BIBLES DES PEUPLES	NEW JERUSALEM
1 En ce temps-là Yahvé me dit: “Taille-toi deux tables de pierre comme les premières, et remonte vers moi sur la montagne. Puis tu te feras une arche de bois.	1 'Yahweh then said to me, "Cut two stone tablets like the first ones, and come up to me on themountain. Make an ark of wood;
2 J’écrirai sur ces tables les paroles qui étaient inscrites sur les premières tables que tu as brisées, et tu les mettras dans l’Arche.”	2 on the tablets I shal inscribe the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke; put them in theark."
3 J’ai donc fabriqué une arche en bois d’acacia et j’ai taillé deux tables de pierre comme les premières. Après quoi j’ai gravi la montagne, ayant en mains les deux tables.	3 So I made an ark of acacia wood, cut two stone tablets like the first and went up the mountain with thetwo tablets in my hand.
4 Yahvé écrivit alors sur les tables le même texte que sur les premières, c’est-à-dire les Dix Paroles que Yahvé vous avait dites sur la montagne, du milieu du feu, au jour de l’assemblée. Et il me les donna.	4 And he inscribed the tablets, as he had inscribed them before, with the Ten Words which Yahweh hadsaid to you on the mountain, from the heart of the fire, on the day of the Assembly. Yahweh then gave them tome.
5 C’est ainsi que je suis redescendu de la montagne; j’ai placé les tables dans l’Arche que j’avais fabriquée, comme Yahvé l’avait ordonné, et elles y sont encore.	5 I turned and came down from the mountain and put the tablets in the ark I had made, and there theystayed, as Yahweh had commanded me.
6 (Les Israélites partirent des puits des Béné-Yaakan pour Moséra. C’est là que mourut Aaron et qu’il fut enterré; Éléazar, son fils, lui succéda comme prêtre.	6 'The Israelites left the wel s of the Bene-Jaakan for Moserah, where Aaron died; he was buried there,and his son Eleazar succeeded him in the priesthood.
7 Ils partirent de là pour Goudgoda, et de Goudgoda ils allèrent à Yotbata, terre riche en eau.	7 From there, they set out for Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah for Jotbathah, an area rich in streams.
8 Là Yahvé mit à part la tribu de Lévi pour porter l’Arche de l’Alliance et se tenir en sa présence: jusqu’à ce jour ils le servent et bénissent en son Nom.	8 Yahweh then set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of Yahweh's covenant, to stand in thepresence of Yahweh, to serve him and to bless in his name, as they stil do today.
9 C’est pourquoi Lévi n’a pas eu de part ni d’héritage avec ses frères, car Yahvé est son héritage comme Yahvé ton Dieu le lui a dit.)	9 This is why Levi has no share or heritage with his brothers: Yahweh is his heritage, as Yahweh yourGod then told him.
10 Je m’étais donc tenu sur la montagne durant 40 jours et 40 nuits et, cette fois encore, Yahvé m’avait écouté, il avait renoncé à te détruire.	10 'And, as before, I stayed on the mountain for forty days and forty nights. And again Yahweh heardmy prayer and agreed not to destroy you.
11 Alors Yahvé m’a dit: “Passe à la tête de ce peuple! qu’il entre et qu’il prenne possession du pays que j’ai juré à leurs pères de leur donner.”	11 And Yahweh said to me, "Be on your way at the head of this people, so that they can go and takepossession of the country which I swore to their ancestors that I would give them."
12 Et maintenant Israël, que te demande Yahvé ton Dieu? Tout simplement de craindre Yahvé ton Dieu, de marcher dans toutes ses voies, de l’aimer et de le servir de tout ton cœur et de toute ton âme.	12 'And now, Israel, what does Yahweh your God ask of you? Only this: to fear Yahweh your God, tofol ow all his ways, to love him, to serve Yahweh your God with al your heart and al your soul,
13 Observe les commandements de Yahvé et les ordonnances que je te donne aujourd’hui, et tout ira bien pour toi.	13 to keep the commandments and laws of Yahweh, which I am laying down for you today for your owngood.
14 Les cieux, les cieux des cieux, la terre et tout ce qu’elle contient, appartiennent à Yahvé ton Dieu.	14 'Look, to Yahweh your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth and everything onit;
15 Pourtant, ce n’est qu’à tes pères que Yahvé s’est attaché pour les aimer. Et après eux il vous a choisis, vous, leur descendance, de préférence à tous les peuples, comme vous le voyez aujourd’hui.	15 yet it was on your ancestors, for love of them, that Yahweh set his heart to love them, and he chosetheir descendants after them, you yourselves, out of all nations, up to the present day.
16 Il vous faut donc une autre circoncision, la purification du cœur, et ne plus faire la forte tête.	16 Circumcise your heart then and be obstinate no longer;
17 Car Yahvé, votre Dieu, est le Dieu des dieux et le Seigneur des Seigneurs. Il est le Dieu grand, puissant et redoutable, qui ne fait pas de faveur et n’accepte pas de cadeau.	17 for Yahweh your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, triumphant and terrible, free of favouritism, never to be bribed.
18 Il fait droit à l’orphelin et à la veuve, il aime l’étranger et lui donne le pain et le vêtement.	18 He it is who sees justice done for the orphan and the widow, who loves the stranger and gives himfood and clothing.
19 Vous aimerez donc l’étranger, car vous-mêmes avez été des étrangers en Égypte.	19 (Love the stranger then, for you were once strangers in Egypt.)
20 Tu craindras Yahvé ton Dieu, tu le serviras, tu t’attacheras à lui et c’est par son Nom que tu jureras.	20 Yahweh your God is the one whom you must fear and serve; to him you must hold firm; in his nametake your oaths.
21 C’est à lui qu’ira ta louange, car il est ton Dieu, qui a fait pour toi les choses grandes et redoutables que tes yeux ont vues.	21 Him you must praise, he is your God: for you he has done these great and terrible things which youhave seen for yourselves;
22 Quand tes pères sont descendus en Égypte, ils étaient 70, et maintenant Yahvé ton Dieu t’a rendu aussi nombreux que les étoiles des cieux.	22 and, although your ancestors numbered only seventy persons when they went down to Egypt,Yahweh your God has now made you as many as the stars of heaven.'
