1 Corintios 4

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Los hombres deben considerarnos simplemente como servidores de Cristo y administradores de los misterios de Dios.	1 People should think of us as Christ's servants, stewards entrusted with the mysteries of God.
2 Ahora bien, lo que se pide a un administrador es que sea fiel.	2 In such a matter, what is expected of stewards is that each one should be found trustworthy.
3 En cuanto a mí, poco me importa que me juzguen ustedes o un tribunal humano; ni siquiera yo mismo me juzgo.	3 It is of no importance to me how you or any other human court may judge me: I will not even be thejudge of my own self.
4 Es verdad que mi conciencia nada me reprocha, pero no por eso estoy justificado: mi juez es el Señor.	4 It is true that my conscience does not reproach me, but that is not enough to justify me: it is the Lordwho is my judge.
5 Por eso, no hagan juicios prematuros. Dejen que venga el Señor: él sacará a la luz lo que está oculto en las tinieblas y manifestará las intenciones secretas de los corazones. Entonces, cada uno recibirá de Dios la alabanza que le corresponda.	5 For that reason, do not judge anything before the due time, until the Lord comes; he wil bring to lighteverything that is hidden in darkness and reveal the designs of al hearts. Then everyone wil receive from Godthe appropriate commendation.
6 En todo esto, hermanos, les puse mi ejemplo y el de Apolo, a fin de que aprendan de nosotros el refrán: «No vayamos más allá de lo que está escrito», y así nadie tome partido orgullosamente en favor de uno contra otro.	6 I have applied al this to myself and Apollos for your sakes, so that you can learn how the saying,'Nothing beyond what is written' is true of us: no individual among you must become fil ed with his ownimportance and make comparisons, to another's detriment.
7 En efecto, ¿con qué derecho te distingues de los demás? ¿Y qué tienes que no hayas recibido? Y si lo has recibido, ¿por qué te glorías como si no lo hubieras recibido?	7 Who made you so important? What have you got that was not given to you? And if it was given to you,why are you boasting as though it were your own?
8 ¡Será que ustedes ya están satisfechos! ¡Será que se han enriquecido o que se han convertido en reyes, sin necesidad de nosotros! ¡Ojalá que así fuera, para que nosotros pudiéramos reinar con ustedes!	8 You already have everything -- you are rich already -- you have come into your kingdom, without anyhelp from us! Wel , I wish you were kings and we could be kings with you!
9 Pienso que a nosotros, los Apóstoles, Dios nos ha puesto en el último lugar, como condenados a muerte, ya que hemos llegado a ser un espectáculo para el mundo, para los ángeles y los hombres.	9 For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on show right at the end, like men condemned todeath: we have been exhibited as a spectacle to the whole universe, both angelic and human.
10 Nosotros somos tenidos por necios, a causa de Cristo, y en cambio, ustedes son sensatos en Cristo. Nosotros somos débiles, y ustedes, fuertes. Ustedes gozan de prestigio, y nosotros somos despreciados.	10 Here we are, fools for Christ's sake, while you are the clever ones in Christ; we are weak, while youare strong; you are honoured, while we are disgraced.
11 Hasta ahora sufrimos hambre, sed y frío. Somos maltratados y vivimos errantes.	11 To this day, we go short of food and drink and clothes, we are beaten up and we have no homes;
12 Nos agotamos, trabajando con nuestras manos.	12 we earn our living by labouring with our own hands; when we are cursed, we answer with a blessing;when we are hounded, we endure it passively;
13 Nos insultan y deseamos el bien. Padecemos persecución y la soportamos. Nos calumnian y consolamos a los demás. Hemos llegado a ser como la basura del mundo, objeto de desprecio para todos hasta el día de hoy.	13 when we are insulted, we give a courteous answer. We are treated even now as the dregs of theworld, the very lowest scum.
14 No les escribo estas cosas para avergonzarlos, sino para reprenderlos como a hijos muy queridos.	14 I am writing al this not to make you ashamed but simply to remind you, as my dear children;
15 Porque, aunque tengan diez mil preceptores en Cristo, no tienen muchos padres: soy yo el que los ha engendrado en Cristo Jesús, mediante la predicación de la Buena Noticia.	15 for even though you might have ten thousand slaves to look after you in Christ, you still have no morethan one father, and it was I who fathered you in Christ Jesus, by the gospel.
16 Les ruego, por lo tanto, que sigan mi ejemplo.	16 That is why I urge you to take me as your pattern
17 Por esta misma razón les envié a Timoteo, mi hijo muy querido y fiel en el Señor; él les recordará mis normas de conducta, que son las de Cristo, y que yo enseño siempre en todas las Iglesias.	17 and why I have sent you Timothy, a dear and faithful son to me in the Lord, who will remind you of myprinciples of conduct in Christ, as I teach them everywhere in every church.
18 Algunos de ustedes, pensando que yo no regresaría, se han llenado de orgullo.	18 On the assumption that I was not coming to you, some of you have become filled with your own self-importance;
19 Pero pronto iré a verlos –si así lo quiere el Señor– y entonces los juzgaré, no por sus palabras, sino por el poder que tienen.	19 but I shal be coming to you soon, the Lord willing, and then I shal find out not what these self-important people say, but what power they have.
20 ¡Porque el Reino de Dios no es cuestión de palabras sino de poder!	20 For the kingdom of God consists not in spoken words but in power.
21 ¿Qué prefieren? ¿Qué vaya a verlos con la vara en la mano, o con amor y espíritu de mansedumbre?	21 What do you want then? Am I to come to you with a stick in my hand or in love, and with a spirit ofgentleness?
