DIODATI	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 CHI dimora nel nascondimento dell’Altissimo, Alberga all’ombra dell’Onnipotente.	1 The praise of a canticle for David. He that dwelleth in the aid of the most High, shall abide under the protection of the God of Jacob.
2 Io dirò al Signore: Tu sei il mio ricetto e la mia fortezza; Mio Dio, in cui mi confido.	2 He shall say to the Lord: Thou art my protector, and my refuge: my God, in him will I trust.
3 Certo egli ti riscoterà dal laccio dell’uccellatore, Dalla pestilenza mortifera.	3 For he hath delivered me from the snare of the hunters: and from the sharp word.
4 Egli ti farà riparo colle sue penne, E tu ti ridurrai in salvo sotto alle sue ale; La sua verità ti sarà scudo e targa.	4 He will overshadow thee with his shoulders: and under his wings thou shalt trust.
5 Tu non temerai di spavento notturno, Nè di saetta volante di giorno;	5 His truth shall compass thee with a shield: thou shalt not be afraid of the terror of the night.
6 Nè di pestilenza che vada attorno nelle tenebre; Nè di sterminio che distrugga in pien mezzodì.	6 Of the arrow that flieth in the day, of the business that walketh about in the dark: of invasion, or of the noonday devil.
7 Mille te ne caderanno al lato manco, E diecimila al destro; E pur quello non ti aggiungerà.	7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand: but it shall not come nigh thee.
8 Sol riguarderai con gli occhi, E vedrai la retribuzione degli empi,	8 But thou shalt consider with thy eyes: and shalt see the reward of the wicked.
9 Perciocchè, o Signore, tu sei il mio ricetto; Tu hai costituito l’Altissimo per tuo abitacolo.	9 Because thou, O Lord, art my hope: thou hast made the most High thy refuge.
10 Male alcuno non ti avverrà, E piaga alcuna non si accosterà al tuo tabernacolo.	10 There shall no evil come to thee: nor shall the scourge come near thy dwelling.
11 Perciocchè egli comanderà a’ suoi Angeli intorno a te, Che ti guardino in tutte le tue vie.	11 For he hath given his angels charge over thee; to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 Essi ti leveranno in palma di mano, Che talora il tuo piè non s’intoppi in alcuna pietra.	12 In their hands they shall bear thee up: lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13 Tu camminerai sopra il leone, e sopra l’aspido; Tu calcherai il leoncello e il dragone.	13 Thou shalt walk upon the asp and the basilisk: and thou shalt trample under foot the lion and the dragon.
14 Perciocchè egli ha posta in me tutta la sua affezione, dice il Signore, io lo libererò; E lo leverò ad alto, perchè egli conosce il mio Nome.	14 Because he hoped in me I will deliver him: I will protect him because he hath known my name.
15 Egli m’invocherà, e io gli risponderò; Io sarò con lui quando sarà in distretta; Io lo riscoterò e lo glorificherò.	15 He shall cry to me, and I will hear him: I am with him in tribulation, I will deliver him, and I will glorify him.
16 Io lo sazierò di lunga vita, E gli farò veder la mia salute	16 I will fill him with length of days; and I will shew him my salvation.
