DOUAI-RHEIMSNEW AMERICAN BIBLE
A canticle of a psalm for David himself.1 A song; a psalm of David
My heart is ready, O God, my heart is ready: I will sing, and will give praise, with my glory.2 My heart is steadfast, God; my heart is steadfast. I will sing and chant praise.
Arise, my glory; arise, psaltery and harp: I will arise in the morning early.3 Awake, my soul; awake, lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn.
I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: and I will sing unto thee among the populations.4 I will praise you among the peoples, LORD; I will chant your praise among the nations.
For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth even unto the clouds.5 For your love towers to the heavens; your faithfulness, to the skies.
Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens, and thy glory over all the earth:6 Appear on high over the heavens, God; may your glory appear above all the earth.
that thy beloved may be delivered. Save with thy right hand and hear me.7 Help with your right hand and answer us that your loved ones may escape.
God hath spoken in his holiness. I will rejoice, and I will divide Sichem and I will mete out the vale of tabernacles.8 God promised in the sanctuary: "I will exult, I will apportion Shechem; the valley of Succoth I will measure out.
Galaad is mine, and Manasses is mine and Ephraim the protection of my head. Juda is my king:9 Gilead is mine, mine is Manasseh; Ephraim is the helmet for my head, Judah, my own scepter.
Moab the pot of my hope. Over Edom I will stretch out my shoe: the aliens are become my friends.10 Moab is my washbowl; upon Edom I cast my sandal; I will triumph over Philistia."
Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?11 Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me into Edom?
Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our armies?12 Was it not you who rejected us, God? Do you no longer march with our armies?
O grant us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.13 Give us aid against the foe; worthless is human help.
Through God we shall do mightily: and he will bring our enemies to nothing.14 We will triumph with the help of God, who will trample down our foes.
