Epístola a Tito 2

1 O teu ensinamento, porém, seja conforme à sã doutrina.	1 But you are to speak the things that befit sound doctrine.
2 Os mais velhos sejam sóbrios, graves, prudentes, fortes na fé, na caridade, na paciência.	2 Old men should be sober, chaste, prudent, sound in faith, in love, in patience.
3 Assim também as mulheres de mais idade mostrem no seu exterior uma compostura santa, não sejam maldizentes nem intemperantes, mas mestras de bons conselhos.	3 Old women, similarly, should be in holy attire, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teaching well,
4 Que saibam ensinar as jovens a amarem seus maridos, a quererem bem seus filhos,	4 so that they may teach prudence to the young women, so that they may love their husbands, love their children,
5 a serem prudentes, castas, cuidadosas da casa, bondosas, submissas a seus maridos, para que a palavra de Deus não seja desacreditada.	5 be sensible, chaste, restrained, have concern for the household, be kind, be subordinate to their husbands: so that the Word of God may be not blasphemed.
6 Exorta igualmente os moços a serem morigerados,	6 Exhort young men similarly, so that they may show self-restraint.
7 e mostra-te em tudo modelo de bom comportamento: pela integridade na doutrina, gravidade,	7 In all things, present yourself as an example of good works: in doctrine, with integrity, with seriousness,
8 linguagem sã e irrepreensível, para que o adversário seja confundido, não tendo a dizer de nós mal algum.	8 with sound words, irreproachably, so that he who is an opponent may dread that he has nothing evil to say about us.
9 Exorta os servos a que sejam submissos a seus senhores e atentos em agradar-lhes. Em lugar de reclamar deles	9 Exhort servants to be submissive to their masters, in all things pleasing, not contradicting,
10 e defraudá-los, procurem em tudo testemunhar-lhes incondicional fidelidade, para que por todos seja respeitada a doutrina de Deus, nosso Salvador.	10 not cheating, but in all things showing good fidelity, so that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things.
11 Manifestou-se, com efeito, a graça de Deus, fonte de salvação para todos os homens.	11 For the grace of God our Savior has appeared to all men,
12 Veio para nos ensinar a renunciar à impiedade e às paixões mundanas e a viver neste mundo com toda sobriedade, justiça e piedade,	12 instructing us to reject impiety and worldly desires, so that we may live soberly and justly and piously in this age,
13 na expectativa da nossa esperança feliz, a aparição gloriosa de nosso grande Deus e Salvador, Jesus Cristo,	13 looking forward to the blessed hope and the advent of the glory of the great God and of our Savior Jesus Christ.
14 que se entregou por nós, a fim de nos resgatar de toda a iniqüidade, nos purificar e nos constituir seu povo de predileção, zeloso na prática do bem.	14 He gave himself for our sake, so that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and might cleanse for himself an acceptable people, pursuers of good works.
15 Eis o que deves ensinar, pregar e defender com toda a autoridade. E que ninguém te menospreze!	15 Speak and exhort and argue these things with all authority. Let no one despise you.
