1 The wicked man flees although no one pursues him; but the just man, like a lion, feels sure of himself.	1 Gli empi fuggono, senza che alcuno li perseguiti; Ma i giusti stanno sicuri, come un leoncello
2 If a land is rebellious, its princes will be many; but with a prudent man it knows security.	2 Come il paese, per li suoi misfatti, cangia spesso di principe; Così, per amor degli uomini savi ed intendenti, Il principe vive lungamente
3 A rich man who oppresses the poor is like a devastating rain that leaves no food.	3 L’uomo povero, che oppressa i miseri, È come una pioggia strabocchevole, che fa che non vi è del pane
4 Those who abandon the law praise the wicked man, but those who keep the law war against him.	4 Coloro che lasciano la Legge lodano gli empi; Ma coloro che la guardano fanno loro la guerra
5 Evil men understand nothing of justice, but those who seek the LORD understand all.	5 Gli uomini dati al male non intendono la dirittura; Ma quelli che cercano il Signore intendono ogni cosa
6 Better a poor man who walks in his integrity than he who is crooked in his ways and rich.	6 Meglio vale il povero che cammina nella sua integrità, Che il perverso che cammina per due vie, benchè egli sia ricco
7 He who keeps the law is a wise son, but the gluttons' companion disgraces his father.	7 Chi guarda la Legge è figliuolo intendente; Ma chi è compagno de’ ghiottoni fa vergogna a suo padre
8 He who increases his wealth by interest and overcharge gathers it for him who is kind to the poor.	8 Chi accresce i suoi beni con usura e con interesse, Li aduna per colui che dona a’ poveri
9 When one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.	9 Chi rivolge indietro l’orecchio, per non udir la Legge, La sua orazione altresì sarà in abbominio
10 He who seduces the upright into an evil way will himself fall into his own pit. (And blameless men will gain prosperity.)	10 Chi travia gli uomini diritti per via cattiva. Caderà egli stesso nella sua fossa; Ma gli uomini intieri erederanno il bene
11 The rich man is wise in his own eyes, but a poor man who is intelligent sees through him.	11 Il ricco si reputa savio; Ma il povero intendente l’esamina
12 When the just are triumphant, there is great jubilation; but when the wicked gain preeminence, people hide.	12 Quando i giusti trionfano, la gloria è grande; Ma quando gli empi sorgono, gli uomini son ricercati
13 He who conceals his sins prospers not, but he who confesses and forsakes them obtains mercy.	13 Chi copre i suoi misfatti non prospererà; Ma chi li confessa, e li lascia, otterrà misericordia
14 Happy the man who is always on his guard; but he who hardens his heart will fall into evil.	14 Beato l’uomo che si spaventa del continuo; Ma chi indura il suo cuore caderà nel male
15 Like a roaring lion or a ravenous bear is a wicked ruler over a poor people.	15 Un signore empio, che signoreggia sopra un popolo povero, È un leon ruggente, ed un orso affamato
16 The less prudent the prince, the more his deeds oppress. He who hates ill-gotten gain prolongs his days.	16 Un rettore privo di ogni prudenza fa anche molte storsioni; Ma quel che odia l’avarizia prolungherà i suoi giorni
17 Though a man burdened with human blood were to flee to the grave, none should support him.	17 L’uomo che fa violenza nel sangue alle persone, Fuggirà fino alla fossa, e niuno lo potrà sostenere
18 He who walks uprightly is safe, but he whose ways are crooked falls into the pit.	18 Chi cammina in integrità sarà salvo; Ma il perverso, che cammina per due vie, caderà in un tratto
19 He who cultivates his land will have plenty of food, but from idle pursuits a man has his fill of poverty.	19 Chi lavora la sua terra sarà saziato di pane; Ma chi va dietro agli uomini da nulla sarà saziato di povertà
20 The trustworthy man will be richly blessed; he who is in haste to grow rich will not go unpunished.	20 L’uomo leale avrà molte benedizioni; Ma chi si affretta di arricchire non sarà tenuto innocente
21 To show partiality is never good: for even a morsel of bread a man may do wrong.	21 Egli non è bene di aver riguardo alla qualità delle persone; E per un boccon di pane l’uomo commette misfatto
22 The avaricious man is perturbed about his wealth, and he knows not when want will come upon him.	22 Chi si affretta di arricchire è uomo d’occhio maligno, E non sa che povertà gli avverrà
23 He who rebukes a man gets more thanks in the end than one with a flattering tongue.	23 Chi riprende alcuno ne avrà in fine maggior grazia Che chi lo lusinga con la lingua
24 He who defrauds father or mother and calls it no sin, is a partner of the brigand.	24 Chi ruba suo padre e sua madre, E dice: Non vi è misfatto alcuno, È compagno del ladrone
25 The greedy man stirs up disputes, but he who trusts in the LORD will prosper.	25 Chi ha l’animo gonfio muove contese; Ma chi si confida nel Signore sarà ingrassato
26 He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is safe.	26 Chi si confida nel suo cuore è stolto; Ma chi cammina in sapienza scamperà
27 He who gives to the poor suffers no want, but he who ignores them gets many a curse.	27 Chi dona al povero non avrà alcun bisogno; Ma chi nasconde gli occhi da esso avrà molte maledizioni
28 When the wicked gain pre-eminence, other men hide; but at their fall the just flourish.	28 Quando gli empi sorgono, gli uomini si nascondono; Ma quando periscono, i giusti moltiplicano
