1 Be comforted, be comforted, my people, saith your God.	1 Consolai, consolai o meu povo, diz o vosso Deus.
2 Speak ye to the heart of Jerusalem, and call to her: for her evil is come to an end, her iniquity is forgiven: she hath received of the hand of the Lord double for all her sins.	2 Falai ao coração de Jerusalém e clamai-lhe que a sua servidão terminou, que está perdoada a sua iniquidade, que ela recebeu da mão do Senhor o duplo por todos os seus pecados.
3 The voice of one crying in the desert: Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the wilderness the paths of our God.	3 Uma voz grita: Abri caminho ao Senhor no deserto, aplanai na solidão as veredas do nosso Deus.
4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low, and the crooked shall become straight, and the rough ways plain.	4 Todo o vale seja alteado, toda a montanha e toda a colina sejam rebaixadas, todos os cumes arrasados, todos os terrenos escabrosos aplanados.
5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh together shall see, that the mouth of the Lord hath spoken.	5 Então a glória do Senhor se manifestará, e todos os homens a verão ao mesmo tempo, porque a boca do Senhor falou.
6 The voice of one, saying: Cry. And I said: What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the glory thereof as the flower of the held.	6 (Ouvi) uma voz dizer: Clama. Respondi: Que hei-de clamar? - (Clama que) toda a carne é feno e que toda a sua glória é como a flor dos campos.
7 The grass is withered, and the dower is fallen, because the spirit of the Lord hath blown upon it. Indeed the people is grass:	7 Seca o feno, murcha a flor, quando o sopro do Senhor passa por cima. Verdadeiramente o povo é feno;
8 The grass is withered, and the flower is fallen: but the word of our Lord endureth for ever.	8 seca o feno, murcha a flor, mas a palavra de nosso Senhor permanece para sempre.
9 Get thee up upon a high mountain, thou that bringest good tidings to Sion: lift up thy voice with strength, thou that bringest good tidings to Jerusalem: lift it up, fear not. Say to the cities of Juda: Behold your God:	9 Sobe a um alto monte, tu, que anuncias a boa nova a Sião; levanta com força a tua voz, tu, que anuncias a boa nova a Jerusalém; levanta-a, não temas. Dize às cidades de Judá: Eis aí o vosso Deus;
10 Behold the Lord God shall come with strength, and his arm shall rule: Behold his reward is with him and his work is before him.	10 eis que o Senhor Deus vem com fortaleza, eis que o seu braço domina; a sua recompensa está com ele, e o seu trabalho à sua frente.
11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather together the lambs with his arm, and shall take them up in his bosom, and he himself shall carry them that are with young.	11 Apascentará como um pastor o seu rebanho; nos seus braços recolherá os cordeiros, tomá-los-á no seu seio, e conduzirá docemente as ovelhas que amamentam.
12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and weighed the heavens with his palm? who hath poised with three fingers the bulk of the earth, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?	12 Quem é que mediu as águas com a concavidade da sua mão, e os céus com o seu palmo? Quem mediu com o alqueire toda a massa da terra, e pesou as montanhas na báscula, e os outeiros na balança?
13 Who hath forwarded the spirit of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor, and hath taught him?	13 Quem dirigiu o espírito do Senhor? Quem foi o seu conselheiro, e lhe mostrou (o que devia fazer)?
14 With whom hath he consulted, and who hath instructed him, and taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and shewed him the way of understanding?	14 Com quem tomou ele conselho, quem o instruiu e lhe ensinou a vereda da justiça, quem lhe ensinou a sabedoria e lhe mostrou o caminho da inteligência?
15 Behold the Gentiles are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the smallest grain of a balance: behold the islands are as a little dust.	15 Eis que (todas) as nações são (diante dele) como uma gota de água num balde, como um grão na balança; as ilhas são também (diante dele) como poeira.
16 And Libanus shall not be enough to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.	16 Não bastará o Líbano para queimar, e não bastarão os seus animais para um holocausto (digno dele).
17 All nations are before him as if they had no being at all, and are counted to him as nothing, and vanity.	17 Todos os povos na sua presença são como se não existissem; ele os considera como um nada, uma coisa que não existe.
18 To whom then have you likened God? or what image will you make for him?	18 A quem, pois, comparareis vós Deus, ou que imagem fareis dele?
19 Hath the workman cast a graven statue? or hath the goldsmith formed it with gold, or the silversmith with plates of silver?	19 O ídolo é fundido ou esculpido pelo artista, o ourives reveste-o de ouro e adorna-o com cadeias de prata.
20 He hath chosen strong wood, and that will not rot: the skilful workman seeketh how he may set up an idol that may not be moved.	20 O que faz uma oferta pobre, escolhe madeira incorrutível, procura um artista hábil para assentar a estátua, de modo que não dê de si.
21 Do you not know? hath it not been heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have you not understood the foundations of the earth ?	21 Porventura não o sabeis vós (que é Deus)? Não o ouvistes? Não vos foi isto anunciado desde o princípio? Porventura não chegou ao nosso conhecimento (que foi ele) que estabeleceu os fundamentos da terra?
22 It is he that sitteth upon the globe of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as locusts: he that stretcheth out the heavens as nothing, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.	22 Ele é o que está sentado sobre a redondeza da terra, cujos habitantes são (diante dele) como gafanhotos; é ele que estende os céus como um véu, e o desenrola como uma tenda para habitar.
23 He that bringeth the searchers of secrets to nothing, that hath made the judges of the earth as vanity.	23 É ele que aniquila (e confunde) os poderosos e reduz a nada os juízes da terra.
24 And surely their stock was neither planted, nor sown, nor rooted in the earth: suddenly he hath blown upon them, and they are withered, and a whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.	24 Logo que foram plantados, logo que semeados, logo que o seu tronco se arraigou na terra, repentinamente sopra sobre eles, fá-los secar, e um torvelinho os leva como palha.
25 And to whom have ye likened me, or made me equal, saith the Holy One?	25 A quem me comparareis, que seja igual a mim, diz o Santo?
26 Lift up your eyes on high, and see who hath created these things: who bringeth out their host by number, and calleth them all by their names: by the greatness of his might, and strength, and power, not one of them was missing.	26 Levantai os vossos olhos para o alto, e considerai quem criou esses corpos celestes; quem faz marchar em ordem o exército (dos astros) e os chama a todos pelos seus nomes, cuja força é tão grande, cuja energia é tão poderosa, que nem um só falta (à chamada).
27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel: My way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God?	27 Por que dizes, pois, ó Jacob, e afirmas, ó Israel: O meu caminho está escondido ao Senhor, e o meu direito passa despercebido ao meu Deus?
28 Knowest thou not, or hast thou not heard? the Lord is the everlasting God, who hath created the ends of the earth: he shall not faint, nor labour, neither is there any searching out of his wisdom.	28 Porventura não o sabes, ou não o ouviste? O Senhor é um Deus eterno, que criou os confins da terra; ele não se cansa, não se fatiga, e a sua sabedoria é impenetrável.
29 It is he that giveth strength to the weary, and increaseth force and might to them that are not.	29 Ele dá força ao fatigado e multiplica o vigor do fraco.
30 Youths shall faint, and labour, and young men shall fall by infirmity.	30 Os adolescentes cansam-se, fatigam-se, os jovens vacilam;
31 But they that hope in the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall take wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.	31 porém, os que esperam no Senhor, adquirem sempre novas forças, terão asas como de águia, correrão e não se fatigarão, andarão e não desfalecerão.
