1 Ce jour-là, Débora et Barac, fils d’Abinoam, entonnèrent ce cantique.	1 In that day, Deborah and Barak, the son of Abinoam, sang out, saying:
2 “En Israël ils ont dénoué leur chevelure: un peuple de volontaires s’est levé: bénissez Yahvé!	2 “All you of Israel who have willingly offered your lives to danger, bless the Lord!
3 Que les rois écoutent, que les souverains prêtent l’oreille, car je vais chanter Yahvé! Je vais chanter un psaume pour Yahvé, un psaume pour le Dieu d’Israël!	3 Listen, O kings! Pay attention, O princes! It is I, it is I, who will sing to the Lord. I will sing a psalm to the Lord, the God of Israel!
4 Ô Yahvé! Quand tu sortis de Séïr, traversant les campagnes d’Édom, la terre trembla, les cieux fondirent, les nuées se changèrent en eaux.	4 O Lord, when you departed from Seir, and you crossed through the regions of Edom, the earth and the heavens were moved, and the clouds rained down water.
5 Les montagnes furent ébranlées devant Yahvé, devant Yahvé le Dieu d’Israël.	5 The mountains flowed away before the face of the Lord, and Sinai, before the face of the Lord God of Israel.
6 Aux jours de Chamgar, fils d’Anat, aux jours de Yaël, les caravanes ne partaient plus, les voyageurs empruntaient des chemins détournés.	6 In the days of Shamgar, the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the paths were quiet. And whoever entered by them, walked along rough byways.

10 Vous qui montez de blanches ânesses, assis sur vos tapis, vous qui allez par les chemins, chantez!	10 You who ride upon donkeys laboring, and you who sit in judgment, and you who walk along the way, speak out.
11 Près des abreuvoirs le berger chante les bienfaits de Yahvé, les bienfaits de sa bonté envers Israël; mais le peuple de Yahvé est descendu vers les portes de la ville.	11 Where the chariots were struck together, and the army of the enemies was choked, in that place, let the justices of the Lord be described, and let his clemency be for the brave of Israel. Then did the people of the Lord descend to the gates, and obtain leadership.
12 Réveille-toi, réveille-toi, Débora! Réveille-toi et réveille ton peuple! Lève-toi, Barac, et capture ceux qui te capturaient, fils d’Abinoam!	12 Rise up, rise up, O Deborah! Rise up, rise up, and speak a canticle! Rise up, Barak, and seize your captives, O son of Abinoam.
13 Que nos survivants écrasent les puissants, que Yahvé avec moi écrase ceux qui se croient forts.	13 The remnants of the people were saved. The Lord contended with the strong.
14 Les chefs d’Éphraïm sont descendus dans la vallée. Benjamin est à ta suite parmi tes troupes. Des chefs sont descendus de Makir, et de Zabulon ceux qui portent le sceptre.	14 Out of Ephraim, he destroyed those with Amalek, and after him, out of Benjamin, those of your people, O Amalek. From Machir, there descended leaders, and from Zebulun, those who led the army to war.
15 Les chefs d’Issacar sont avec Débora, Issacar est aux côtés de Barac, et dans la plaine il marche sur ses traces. 18 Mais Zabulon est un peuple qui risque sa vie, comme Nephtali, sur les champs de bataille.	18 Yet truly, Zebulun and Naphtali offered their lives to death in the region of Merom.
19 Les rois sont venus, ils ont combattu. À Tanak, près des eaux de Méguiddo, les rois de Canaan ont combattu, mais ils n’ont pas ramassé le butin.	19 The kings came and fought; the kings of Canaan fought at Taanach, beside the waters of Megiddo. And yet they took no spoils.
20 Du haut des cieux les étoiles ont combattu, de leurs chemins elles ont combattu Siséra.	20 The conflict against them was from heaven. The stars, remaining in their order and courses, fought against Sisera.
21 Le torrent du Quichon les a emportés, le torrent des temps anciens, le torrent du Quichon. Ô mon âme, avance la tête haute!	21 The torrent of Kishon dragged away their carcasses, the onrushing torrent, the torrent of Kishon. O my soul, tread upon the stalwart!
22 Quel martèlement de sabots de chevaux, des chevaux lancés à plein galop!	22 The hoofs of the horses were broken, while the strongest of the enemies fled away with fury, and rushed on to ruin.
23 Maudissez Méroz, a dit l’ange de Yahvé, maudissez, maudissez ses habitants, car ils n’étaient pas là pour aider Yahvé, pour aider Yahvé avec les courageux.	23 ‘Cursed be the land of Meroz!’ said the Angel of the Lord. ‘Cursed be its inhabitants! For they did not come to the aid of the Lord, to the assistance of his most valiant men.’

26 D’une main elle a saisi le pieu, et de sa droite, le marteau de l’ouvrier. Elle frappe Siséra et lui fracasse la tête, elle fracasse et transperce sa tempe.	26 She put her left hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workman’s mallet. And she struck Sisera, seeking in his head a place for the wound, and strongly piercing his temples.
27 Il s’écroule à ses pieds, il tombe, il est là étendu. Il est tombé à ses pieds, à où il s’est écroulé il est tombé mort.	27 Between her feet, he was ruined. He fainted away and passed on. He curled up before her feet, and he lay there lifeless and miserable.
28 La mère de Siséra s’est penchée par la fenêtre, elle guette à travers le treillage: “Pourquoi, dit-elle, son char tarde-t-il à rentrer? Que ses chariots sont lents au retour!”	28 His mother gazed through a window and wailed. And she spoke from an upper room: ‘Why does his chariot delay in returning? 29 La plus vive de ses dames lui a répondu, elle même se le répète:	29 One who was wiser than the rest of his wives responded to her mother-in-law with this:
30 “Bien sûr ils partagent le butin: une captive, deux captives pour chaque guerrier. Les étoffes de couleur seront pour Siséra, les broderies seront pour son cou.”	30 ‘Perhaps he is now dividing the spoils, and the most beautiful among the women is being selected for him. Garments of diverse colors are being delivered to Sisera as spoils, and various goods are being collected for the adornment of necks.’
31 Ô Yahvé, que tous tes ennemis périssent ainsi! mais ceux qui t’aiment verront grandir leur force, comme le soleil.” Le pays fut alors tranquille pendant 40 ans.	31 O Lord, so may all your enemies perish! But may those who love you shine with splendor, as the sun shines at its rising.”
	32 And the land rested for forty years.
