Proverbs 28

NEW AMERICAN BIBLELXX
The wicked man flees although no one pursues him; but the just man, like a lion, feels sure of himself.1 ωσπερ δροσος εν αμητω και ωσπερ υετος εν θερει ουτως ουκ εστιν αφρονι τιμη
If a land is rebellious, its princes will be many; but with a prudent man it knows security.2 ωσπερ ορνεα πεταται και στρουθοι ουτως αρα ματαια ουκ επελευσεται ουδενι
A rich man who oppresses the poor is like a devastating rain that leaves no food.3 ωσπερ μαστιξ ιππω και κεντρον ονω ουτως ραβδος εθνει παρανομω
Those who abandon the law praise the wicked man, but those who keep the law war against him.4 μη αποκρινου αφρονι προς την εκεινου αφροσυνην ινα μη ομοιος γενη αυτω
Evil men understand nothing of justice, but those who seek the LORD understand all.5 αλλα αποκρινου αφρονι κατα την αφροσυνην αυτου ινα μη φαινηται σοφος παρ' εαυτω
Better a poor man who walks in his integrity than he who is crooked in his ways and rich.6 εκ των εαυτου ποδων ονειδος πιεται ο αποστειλας δι' αγγελου αφρονος λογον
He who keeps the law is a wise son, but the gluttons' companion disgraces his father.7 αφελου πορειαν σκελων και παροιμιαν εκ στοματος αφρονων
He who increases his wealth by interest and overcharge gathers it for him who is kind to the poor.8 ος αποδεσμευει λιθον εν σφενδονη ομοιος εστιν τω διδοντι αφρονι δοξαν
When one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.9 ακανθαι φυονται εν χειρι του μεθυσου δουλεια δε εν χειρι των αφρονων
He who seduces the upright into an evil way will himself fall into his own pit. (And blameless men will gain prosperity.)10 πολλα χειμαζεται πασα σαρξ αφρονων συντριβεται γαρ η εκστασις αυτων
The rich man is wise in his own eyes, but a poor man who is intelligent sees through him.11 ωσπερ κυων οταν επελθη επι τον εαυτου εμετον και μισητος γενηται ουτως αφρων τη εαυτου κακια αναστρεψας επι την εαυτου αμαρτιαν [11α] εστιν αισχυνη επαγουσα αμαρτιαν και εστιν αισχυνη δοξα και χαρις
When the just are triumphant, there is great jubilation; but when the wicked gain preeminence, people hide.12 ειδον ανδρα δοξαντα παρ' εαυτω σοφον ειναι ελπιδα μεντοι εσχεν μαλλον αφρων αυτου
He who conceals his sins prospers not, but he who confesses and forsakes them obtains mercy.13 λεγει οκνηρος αποστελλομενος εις οδον λεων εν ταις οδοις
Happy the man who is always on his guard; but he who hardens his heart will fall into evil.14 ωσπερ θυρα στρεφεται επι του στροφιγγος ουτως οκνηρος επι της κλινης αυτου
Like a roaring lion or a ravenous bear is a wicked ruler over a poor people.15 κρυψας οκνηρος την χειρα εν τω κολπω αυτου ου δυνησεται επενεγκειν επι το στομα
The less prudent the prince, the more his deeds oppress. He who hates ill-gotten gain prolongs his days.16 σοφωτερος εαυτω οκνηρος φαινεται του εν πλησμονη αποκομιζοντος αγγελιαν
Though a man burdened with human blood were to flee to the grave, none should support him.17 ωσπερ ο κρατων κερκου κυνος ουτως ο προεστως αλλοτριας κρισεως
He who walks uprightly is safe, but he whose ways are crooked falls into the pit.18 ωσπερ οι ιωμενοι προβαλλουσιν λογους εις ανθρωπους ο δε απαντησας τω λογω πρωτος υποσκελισθησεται
He who cultivates his land will have plenty of food, but from idle pursuits a man has his fill of poverty.19 ουτως παντες οι ενεδρευοντες τους εαυτων φιλους οταν δε φωραθωσιν λεγουσιν οτι παιζων επραξα
The trustworthy man will be richly blessed; he who is in haste to grow rich will not go unpunished.20 εν πολλοις ξυλοις θαλλει πυρ οπου δε ουκ εστιν διθυμος ησυχαζει μαχη
To show partiality is never good: for even a morsel of bread a man may do wrong.21 εσχαρα ανθραξιν και ξυλα πυρι ανηρ δε λοιδορος εις ταραχην μαχης
The avaricious man is perturbed about his wealth, and he knows not when want will come upon him.22 λογοι κερκωπων μαλακοι ουτοι δε τυπτουσιν εις ταμιεια σπλαγχνων
He who rebukes a man gets more thanks in the end than one with a flattering tongue.23 αργυριον διδομενον μετα δολου ωσπερ οστρακον ηγητεον χειλη λεια καρδιαν καλυπτει λυπηραν
He who defrauds father or mother and calls it no sin, is a partner of the brigand.24 χειλεσιν παντα επινευει αποκλαιομενος εχθρος εν δε τη καρδια τεκταινεται δολους
The greedy man stirs up disputes, but he who trusts in the LORD will prosper.25 εαν σου δεηται ο εχθρος μεγαλη τη φωνη μη πεισθης επτα γαρ εισιν πονηριαι εν τη ψυχη αυτου
He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is safe.26 ο κρυπτων εχθραν συνιστησιν δολον εκκαλυπτει δε τας εαυτου αμαρτιας ευγνωστος εν συνεδριοις
He who gives to the poor suffers no want, but he who ignores them gets many a curse.27 ο ορυσσων βοθρον τω πλησιον εμπεσειται εις αυτον ο δε κυλιων λιθον εφ' εαυτον κυλιει
When the wicked gain pre-eminence, other men hide; but at their fall the just flourish.28 γλωσσα ψευδης μισει αληθειαν στομα δε αστεγον ποιει ακαταστασιας
