1 Also, Hiram, the king of Tyre, sent messengers to David, and cedar wood, and artisans of walls and of wood, so that they might build a house for him.	1 Chiram, re di Tiro, inviò dei messaggeri a Davide con legname di cedro, muratori e falegnami per costruirgli una casa.
2 And David realized that the Lord had confirmed him as king over Israel, and that his kingdom had been lifted up over his people Israel.	2 Allora Davide riconobbe che il Signore l'aveva stabilito re su Israele, perché il suo regno, a causa del suo popolo d'Israele, era grandemente esaltato.
3 Also, David took other wives in Jerusalem. And he conceived sons and daughters.	3 Davide si prese altre mogli in Gerusalemme e generò figli e figlie.
4 And these are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua and Shobab, Nathan and Solomon,	4 Questi sono i nomi dei figli che ebbe Davide in Gerusalemme: Sammua, Sobab, Natan, Salomone,

8 Then, hearing that David had been anointed as king over all of Israel, all the Philistines ascended so that they might seek him. But when David had heard of it, he went out to meet them.	8 Quando i Filistei appresero che Davide era stato unto re su tutto Israele, salirono tutti per ricercarlo. Saputolo, Davide uscì loro incontro.
9 Now the Philistines, arriving, spread out in the Valley of the Rephaim.	9 I Filistei, appena giunti, si sparpagliarono per la vallata di Rèfaim.
10 And so David consulted the Lord, saying, “Shall I ascend to the Philistines, and will you deliver them into my hand?” And the Lord said to him, “Ascend, and I will deliver them into your hand.”	10 Davide consultò Dio così: "Se io marcerò contro i Filistei, tu li consegnerai in mio potere?". Il Signore gli rispose: "Marcia, e io li consegnerò in tuo potere".
11 And when they had ascended to Baal-perazim, David struck them there, and he said: “God has divided my enemies by my hand, just as waters are divided.” And therefore the name of that place was called Baal-perazim.	11 Quelli salirono a Baal-Perazìm e quivi Davide li sconfisse. Questi allora disse: "Dio ha aperto per mio mezzo una breccia tra i miei nemici, come una breccia prodotta dall'acqua". Perciò mise a questo luogo il nome di Baal-Perazìm.
12 And they left behind their gods in that place, and so David ordered them to be burned.	12 I Filistei abbandonarono ivi i loro idoli e Davide ordinò che venissero bruciati nel fuoco.
13 And then, at another time, the Philistines invaded, and they spread out in the valley.	13 Ancora una volta i Filistei ricominciarono a sparpagliarsi per la vallata.
14 And again, David consulted God. And God said to him: “You shall not ascend after them. Draw away from them. And you shall come against them opposite the balsam trees.	14 Di nuovo Davide consultò Dio che gli rispose: "Non salire dietro di loro, aggirali a distanza per raggiungerli dalla parte di Becaim.
15 And when you hear a sound approaching in the tops of the balsam trees, then you shall go forth to war. For God has gone forth before you, so that he may strike down the army of the Philistines.”	15 Quando sentirai un rumore di passi fra le cime degli alberi, allora uscirai a combattere, perché Dio uscirà davanti a te per sconfiggere il campo dei Filistei".
16 Therefore, David did just as God had instructed him. And he struck down the army of the Philistines, from Gibeon as far as Gazera.	16 Davide fece come Dio gli aveva ordinato e sconfisse l'esercito dei Filistei da Gabaon fino a Ghezer.
17 And the name of David became well-known in all the regions. And the Lord placed the fear of him over all the nations.	17 La fama di Davide si diffuse in tutti i paesi, mentre il Signore lo rendeva temibile fra tutte le nazioni.
