DOUAI-RHEIMS	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 And Moab rebelled against Israel, after the death of Achab.	1 Después de la muerte de Ajab, Moab se sublevó contra Israel.
2 And Ochozias fell through the lattices of his upper chamber which he had in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, saying to them: Go, consult Beelzebub, the god of Accaron, whether I shall recover of this my illness.	2 Ocozías se cayó por el balcón del piso alto de su casa, en Samaría, y quedó malherido. Entonces envió unos mensajeros con este encargo: «Vayan a consultar a Baal Zebub, el dios de Ecrón, si me repondré de mis heridas».
3 And an angel of the Lord spoke to Elias the Thesbite, saying: Arise, and go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say to them: Is there not a God in Israel, that ye go to consult Beelzebub the god of Accaron?	3 Pero el Angel del Señor dijo a Elías, el tisbita: Sube al encuentro de los mensajeros del rey de Samaría, y diles: ¿Acaso no hay Dios en Israel, para que ustedes vayan a consultar a Baal Zebub, el dios de Ecrón?
4 Wherefore thus saith the Lord: From the bed, on which thou art gone up, thou shalt not come down, but thou shalt surely die. And Elias went away.	4 Por eso, así habla el Señor: No te levantarás del lecho en el que has acostado, porque morirás irremediablemente». Y Elías se fue.
5 And the messengers turned back to Ochozias. And he said to them: Why are you come back?	5 Los mensajeros regresaron, y el rey les preguntó: «¿Cómo es que están de vuelta?».
6 But they answered him: A man met us, and said to us: Go, and return to the king, that sent you, and you shall say to him: Thus saith the Lord: Is it because there was no God in Israel that thou sendest to Beelzebub the god of Accaron? Therefore thou shalt not come down from the bed, on which thou art gone up, but then shalt surely die.	6 Ellos le dijeron: «Un hombre nos salió al encuentro y nos dijo: Vuelvan a ver al rey que los ha enviado y díganle: Así habla el Señor: ¿Acaso no hay Dios en Israel, para que tú mandes a consultar a Baal Zebub, el dios de Ecrón? Por eso, no te levantarás del lecho en el que te has acostado, porque morirás irremediablemente».
7 And he said to them: What manner of man was he who met you, and spoke these words?	7 El rey les preguntó: «¿Cómo era el hombre que subió al encuentro de ustedes y les dijo esas palabras?».
8 But they said: A hairy man with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said: It is Elias the Thesbite.	8 Ellos le respondieron: «Era un hombre con un manto de piel y con un cinturón de cuero ajustado a la cintura. Entonces el rey exclamó: «¡Es Elías, el tisbita!».
9 And he sent to him a captain of fifty, and the fifty men that were under him. And he went up to him, and as he was sitting on the top of a hill, said to him: Man of God, the king hath commanded that thou come down.	9 El rey envió a un oficial con sus cincuenta hombres para buscar a Elías. Cuando él subió a buscarlo, lo encontró sentado en la cumbre la montaña, y le dijo: «Hombre de Dios, el rey ha dicho que bajes».
10 And Elias answering, said to the captain of fifty: If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee, and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him, and the fifty that were with him.	10 Elías respondió al oficial: «Si yo soy un hombre de Dios, que baje fuego del cielo y te devore, a ti y a tus cincuenta hombres». Y bajó fuego del cielo y lo devoró, a él y a sus cincuenta hombres.
11 And again he sent to him another captain of fifty men, and his fifty with him. And he said to him: Man of God, thus saith the king: Make haste and come down.	11 El rey le volvió a enviar otro oficial con sus cincuenta hombres. Este tomó la palabra y dijo a Elías: «Hombre de Dios, así habla el rey: Baja en seguida».
12 Elias answering, said: If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And fire came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.	12 Elías le respondió: «Si yo soy un hombre de Dios, que baje fuego del cielo y te devore, a ti y a tus cincuenta hombres». Y bajo fuego del cielo y lo devoró, a él y a sus cincuenta hombres.
13 Again he sent a third captain of fifty men, and the fifty that were with him. And when he was come, he fell upon his knees, before Elias, and besought him and said: Man of God, despise not my life, and the lives of thy servants that are with me.	13 El rey volvió a enviar a un tercer oficial con sus cincuenta hombres. El tercer oficial subió y, al llegar, se puso de rodillas frente a Elías y le suplicó, diciendo: «Hombre de Dios, por favor, que mi vida y la vida de estos cincuenta servidores tuyos tengan algún valor a tus ojos.
14 Behold fire came down from heaven, and consumed the two first captains of fifty men, and the fifties that were with them: but now I beseech thee to spare my life.	14 Ya ha bajado fuego del cielo y ha devorado a los dos oficiales anteriores con sus cincuenta hombres. Pero ahora, ¡que mi vida tenga algún valor a tus ojos!».
15 And the angel of the Lord spoke to Elias, saying: Go down with him, fear not. He arose therefore, and went down with him to the king,	15 El Angel del Señor dijo a Elías: «Baja con él, no le temas». Elías se levantó, bajó con él a presentarse ante el rey,
16 And said to him: Thus saith the Lord: Because thou hast sent messengers to consult Beelzebub the god of Accaron, as though there were not a God in Israel, of whom thou mightest inquire the word; therefore from the bed on which thou art gone up, thou shalt not come down, but thou shalt surely die.	16 y le dijo: «Así habla el Señor: Por haber enviado mensajeros a consultar a Baal Zebub, el dios de Ecrón, como si no hubiera Dios en Israel para consultar su palabra, por eso, no te levantarás del lecho donde te has acostado: morirás irremediablemente».
17 So he died according to the word of the Lord which Elias spoke, and Joram his brother reigned in his stead, in the second year of Joram the son of Josaphat king of Juda: because he had no son.	17 El rey murió, conforme a la palabra del Señor que había pronunciado Elías. En lugar de él reinó su hermano Joram, en el segundo año de Joram, hijo de Josafat, rey de Judá; porque Ocozías no tenía hijos.
18 But the rest of the acts of Ochozias which he did, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?	18 El resto de los hechos de Ocozías, lo que él hizo, ¿no está escrito en el libro de los Anales de los reyes de Israel?
