1 En ces jours-là Ézékias fut atteint d’une maladie mortelle. Le prophète Isaïe fils d’Amos vint le trouver pour lui dire: “Voici ce que dit Yahvé: Mets ordre à ta maison car tu vas mourir. Tu n’en réchapperas pas.”	1 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.
2 Alors Ézékias tourna son visage contre le mur et fit cette prière à Yahvé:	2 Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD,
3 “Ah Yahvé, je t’en supplie, rappelle-toi comment j’ai marché devant toi avec sincérité et d’un cœur fidèle! J’ai fait ce qui est juste à tes yeux.” Et Ézékias pleura, pleura beaucoup.	3 And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
4 Une parole de Yahvé fut alors adressée à Isaïe:	4 Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying,
5 “Va dire à Ézékias: Voici ce que dit Yahvé, le Dieu de David ton père: J’ai entendu ta prière et j’ai vu tes larmes. Je vais ajouter quinze années à ta vie.	5 Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.
6 Je vous délivrerai de la main du roi d’Assyrie, toi et cette ville; je protégerai cette ville.”	6 And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city.
7 38:21 Isaïe dit: “Apportez un gâteau de figues et appliquez-le sur l’ulcère, et le roi guérira.”	7 And this shall be a sign unto thee from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing that he hath spoken;
8 38:22 Ézékias dit: “Puis-je être sûr que je monterai encore à la Maison de Yahvé? Je voudrais un signe.”	8 Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.
9 8:7 Isaïe répondit: “Voici le signe que Yahvé te donne pour te montrer qu’il accomplira la parole qu’il a dite:	9 The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and was recovered of his sickness:
10 38:8 Le soleil n’a-t-il pas déjà descendu dix marches sur l’escalier de la chambre d’Akaz? Eh bien, je fais reculer l’ombre de dix marches en arrière.” Et le soleil recula de dix marches sur celles qu’il avait déjà descendues.	10 I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years.
11 38:9 Poème dédié à Ézékias, roi de Juda, lorsqu’il fut malade et qu’il guérit de sa maladie:	11 I said, I shall not see the LORD, even the LORD, in the land of the living: I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.
12 38:10 “Il n’est que midi pour moi, me disais-je, et déjà je pars au séjour des morts; on m’y gardera pour le reste de mes ans.	12 Mine age is departed, and is removed from me as a shepherd's tent: I have cut off like a weaver my life: he will cut me off with pining sickness: from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.
13 38:11 Je ne verrai plus Yahvé, me disais-je, sur une terre de vivants, je ne verrai plus aucun des habitants du monde.	13 I reckoned till morning, that, as a lion, so will he break all my bones: from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.
14 38:12 On a démonté ma demeure, on l’a roulée comme une tente de berger, loin de moi. Comme un tisserand tu enroulais ma vie, et puis tu me sépares du métier, le soir soudain tombe et tu m’achèves;	14 Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I did mourn as a dove: mine eyes fail with looking upward: O LORD, I am oppressed; undertake for me.
15 38:13 j’ai crié jusqu’au matin. Comme un lion il a broyé tous mes os.	15 What shall I say? he hath both spoken unto me, and himself hath done it: I shall go softly all my years in the bitterness of my soul.
16 38:14 Comme l’hirondelle je gémis, comme la colombe je dis ma plainte. Mes yeux se sont tournés vers les hauteurs: regarde, Seigneur, et viens à mon aide!	16 O Lord, by these things men live, and in all these things is the life of my spirit: so wilt thou recover me, and make me to live.
17 38:15 Que lui dire? C’est lui qui l’a fait. Mais ne pourrais-je te louer des années encore à propos de mon mal,	17 Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.
18 38:16 et que mon cœur vive pour toi, et mon esprit, Seigneur, car tu m’auras guéri, tu m’auras fait revivre?	18 For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.
19 38:17 Voici le mal parti, la santé revenue, tu as repris mon âme de la fosse fatale, rejeté derrière toi tous mes péchés.	19 The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.
20 38:18 Attends-tu des morts quelque louange? la Mort ne sait pas te chanter. Ceux qui descendent dans la tombe, proclameront-ils ta fidélité?	20 The LORD was ready to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the LORD.
21 38:19 C’est la vie qui te loue, c’est le vivant, comme je fais aujourd’hui; le père enseigne à ses fils ta fidélité.	21 For Isaiah had said, Let them take a lump of figs, and lay it for a plaister upon the boil, and he shall recover.
22 38:20 Sauve-moi, Yahvé, et pour toi résonneront nos harpes dans la Maison de Yahvé tous les jours de notre vie!”	22 Hezekiah also had said, What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the LORD?
