1 Yahvé dit à Moïse:	1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2 “Voici ce que tu diras à Aaron: Lorsque tu disposeras les lampes, tu les placeras de telle sorte qu’elles donnent leur lumière sur le devant du chandelier.”	2 Speak unto Aaron, and say unto him, When thou lightest the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light over against the candlestick.
3 C’est ce que fit Aaron. Il disposa les lampes sur le devant du chandelier comme Yahvé l’avait ordonné à Moïse.	3 And Aaron did so; he lighted the lamps thereof over against the candlestick, as the LORD commanded Moses.
4 Ce chandelier était un ouvrage en or travaillé, avec sa tige et sa corolle également en or travaillé. On avait fait le chandelier selon ce que Yahvé avait montré à Moïse.	4 And this work of the candlestick was of beaten gold, unto the shaft thereof, unto the flowers thereof, was beaten work: according unto the pattern which the LORD had shewed Moses, so he made the candlestick.
5 Yahvé dit à Moïse:	5 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
6 “Tu prendras les Lévites du milieu des Israélites et tu les purifieras.	6 Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them.
7 Voici ce que tu feras pour les purifier: tu les aspergeras avec l’eau d’expiation, et ensuite ils se raseront tout le corps, laveront leurs vêtements et se purifieront.	7 And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: Sprinkle water of purifying upon them, and let them shave all their flesh, and let them wash their clothes, and so make themselves clean.
8 Ils prendront ensuite un jeune taureau et une offrande de fleur de farine pétrie dans l’huile. Tu prendras également un second taureau tout jeune pour l’expiation.	8 Then let them take a young bullock with his meat offering, even fine flour mingled with oil, and another young bullock shalt thou take for a sin offering.
9 Alors tu feras approcher les Lévites devant la Tente du Rendez-Vous et tu réuniras toute la communauté des Israélites.	9 And thou shalt bring the Levites before the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt gather the whole assembly of the children of Israel together:
10 Tu feras approcher les Lévites devant Yahvé, et les Israélites leur imposeront les mains.	10 And thou shalt bring the Levites before the LORD: and the children of Israel shall put their hands upon the Levites:
11 Alors, au nom des Israélites, Aaron présentera les Lévites devant Yahvé, comme on présente une offrande balancée, car ce sont eux qui assureront le service de Yahvé.	11 And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD for an offering of the children of Israel, that they may execute the service of the LORD.
12 Puis les Lévites poseront leurs mains sur la tête des jeunes taureaux. Tu immoleras le premier en sacrifice pour le péché, le second en holocauste pour faire l’expiation pour les Lévites.	12 And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks: and thou shalt offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, unto the LORD, to make an atonement for the Levites.
13 Tu placeras les Lévites devant Aaron et ses fils, puis tu les présenteras à Yahvé comme on présente une offrande balancée.	13 And thou shalt set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them for an offering unto the LORD.
14 Tu mettras ainsi les Lévites à part du reste des Israélites, et les Lévites seront à moi.	14 Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be mine.
15 À partir de ce moment les Lévites assureront le service dans la Tente du Rendez-Vous. Tu les purifieras et tu les présenteras comme on présente une offrande balancée	15 And after that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt cleanse them, and offer them for an offering.
16 car ils me sont consacrés. Oui, ils m’ont été donnés du milieu des Israélites. Je les ai pris pour moi à la place de tous ceux qui sortent les premiers du sein maternel, c’est-à-dire, de tout premier-né parmi les Israélites.	16 For they are wholly given unto me from among the children of Israel; instead of such as open every womb, even instead of the firstborn of all the children of Israel, have I taken them unto me.
17 Tout premier-né parmi les Israélites m’appartient, aussi bien celui de l’homme que celui de la bête; je me les suis consacrés le jour où j’ai frappé tout premier-né au pays d’Égypte.	17 For all the firstborn of the children of Israel are mine, both man and beast: on the day that I smote every firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for myself.
18 Mais maintenant j’ai pris les Lévites à la place des premiers-nés des Israélites.	18 And I have taken the Levites for all the firstborn of the children of Israel.
19 Je les ai pris d’entre les Israélites et je les mets à la disposition d’Aaron et de ses fils, pour qu’ils assurent le service de la Tente du Rendez-Vous et pour qu’ils attirent la miséricorde sur les Israélites. Si les Israélites s’approchaient eux-mêmes du sanctuaire, le fléau les atteindrait.”	19 And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tabernacle of the congregation, and to make an atonement for the children of Israel: that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come nigh unto the sanctuary.
20 Moïse, Aaron et toute la communauté des Israélites firent pour les Lévites tout ce que Yahvé avait commandé à Moïse à ce sujet. Voilà donc ce que firent les Israélites pour les Lévites.	20 And Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel, did to the Levites according unto all that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did the children of Israel unto them.
21 Les Lévites firent leur expiation et lavèrent leurs vêtements. Aaron les présenta devant Yahvé comme on présente une offrande, puis il fit l’expiation sur eux, afin de les purifier.	21 And the Levites were purified, and they washed their clothes; and Aaron offered them as an offering before the LORD; and Aaron made an atonement for them to cleanse them.
22 Dès ce moment les Lévites assurèrent le service dans la Tente du Rendez-Vous, devant Aaron et ses fils. On fit donc en toute chose comme Yahvé l’avait ordonné à Moïse à propos des Lévites.	22 And after that went the Levites in to do their service in the tabernacle of the congregation before Aaron, and before his sons: as the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did they unto them.
23 Yahvé dit à Moïse:	23 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
24 “Ceci concerne également les Lévites. À partir de l’âge de 25 ans et au-delà, le Lévite sera dans le service actif de la Tente du Rendez-Vous.	24 This is it that belongeth unto the Levites: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service of the tabernacle of the congregation:
25 Mais à l’âge de 50 ans il se retirera du service actif: il n’aura plus de fonction.	25 And from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting upon the service thereof, and shall serve no more:
26 Alors il pourra aider ses frères dans la Tente du Rendez-Vous, mais il n’aura plus de fonction. Voilà comment tu agiras avec les Lévites, au sujet de leur charge.”	26 But shall minister with their brethren in the tabernacle of the congregation, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shalt thou do unto the Levites touching their charge.
