LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Quando Amrafel, re di Sennaar, Arioch, re di Ellasar, Chedorlàomer, re dell'Elam, e Tideal, re di Goim,	1 When Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedor-Laomer king of Elam, and Tidal king ofthe Goiim,
2 fecero guerra contro Bera, re di Sòdoma, Birse, re di Gomorra, Sinab, re di Adma, Semèber, re di Zeboìm e contro il re di Bela, chiamata Zoar,	2 made war on Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king ofZeboi m, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar),
3 tutti questi si coalizzarono nella valle di Siddim, che è il Mar Morto.	3 al the latter joined forces in the Val ey of Siddim (now the Salt Sea).

Theydefeated the Rephaim at Ashteroth-Carnaim, the Zuzim at Ham, the Emim in the Plain of Kiriathaim,
6 e gli Hurriti nelle loro montagne di Seir fino a El Paran, che è presso il deserto.	6 the Horites in the mountainous district of Seir near El-Paran, which is on the edge of the desert.
7 Poi ritornarono indietro e vennero a En Mispàt, che è Kades, e devastarono tutto il territorio degli Amaleciti e anche degli Amorrei che abitavano in Cazazòn-Tamar.	7 Wheeling round, they came to the Spring of Judgement (that is, Kadesh); they conquered all theterritory of the Amalekites and also the Amorites who lived in Hazazon-Tamar.
8 Allora il re di Sòdoma, il re di Gomorra, il re di Adma, il re di Zeboìm e il re di Bela, chiamata anche Zoar, uscirono e si schierarono in ordine di battaglia contro di loro, nella valle di Siddim,	8 Then the kings of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboiim and Bela (that is, Zoar) marched out andengaged them in the Val ey of Siddim:
9 e cioè contro Chedorlàomer, re dell'Elam, Tideal, re di Goim, Amrafèl, re di Sennaar, e Arioch, re di Ellasar: quattro re contro cinque.	9 Chedor-Laomer king of Elam, Tidal king of the Goiim, Amraphel king of Shinar and Arioch king ofEl asar: four kings against five.
10 Or la valle di Siddim era piena di pozzi di bitume; messi in fuga, il re di Sòdoma e il re di Gomorra vi caddero dentro e i restanti fuggirono sulla montagna.	10 Now there were many bitumen wel s in the Val ey of Siddim, and in their flight the kings of Sodomand Gomorrah fel into them, while the rest fled into the hil s.
11 I nemici presero tutte le possessioni di Sòdoma e di Gomorra e tutti i loro viveri e se ne andarono.	11 The conquerors seized al the possessions of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their provisions, andmade off.
12 Andandosene presero anche Lot, figlio del fratello di Abram, e i suoi beni. Egli risiedeva appunto in Sòdoma.	12 They also took Lot (the nephew of Abram) and his possessions and made off; he had been living atSodom.
13 Ma un fuggitivo venne ad avvertire Abram, l'ebreo, mentre egli era attendato sotto le Querce di Mamre, l'amorreo, fratello di Escol e fratello di Aner; questi erano alleati di Abram.	13 A survivor came to tell Abram, and Aner the Hebrew, who was living at the Oak of the AmoriteMamre, the brother of Eshcol; these were al ies of Abram.
14 Quando Abram seppe che suo fratello era stato condotto via prigioniero, mobilitò i suoi mercenari, servi nati nella sua casa, in numero di trecentodiciotto, e intraprese l'inseguimento fino a Dan;	14 When Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, he mustered his retainers born in hisown household, numbering three hundred and eighteen, and gave chase as far as Dan.
15 poi, divise le schiere contro di essi, di notte, lui con i suoi servi li sbaragliò e proseguì l'inseguimento fino a Coba, a settentrione di Damasco:	15 He and his retainers deployed against them under cover of dark, defeated them and pursued themas far as Hobah, north of Damascus.
16 ricuperò così tutta la roba e anche Lot, suo fratello, e i suoi beni, con le donne e il rimanente personale.	16 He recaptured all the goods as wel as his kinsman Lot and his possessions, together with thewomen and people.
17 Il re di Sòdoma gli uscì incontro, dopo il suo ritorno dalla sconfitta di Chedorlàomer e dei re che erano con lui, nella valle di Save, detta pure la valle del re.	17 When Abram returned from defeating Chedor-Laomer and the kings who had been on his side, theking of Sodom came to meet him in the Val ey of Shaveh (that is, the Val ey of the King).
18 Intanto Melchisedek, re di Salem, fece portare pane e vino. Era sacerdote di Dio altissimo, e	18 Melchizedek king of Salem brought bread and wine; he was a priest of God Most High.
19 benedisse Abram dicendo: "Sia benedetto Abram dal Dio altissimo, Creatore del cielo e della terra!	19 He pronounced this blessing: Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth.And blessed be God Most High for putting your enemies into your clutches.
20 E benedetto sia il Dio altissimo, che ti ha dato nelle mani i tuoi nemici!". Abram gli diede la decima di tutto.	20 And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
21 Poi il re di Sòdoma disse ad Abram: "Dammi le persone, e prendi pure per te i beni".	21 The king of Sodom said to Abram, 'Give me the people and take the possessions for yourself.'
22 Ma Abram disse al re di Sòdoma: "Ho alzato la mano davanti al Signore, Dio altissimo, creatore del cielo e della terra:	22 But Abram replied to the king of Sodom, 'I swear by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth:
23 né un filo o un legaccio di calzare, né alcunché di ciò che è tuo io prenderò; sicché tu non possa dire: "Sono io che ho arricchito Abram!".	23 not one thread, not one sandal strap, will I take of what is yours, for you to be able to say, "I madeAbram rich."
24 Io non c'entro! Soltanto quello che i soldati hanno consumato e la parte spettante agli uomini che sono venuti con me, Escol, Aner e Mamre... Essi, sì, riceveranno la loro parte".	24 For myself, nothing -- except what the troops have used up, and the share due to the men who camewith me, Eshcol, Aner and Mamre; let them take their share.'
