1 At this my heart trembleth, and is moved out of its place.	1 À ce spectacle mon cœur sursaute et ne peut pas rester en place.
2 Hear ye attentively the terror of his voice, and the sound that cometh out of his mouth.	2 Écoutez donc le fracas de sa voix, le grondement qui sort de sa bouche!
3 He beholdeth under all the heavens, and his light is upon the ends of the earth.	3 D’un bout du ciel à l’autre il a lancé l’éclair: il atteindra les extrémités de la terre.
4 After it a noise shall roar, he shall thunder with the voice of his majesty, and shall not be found out, when his voice shall be heard.	4 Puis on entend un rugissement: c’est sa voix souveraine qui tonne et les éclairs ne cesseront pas tandis qu’elle se fera entendre.
5 God shall thunder wonderfully with his voice, he that doth great and unsearchable things.	5 Oui, Dieu par sa voix opère des merveilles, il fait des prodiges qui nous dépassent.
6 He commandeth the snow to go down upon the earth, and the winter rain, and the shower of his strength.	6 Il dit à la neige: “Descends sur la terre!” et aux pluies d’averse: “Allez-y fort!”
7 He sealeth up the hand of all men, that every one may know his works.	7 C’est alors qu’il enferme chacun en son abri, pour que tous reconnaissent sa puissance.
8 Then the beast shall go into his covert, and shall abide in his den.	8 Même les bêtes vont à leurs tanières et se couchent dans leurs refuges.
9 Out of the inner parts shall a tempest come, and cold out of the north.	9 Du sud arrive la tempête, du nord vient le froid.
10 When God bloweth there cometh frost, and again the waters are poured out abundantly.	10 Sous le souffle de Dieu la glace se forme, la surface des eaux se durcit.
11 Corn desireth clouds, and the clouds spread their light :	11 Il charge d’éclairs les nuages, et les nuées déchargent les éclairs.
12 Which go round about, whithersoever the will of him that governeth them shall lead them, to whatsoever he shall command them upon the face of the whole earth :	12 Lui les envoie à la ronde, les fait partir tour à tour: sur toute l’étendue de la terre ils feront le travail qu’il ordonne.
13 Whether in one tribe, or in his own land, or in what place soever of his mercy he shall command them to be found.	13 Si c’est pour punir, il feront ce qui lui plaît, si c’est pour une grâce, on la recevra.
14 Hearken to these things, Job : Stand, and consider the wondrous works of God.	14 Écoute encore ceci, Job, prends le temps d’observer les merveilles de Dieu.
15 Dost thou know when God commanded the rains, to shew his light of his clouds?	15 Sais-tu de quelle façon il les opère? comment il fait briller l’éclair dans la nuée?
16 Knowest thou the great paths of the clouds, and the perfect knowledges?	16 Sais-tu comment flottent les nuages? Quel miracle de science achevée!
17 Are not thy garments hot, when the south wind blows upon the earth?	17 Toi qui ne supportes pas sous tes vêtements, quand la terre s’assoupit sous le vent du midi,
18 Thou perhaps hast made the heavens with him, which are most strong, as if they were of molten brass.	18 l’aurais-tu aidé à forger le firmament, et le laisser ferme comme un miroir de bronze?
19 Shew us what we may say to him : for we are wrapped up in darkness.	19 Dis-moi: comment devons-nous lui parler? ne discutons plus: nous sommes dans les ténèbres.
20 Who shall tell him the things I speak? even if a man shall speak, he shall be swallowed up.	20 Quand je parle, est-ce qu’on le lui répète? Est-il informé de ce que disent les hommes?
21 But now they see not the light : the air on a sudden shall be thickened into clouds, and the wind shall pass and drive them away.	21 Mais quoi? on ne voit plus la lumière… les nuages ont tout obscurci… voici que le vent souffle et les balaye…
22 Cold cometh out of the north, and to God praise with fear.	22 Une lumière dorée nous arrive du nord: c’est l’éclat redoutable dont Dieu s’enveloppe!
23 We cannot find him worthily : he is great in strength, and in judgment, and in justice, and he is ineffable.	23 C’est le Puissant que nous ne pouvions atteindre, grand par sa force, grand par sa justice, si grand en sa justice qu’il n’accable personne!
24 Therefore men shall fear him, and all that seem to themselves to be wise, shall not dare to behold him.	24 C’est pourquoi les humains doivent le craindre: tous les sages ensemble ne sont rien à ses yeux.”
