into basins, and the other half he sprinkled on the altar.
7 Il prit le livre de l'Alliance et il en fit la lecture au peuple qui déclara: "Tout ce que Yahvé a dit,nous le ferons et nous y obéirons."	7 Then, taking the Book of the Covenant, he read it to the listening people, who then said, 'We shall do everything that Yahweh has said; we shall obey.'
8 Moïse, ayant pris le sang, le répandit sur le peuple et dit: "Ceci est le sang de l'Alliance que Yahvé aconclue avec vous moyennant toutes ces clauses."	8 Moses then took the blood and sprinkled it over the people, saying, 'This is the blood of the covenantwhich Yahweh has made with you, entailing all these stipulations.'
9 Moïse monta, ainsi qu'Aaron, Nadab, Abihu et 70 des anciens d'Israël.	9 Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu and seventy elders of Israel then went up,
10 Ils virent le Dieu d'Israël. Sous ses pieds il y avait comme un pavement de saphir, aussi pur que leciel même.	10 and they saw the God of Israel beneath whose feet there was what looked like a sapphire pavementpure as the heavens themselves,
11 Il ne porta pas la main sur les notables des Israélites. Ils contemplèrent Dieu puis ils mangèrent etburent.	11 but he did no harm to the Israelite notables; they actually gazed on God and then ate and drank.
12 Yahvé dit à Moïse: "Monte vers moi sur la montagne et demeure là, que je te donne les tables depierre -- la loi et le commandement -- que j'ai écrites pour leur instruction."	12 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Come up to me on the mountain. Stay there, and I will give you the stonetablets -- the law and the commandment -- which I have written for their instruction.'
13 Moïse se leva, ainsi que Josué son serviteur, et ils montèrent à la montagne de Dieu.	13 Moses made ready, with Joshua his assistant, and they went up the mountain of God.
14 Il dit aux anciens: "Attendez-nous ici jusqu'à notre retour; vous avez avec vous Aaron et Hur, quecelui qui a une affaire à régler s'adresse à eux."	14 He said to the elders, 'Wait here for us until we come back to you. You have Aaron and Hur with you;if anyone has any matter to settle, let him go to them.'
15 Puis Moïse monta sur la montagne. La nuée couvrit la montagne.	15 Moses then went up the mountain. Cloud covered the mountain.
16 La gloire de Yahvé s'établit sur le mont Sinaï, et la nuée le couvrit pendant six jours. Le septièmejour, Yahvé appela Moïse du milieu de la nuée.	16 The glory of Yahweh rested on Mount Sinai and the cloud covered it for six days. On the seventh dayYahweh cal ed to Moses from inside the cloud.
17 L'aspect de la gloire de Yahvé était aux yeux des Israélites celui d'une flamme dévorante ausommet de la montagne.	17 To the watching Israelites, the glory of Yahweh looked like a devouring fire on the mountain top.
18 Moïse entra dans la nuée et monta sur la montagne. Et Moïse demeura sur la montagne 40 jours et40 nuits.	18 Moses went right into the cloud and went on up the mountain. Moses stayed on the mountain for fortydays and forty nights.
